there is a very bad doc about these Germans at Bradford City called Matter of Heart that I would so never waste my time watching.

haha didier ndong hasn't turned up at sunderland this season and they don't know where he is

"Ndong, meanwhile, a 24-year-old Gabon international signed from Lorient of France two years ago, last week posted poolside pictures on Instagram, though they have since been deleted"

top work

I note tactics Tim Sherwood advocating the formal adoption of L1 / L2 clubs as feeder clubs to the proper real footballing organisations in the prem, on the basis that this is the only way that young English players will get the "game time" they need to improve the England team.

I don't know why no-one's thought of this brilliant idea before.

Tim, Wednesday, 12 September 2018 09:52 (five years ago) link

he's always likes to look at the big picture does this lad, like when he used to manage Spurs from the nosebleeds. He's gone up in a hot air balloon this time, take a holistic view of the English Game!

calzino, Wednesday, 12 September 2018 14:15 (five years ago) link

we've got no prospects of discovering the next Dean Windass, if we don't listen to this prophet!

In other news our miserable run continues, dumped out of the Herefordshire cup by Westfields in the first round.

Torquay apparently sniffing round Beadle. They can have him. I'll pay his train fare.

Bimlo Horsewagon became Wheelbarrow Horseflesh (aldo), Wednesday, 12 September 2018 17:24 (five years ago) link

Poor old Torquay are in a right old hole - bought by a developer, their fans seem to think the owner is happy to see the club drift away down the leagues.

Tim, Wednesday, 12 September 2018 20:12 (five years ago) link

Watch out, Beadle's about...

to be spending a lot more time at home.

Bimlo Horsewagon became Wheelbarrow Horseflesh (aldo), Thursday, 13 September 2018 11:23 (five years ago) link

Torquay getting Gary Johnson is a show of intent, I would have thought?

Bimlo Horsewagon became Wheelbarrow Horseflesh (aldo), Thursday, 13 September 2018 11:23 (five years ago) link

Not sure how I feel about Beadle going, so many problems right now, but first real crisis he's had in three years, so surely worth giving him one chance to turn it around? But probably inevitable that we'd need to change fairly soon anyway, so maybe it's for the best. Just have to stop expecting that fourth consecutive promotion.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Thursday, 13 September 2018 11:36 (five years ago) link

The above with the proviso that I don't follow the team that closely, especially this year.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Thursday, 13 September 2018 11:37 (five years ago) link

For all the results were last year he was found out there to be honest - doggedly sticking to 4-3-3 even if it clearly wasn't working despite having to play 2 or 3 out of position to support it.

It was ok before when results were going our way - although often flattering 80+ minutes of negative grind - but now pretty much all the teams have cottened on to the inflexibility it's not going to work in the long run.

I accept losing to Westfields isn't on the same scale as losing to Peggy or Lads Club but to see a near first choice team overrun by a team of players nearly all let go by Beadle for not being good enough (and he was pretty much right in his assessment to be fair) proved the final straw for his inability to get anything out of the team.

Yeah the Gulls seem pleased with GJ, good luck to them.

Ryan Green as player/manager for Saturday. Gareth Davies seems to have been appointed as Director of Football, which doesn't feel like an interim measure.

After a dismal 0-0 on Saturday, this happened in the FA Cup replay last night:

1' Truro 1-0 Hereford
6' Hereford miss penalty
7' The phrase 'one of those nights' gets used for the first time
13' Truro 2-0 Hereford
18' Truro hit the bar
20' Hereford miss open goal from 6yds
24' Hereford miss open goal from 8yds
25' The words 'one of those nights start getting used every time anyone comments
30' Truro 3-0 Hereford
31' Hereford fans start talking about going home at half time
42' Truro 3-1 Hereford
60' Truro 3-2 Hereford
85' Truro 3-3 Hereford
113' Truro 3-4 Hereford

So much about that post is wrong, I don't know where to start. Was supposed to be the goal from the Bristol City Villa game! Christ. Anyway, if it stays that way, surely Bruce is out...

STEVE BRUCE faces the sack at Aston Villa after a dramatic 3-3 draw with Preston was made all the worse by a fan throwing a CABBAGE at the manager.

The supporters outside looked from cabbage to man, and from man to cabbage, and from cabbage to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Down to 8 men, knocked out of the cup by lower league opposition, no manager, no 'chief exec', bottom of the table, deep financial trouble...

Progress: just two players sent off in today’s defeat. At this rate within a couple of weeks we’ll be finishing with 11 men.

Good win for FCUM today although not for us.

Nuneaton Borough's imminent demise might be our best route to staying up tbh. And it's not November yet.

Good win for FCUM today although not for us

New manager as well (finally), though he doesn't take charge until next week.

Nuneaton Borough's imminent demise might be our best route to staying up tbh. And it's not November yet.

Sounds like yet another absolute mess: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45877754. I went there last season (for a dispiriting freezing cold defeat) and found out they'd already gone bust and reformed as a phoenix club a few years ago.

the salacious inaudible (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 21 October 2018 19:16 (five years ago) link

Aldo - I might possibly be going to the Hereford game on 10th November.

the salacious inaudible (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 21 October 2018 19:18 (five years ago) link

Nuneaton are also one of (the only?) full time club in the league hence the fredcagfng status of the players next week.

NBS - if you come then FAP?

Bimlo Horsewagon became Wheelbarrow Horseflesh (aldo), Sunday, 21 October 2018 19:54 (five years ago) link

Yep, but I'll be driving, so that'll be a shandy

the salacious inaudible (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 21 October 2018 19:59 (five years ago) link

good to hear that one of the resident town fans on Calendar - John Shires - took great delight in pointing out that Leeds season seemed to collapse at this time last year as well.

4 wins in a row! seem to have found a nice replacement for mcnulty in conor chaplin
former huddersfield legend jordy hiwula has grabbed a couple of goals in this run too, looking good
