saw Patti Smith for the first time ever last nite. wow. One of my all-time heroes, for some reason I had avoided ever seeing her all this time. she was amazing, show was outstanding. and Lenny and Jay Dee are still with her! too awesome. spending the day listening to my Patti boots. so far:

So Scott, I eventually wound up liking that A'Me Lorain & the Family Affair LP enough to keep (again) -- sort of squeaky-voice link between Cyndi Lauper and TLC, or between late '80s R&B and Radio Disney pop... plus, I agree, it definitely has a cool cover and name, which helps.

And now, one of the very very few LPs I own that I actually use a plastic outer sleeve for:

yeah that St John Green album is pretty underwhelming. that cover definitely doesn't deliver on what it promises..

how was Hooteroll? i've often wondered if I need Kingfish. I'm lukewarm on Bobby too but that does have "Lazy Lightnin"/"Supplication" so i imagine i will own it at some point.

the kingfish album is...ugh...i had to take it off. i tried. i really did. i don't think i need to own the hooteroll album. it's okay. it has "funky" moments. in quotes. it's not bad. the dreamier stuff is nice. i mean, jerry is good. jerry was solid in the studio. jerry owns in general, but listening to aoxomoxoa its really amazing how much he owns that album. that album is almost all him. its an artistic peak, i think. vocally and as a musician. as an interpreter of those songs. i'm kinda stoned right now though.
