how old is she? our 2-year-old loves bikes, but she's got training wheels which basically means she loves sitting on her bike more than riding it.

Marvellous. We've been very lax with getting the kids out on their bikes. They're not nearly as proficient as most of their peers so we've got some catching up to do. Of course, they could just be like their dad and unable to ride a bike at 44.

i think she is a bit early for doing this, she turns 4 in august -- but she has been using a strider bike since last summer, so she's been able to balance easily for a while now, it was just figuring out how to pedal, get herself going etc that she needed to do now. still working on that last bit -- we have to push her a bit, but it's only been three days now. really recommend the strider bike approach over the training wheels though!
