Cheers Jim.

Looks like we'll make it to August before we all get knocked out of Europe this year!

Of course.

I didn't realise the keeper that's been letting in all the goals is on Liverpool's books and went out on loan to try and work his way up their pecking order.

Seriously, if you ever visit Glasgow try to count up how many club shops for Celtic you see. There are even a few Rangers ones left (a club that used to be Celtic's main rival before it defrauded the taxman and was wound-up).

You could say Hearts played a bit dirty (I'd contend most of them were "good yellows") or blame it on the grass length, but with the ball we were playing great football. Uche has been a find and a half.

Minister of the Pillow (fionnland), Saturday, 11 August 2018 13:55 (four months ago) Permalink

Hearts competed better for every ball. Worthy winners.

Naismith is a rat bastard sad excuse for a hard man. He's also stupid - Hayes being injured improves Celtic.

Seems Scottish football has decided blatantly kicking an opponent in retaliation is just fine. I am looking forward to this being applied consistently across the season.

Looks like elbowing was fine in the same game so pretty consistent so far ;)

I'd like to be able to support Celtic in Europe - not just for the sake of the coefficient but because I actually like to see Scottish clubs doing well - but the money gap it creates is so bloody ridiculous.

Minister of the Pillow (fionnland), Tuesday, 14 August 2018 20:40 (three months ago) Permalink

Don't worry we'll have a lot less money this season - I'd rather be in the Europa League anyway.

The good news for the Gers is that Progres Niederkorn were put out by a goal in the 4th minute of extra time.

Tie of the round though was Zenit vs. Dinamo Minsk, positively Hibslike, https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45216364

Scottish Country Twerking (Tom D.), Thursday, 16 August 2018 20:50 (three months ago) Permalink

So it seems that the brief tenure of Lafferty being "our c**t" is over and he is now back to "a c**t".

Ideally we reinvest the funds in a defender pronto since Berra is crocked for most of the season. Someone the right side of 30 would be ideal.

Gareth McAuley would work short term but hmm, longer term? Don't want another Hughes.

Alternatively, if the Ross Callaghan plus cash rumour is to be believed, on the attacking front I am really interested in how Shankland would fare in the Premiership.

Minister of the Pillow (fionnland), Wednesday, 22 August 2018 11:03 (three months ago) Permalink

oh hello new thread!

I reckon Berra's a much bigger loss than Lafferty. I fear Shankland would be yet another Gavin Reilly / Dennis Wyness figure.

Euro qualification, an Édouard injury and Griffiths maintaining his less than stellar form could make the league a bit interesting!

Celtic just announced the signing of Armstrong Okoflex.

We signed him in July, he's 16 and won't get a look at the first team.

Embarrassing effort at making deadline day look better. "We reluctantly sold our best striker so here's a youth prospect who's been here for months!"

Bright new dawn at Ibrox - park the bus, pin your hopes on Allan McGregor and occasionally hoof the ball upfield... to Kyle Lafferty. Are you Walter Smith in disguise?

Scottish Country Twerking (Tom D.), Sunday, 2 September 2018 17:13 (three months ago) Permalink

Talking of Kyle Lafferty, I somehow missed this little nugget from his time with Palermo:

He scored 11 goals in 34 matches to help the club ascend to Serie A as champions in his only season, and won the Fans Player of the Season award. However, club president Maurizio Zamparini called him an "out-of-control womaniser" and claimed that this lifestyle resulted in him being sold.[26]

Scottish Country Twerking (Tom D.), Sunday, 2 September 2018 17:49 (three months ago) Permalink

He told Italian radio in 2014: "He is an out-of-control womaniser, an Irishman without rules. He is someone who disappears for a week and goes on the hunt for women in Milan.

"He has two families with six children, he never trains, and he's completely off the rails. On the field he's a great player, because he gave us everything he had and more.

"In terms of his behaviour, however, he is uncontrollable. My coach told me he cannot sort this player out, so he has to go."

Kept Paolo Dybala out of the side too haha.

Seems as good a thread as any to hail the excellent work of the Scottish Women's Team in their World Cup 2019 qualification; 7 wins, 1 defeat, did the job they needed to do this afternoon and results went their way. A World Cup final, at last!

Absolutely - still rank the Hearts-Hamilton game last year as probably the worst reffing I've ever seen.

https://www.theedinburghreporter.co.uk/2017/12/its-the-bobby-madden-show-at-tynecastle/

I also remember at a Hamilton-Hearts game three or four years ago, we finally got a free kick our way after being booted for half the game and the entire away stand rose and sarcastically started singing "one Bobby Madden". The bastard of course started smiling as it's all about him.

Lest we forget to mention Andrew Dallas, Willie Collum, and Alan Muir of course.

And because I'm feeling particularly generous this morning - for the hundredth time Neil Doncaster is a fud.
