hey ian yoooooo guys are still selling those academy african reissues, right? cuz i just got two wikkid kool african 70's psych/hard rock reissues in the mail and i'm thinking i'll do a whole cool african reissue thing for my decibel column next month. my column is about avant garde/drone/noize and stuff but i definitely want to have choice reissue info in every one from now on. (plus decibel just lets me write about whatever the hell i want, so they don't care. its why i love them.)

laptop's been in the shop the past couple days. have been playing LPs by the tubes, alec r. constadinos, be-bop deluxe, gasolin', ultravox, barrabas, etc. meanwhile. not necessarily in that order.

on the turntable now, bizarrely enough. (I think it's beyond cool that this is supposedly a concept album about a teenage graffiti artist in new york city, five years before rap music got recorded. I don't like that the only way you can remotely tell is by reading the lyrics of a verse or two from the title track. But still):

been listening to vinyl for the first time in like 6 weeks tonight (why I don't post to this thread.) My "to play" / "just played" pile had just gotten ridiculously out of control. Records out of sleeves, in the wrong sleeves, missing covers ... I made a deal with myself that I wouldn't play any records until I cleaned it up and re-filed everything. Finally took care of the job today, and surprisingly little damage from all those drunken late nights. One of the records from my Six Organs 'RTZ' set got a little dinged (party music!), so I'm probably gonna hafta re-buy that one. And this Breakout reish of 'Blues' got a little trashed, but it's not that good a record anyway so i'll probably just deal with it. Otherwise, a quick swipe through the VPI and everything looks pretty good. Gonna spend the rest of the long weekend listening to stuff, don't plan to leave the house except for wine runs.
