These guys were so great last night.
I suggest anyone at all go see 'em at the Mercury Lounge tonight.

is the second album good? i heard a little of it, and it sounded like it lost the hootenanny vibe of the first one that i liked so much...

controversial favorite LK album

The second album is really good. And live they're stellar. Catchy, somewhat somber/sentimental songs for acoustic guitars & two voices. I really like it.

lennon on ono's lap means it's his album, right?

nah, it's the solo album of the person leaning against the tree

69 ftw - John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band
I was flabbergasted the day I found Yoko's in the store

ha! crap I got FACED. have both albums of course but for some reason I totally had it in my head that the tree-leaner was the artist.

Stormy Davis, Saturday, 9 January 2010 06:19 (fourteen years ago) link

but yeah, Yoko's record destroyed my mind when I first heard it. Still remember exactly where I was, just about 13 years ago. In detroit. With at least one other ILXor... Our guest played it for us (along with original 7" of "City Slang" and a ton of over cool shit from his -- literal -- stacks)

i always kinda thought they basically invented Go4 on "Why"...

i grew up in the scenic historic part of my town and across the street was the ye olde village store that had been there since the 1800's. i later worked there and sold my high school friends beer there. when i was a kid the store was run by bob crewe's brother and there was always a bob crewe mobile hanging from the ceiling hyping his latest album! i didn't know who the hell he was.

wowee zowee! finally hearing this for the first time. what a trip. this should have been on my hit parade years ago!

les rallizes denudes - deeper than the night (side 1 is Mizutani's acid folk recordings which rule, Side 2 is a live version of Last One iirc which is 'fine.')

xpost Bob Crewe Generation rules forever for the Barbarella soundtrack (did you score that too?). love the EZ version on the LP you posted.

sealed 1978 double live. way better than I expected. Benson & Co. tear it up even dressed in disco-funk. the endless 'On Broadway' is a monster jam.
