I don’t care anymore

I honestly don’t know why I should care about being an Arsenal fan anymore.

I know that I have had a privilege in growing up a fan of a reasonably successful and incredibly entertaining football team. For fans of idk charlton or someone, you have never had the pleasure. But I don’t see why I should gaf about the current Arsenal F.C.?

I don’t think it’s even a glory hunter thing. I know Arsenal has a terrible reputation when it comes to moangy wankers on youtube complaining, I know we are a self entitled lot who thinks we should be top of the league playing xavi-iniesta-deco tiki-taka despite none of those players ever playing for arsenal. But I also never really gave a shit about they moaning fans.

Arsenal were shit in the early 90s when I started following, and like any young kid in this country, I inexplicably loved them more than my own family, They had an incredible couple years in the late 90s/early 00s, it was amazing. I really. really cared about Wenger’s shit project attempting to change modern football, although again I don’t really understand why I invested so much in it, I’m sure I once said a bunch of dumb shit on this forum about it. And wtf have the past 10ish years been?

I’m a bit pissed, I think I’ve had about 7 pints and then seen today’s score. It’s long before losing to this awful Spurs team though. I think it’s when he sold Flamini that was the catalyst.

I don’t think I give a shit about Arsenal anymore. I’m not suddenly glory hunting anyone else. I just really don’t wanna support a team that has punched itself repeatedly in the face for the past 15 years.

I can see how this reflects that silly “I’m now politically homeless” kind of thing; especially to people who have been fans of clubs that have always been shit. And you know what? I don’t care! Maybe I come off like a shit melt! Arsenal is... boring... as an institution. It... seems to skim money off the top to give back to the owners, instead of reinvesting in quality new players. It... has their own players not seemingly want to play for them or give any fuck about playing for the club. And if they don’t care, why should I?

My closest club is West Ham; I live about a five minute walk from the Olympic Stadium. But fuck me that’s not a club I would ever jump ship to. I think I’ve just got to not care for a while and see how I feel a year or two down the line.
