quoting stats on the correctness of decisions is a great way to ignore issues like how infinitesimal is the difference between correct and incorrect, how much the time spent adjudicating a 1mm offside interrupted the flow of a game, and whether those "correct" decisions were applied consistently across all teams and matches

it's not like "red for me" vs "never a red!!!" wasn't a debate pre-VAR, like the way they convinced lemmings this was good was pretending a humongous chunk of the sport isn't simply judgement call, the idea of a 'right call' fairy that will wave a wand and say 'this was the correct call, there is no room for debate, it is now settled'.

obviously some are black and white but these aren't the ones being screamed about. nobody was taping matches in 2015 on old VHS machines so they could frame by frame advance to look where someone's knee was when the ball was played.

Ruled that TWO MINUTES PRIOR that we had actually committed a foul in the box at the other end, and awarded the opposing team a PK.

There was a foul not called by their player ten seconds before that but they couldn't review that.

It would have been 22-1 but there were a couple of borderline offsides where the keeper's view was deemed to have been obstructed

some enhancements we will probably see:

1) whenever the semi-automated offside detects a possible offside infraction, a recording is played through the stadium at 95 db that says

"ATTENTION: one of the players involved in build-up may or may not be offside, therefore everything that is happening right now might be for naught. Please hold your celebrations if anybody scores."

2) whenever there is a red card, the player is executed on the field, so there can be no rescinding of cards later
