ha! crap I got FACED. have both albums of course but for some reason I totally had it in my head that the tree-leaner was the artist.

but yeah, Yoko's record destroyed my mind when I first heard it. Still remember exactly where I was, just about 13 years ago. In detroit. With at least one other ILXor... Our guest played it for us (along with original 7" of "City Slang" and a ton of over cool shit from his -- literal -- stacks)

i grew up in the scenic historic part of my town and across the street was the ye olde village store that had been there since the 1800's. i later worked there and sold my high school friends beer there. when i was a kid the store was run by bob crewe's brother and there was always a bob crewe mobile hanging from the ceiling hyping his latest album! i didn't know who the hell he was.

wowee zowee! finally hearing this for the first time. what a trip. this should have been on my hit parade years ago!

The album is called "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy", it was her last one, I think. JL having a go at more pop-contemporary (as of 1969) material. It's pretty good with a few sticky moments (sticky in good ways and bad ways).

The Bee Gees kept being amazing a good while after the first three, I think.

so, that julie felix album is all kinds of good if you ever see it for 20 or under at a store. dunno how hard it is to find. listening to it i can't help but think of the alternate universe led zeppelin that coulda happened during the recording. you got john paul jones on some tracks. okay, he's still on bass. big jim sullivan is on some tracks and he could shred like a madman and actually play guitar 50 times faster than jimmy page. AND cozy powell is on drums on some tracks and he could wack those things as hard as bonzo when he wanted to. then you have julie who loved the hippie folk as much as robert plant and who had quite a strong voice. alas, all these things don't come together in real life to create a hard rock blast. but that's okay. it's a groovy record anyway. just more in a drifting folk/pop vein. great sound from my pal mickie most. this was reissued on cd with lots of bonus stuff. can't remember who put it out.
