hows that quintron record anyway? im always interested...

's 'k , just an ep w/ 2 filler tracks (instrumental + weerdo phone message). not much different than the stuff on ... organ solo but maybe more loose / live sounding.

hmmm re:dead c...

im still kind of a n00b fan, but i do like "scarey nest," "bitcher," and "bad politics." i think they kind of kick ass at both single-form pop stuff, where they're darker and noisier and more "cryptic" or "challenging" than most of their peers, and also full out experimental-form, where they push for the middle again, using accessible instrumentation, ie guitar solos and rockish drums. i always thought id have a harder time listening to the dead c tbh.

clara mondshine record is on klaus schulze's label -- very burbly, prog synths, but with some african drummers. i posted a youtube link on facebook, but the track is at 33 1/3 instead of where it should be, at 45rpm. i mean tbh both speeds sound hella tight.

wow i had forgotten how great this one is too! my chill records day continuez

69- i have the other mondshine lp and it is also pretty amazing, even if it has slightly more 'digital' sounding synth work (i have no idea whether or not it is actually digital, or if the first one was also digital or whatever). i think the two were compiled for a release at some point.

Butterball of WDAS presents 20 oldies designed with young lovers in mind!

can't find any info about the album online, but this ad is from the same era:

One nice thing about this lp as opposed to other radio station albums I've heard is that it has a bit of circa 1967 patter on it

I have no Groundhogs LPs anymore to play on Groundhog Day:( (Scott played Crosscut Saw a day early, I think.)

Also, Scott, I wanted to tell you I definitely underrated upthread that Sly Fox LP you asked about. Has some fun breakdance-beaty '80s r&b pop in the middle of Side One, and some fun bubblegummy '80s r&b ballad pop in the middle of Side Two, and the closer "Merry-Go-Round" briefly goes into some beer-hall nursery-rhyme jack-in-the-box carousel melody (uh, whatever kiddie song "Hail To The Busdriver" is a parody of) halfway through plus the kind of late-Beatles harmonies you'd hear on Enuf Z'Nuff or King's X albums a few years later (no big surprise seeing how "Let's Go All The Way" has a lot of "I Am The Walrus" in it.) So, definitely don't regret spending a $1 on it, and would regret it even less if my copy wasn't so warped that the side-openers are unplayable.

Also underrated Lipps Inc's Pucker Up upthread. Whoever said that their version of "How Long" is pretty great was actually right.

i'll bite - love this record and its giant gatefold comic book cover

xp Also, I think the title track of that Pete Shelley XL1 LP I posted up above (that Scott said he loves so much) sounds like early '80s Rush. (Thought the same thing about "20th Century Fox," on the Elton Motello LP from 1980 that I posted here a couple weeks ago.)
