they're RUINING football

Number None, Thursday, 6 December 2012 22:20 (seven years ago) link

Eh, I've never been to an international so from a purely selfish stand point it doesn't matter to me that the tourney will take part in various countries. I'm far more annoyed about the expansion to 24 teams from 2016 tbh.

^^

At least I'll be spared the "will country x be ready to host the tournament" stories.

all complaints welcome

i mean there'll be probably be a game in Dublin and that'll be sort of cool but i won't get my act together in time to go or i'll be dead or something

Too soon to start its own thread? I quite like the idea myself, but not all the big games being at Wembley. Give, I dunno, Reykjavik a chance.

Should've been 'All we are saying is give Leeds a chance', but otherwise I feel thusly.

Not too different from being a traveling fan in the states, at least you guys have trains that are worth a shit.

dansplaining (dan m), Thursday, 6 December 2012 22:29 (seven years ago) link

technically it's no different from having the World Cup in the US or Brazil or whatever but it's the principle of the thing. It just feels wrong

Number None, Thursday, 6 December 2012 22:33 (seven years ago) link

Not even sure that's technically true

all the people on the right, boogaloo (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Thursday, 6 December 2012 22:36 (seven years ago) link

technically it would be equivalent to having the world cup in the world, except israel and kazakhstan are in uefa despite being outside europe so it would be like having the world cup in the world but possibly also the moon too

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Thursday, 6 December 2012 22:37 (seven years ago) link

The moon? Now you're talking!

pandemic, Thursday, 6 December 2012 22:38 (seven years ago) link

Terrible idea to play on the moon. No atmosphere whatsoever.

Like to see Spain try their tiki-taki on a cratered pitch pfff.

how about under the sea?

Number None, Thursday, 6 December 2012 22:40 (seven years ago) link

might lead to an increase in diving

All those Apollo missions were just to put down the corner flags

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 6 December 2012 22:41 (seven years ago) link

it's a great idea

bill paxman (darraghmac), Thursday, 6 December 2012 22:44 (seven years ago) link

An all-Ireland playoff would have been poetry. Poetry!
