Bielsa out.

Eggbreak Hotel (Tom D.), Sunday, 10 January 2021 15:18 (five years ago)

Disrespectful imo

Result hasn't flattered Crawley

Uptown Top Scamping (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 10 January 2021 15:18 (five years ago)

Disrespectful giving Wright a game I mean

Uptown Top Scamping (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 10 January 2021 15:18 (five years ago)

Leeds will be concentrating on the league

Uptown Top Scamping (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 10 January 2021 15:20 (five years ago)

Crawley lad high as a kite here, bless

Uptown Top Scamping (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 10 January 2021 15:23 (five years ago)

I just watched highlights of Crawley's 1st round win at Torquay. They were two down and had their concussed 'keeper stretchered off, leading to 20min of added time. Levelled the match, went behind, equalised again - 3-3 at 90+20'. Then fell 5-3 behind, only to score three times in last 12min of ET. So, this is quite a run!

our manager is Bielsa's protegee and he put out a reserve side for our FA cup fixture we lost 3-2 against Plymouth yesterday, but at least we got this stunning Arron Rowe goal!

calzino, Sunday, 10 January 2021 16:12 (five years ago)

ah bollox I tried to timestamp, it is on about 1:52 if you can be arsed

'Clearly wasn't a priority for Leeds'

FT: Crawley 3-0 Leeds

Alistair Bruce-Ball

BBC Radio 5 live commentator

Leeds fans will be so delighted with what Marcelo Bielsa has done during his time at the club, playing the football that they are, anything like this and they will always give him leeway.

This clearly wasn't a priority and he works his players very hard. They made seven changes, and if you look at the changes he made at half-time they were about rotation and giving the young players a chance. therefore you are taking a chance with your place in the FA Cup but who are we to question Bielsa.

hiroyoshi tins in (Sgt. Biscuits), Sunday, 10 January 2021 16:14 (five years ago)

who indeed

hiroyoshi tins in (Sgt. Biscuits), Sunday, 10 January 2021 16:14 (five years ago)

Who are you to doubt El Loco?

Windsor Davies, Sunday, 10 January 2021 16:24 (five years ago)

does Bielsa speak about himself in the third person? he could probably get away with it!

calzino, Sunday, 10 January 2021 16:27 (five years ago)

Slightly disappointed that didn’t go in.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Sunday, 10 January 2021 17:20 (five years ago)

Daz White (darraghmac), Sunday, 10 January 2021 17:31 (five years ago)

Thing is white is the player we all want to see on set plays, has a great rep

Daz White (darraghmac), Sunday, 10 January 2021 17:34 (five years ago)

an old pal once had to flee Marine's ground after winning a unibond league fixture against them playing for Accy Stanley. He said they were a team of scouse bouncers and drug dealers and were going to kick the shit out of them if they hadn't legged it straight onto the coach!

calzino, Sunday, 10 January 2021 17:36 (five years ago)

Theyll do well to scare big charlie vinnie

Daz White (darraghmac), Sunday, 10 January 2021 17:39 (five years ago)

I've been to Crosby dozens of times over the last few years (stayed with an old college pal when I visited for family reasons and my kids became friends with his kids), but can't quite place the ground. Other side of the railway line, away from the beach, I guess. Blundellsands end is quite genteel, Waterloo is a little rougher, but I guess if you're a successful drug dealer, the leafy 'burbs is where you end up!

Michael Jones, Sunday, 10 January 2021 17:49 (five years ago)

One of my best friends is from Crosby and he went to public school, although he wasn't that posh in the end because his accountant dad ended doing time for cooking books! I've stayed there a couple of times, it's a very nice place.

calzino, Sunday, 10 January 2021 17:53 (five years ago)

my old pal might have been exaggerating a bit, but if the Marine squad was enough to put the shits up a thuggish monster like him they probably would have been fairly rough at the time.

calzino, Sunday, 10 January 2021 17:57 (five years ago)

Apparently local boy Roger McGough wrote a poem for the occasion? I missed that intro. I love that beach. Getting four kids away from their devices down to the sand dunes an impossible task, however, so I rarely get to walk down there when I visit L22.

Michael Jones, Sunday, 10 January 2021 18:00 (five years ago)

Get a good look at devine, nabbed from wigan (iirc) in summer and has been bossing games at youth level despite being only 16

I lost my first newspaper job because of #MarineFC .

It must have been 1977 but I can't remember exactly. I was the lead sports reporter for the newly formed local newspaper - the Crosby Ambassador.

— dallan (@dallan) January 9, 2021

a twitter thread on Marine Fc by my pal from Crosby!

calzino, Sunday, 10 January 2021 18:22 (five years ago)

Whomst amongst us etc xp

Daz White (darraghmac), Sunday, 10 January 2021 18:23 (five years ago)

Marine were my local team when I livedin Crosby. I was a total Jonah though, only saw them win once near the end of my time there and after they'd suffered their first ever relegation. In fact, I think I might have got into double figures for games attended before I saw them score. At least three penalty misses as well.

J.G Ballard otm (Bananaman Begins), Tuesday, 12 January 2021 10:50 (five years ago)

My own local non-league club growing up on Merseyside were Poulton Victoria. West Cheshire League, which is level 11, so just below FA Cup eligibility, and only FA Vase if you've got floodlights (I don't recall any). I assume facilities were also a criterion for promotion into the North West Counties, cos we never managed it, and it took Vauxhall Motors and Cammell Laird any number of titles before they ascended to Tier 10. The club folded a few years back, but have re-emerged in West Cheshire Div 3. Top division now is full of cross-river interlopers, like South Liverpool (no doubt banging on about Puskas) and Maghull (same, but with Atomic Kitten).

Greatest success: winning the Carlsberg Pub Cup in '97 at Wembley over some team from Corby. I've got the VHS.

Michael Jones, Tuesday, 12 January 2021 16:06 (five years ago)

i can remember the last time Chorley knocked us out of the Cup, nervous already

What happened to the BBC covering the FA Cup?

Waterloo Subset (Tom D.), Friday, 22 January 2021 20:11 (five years ago)

they've got 3 or 4 games over the weekend but they don't cover the likes of us if they can help it

the scamp has a thousand fries (Noodle Vague), Friday, 22 January 2021 20:13 (five years ago)

They often cover the likes of Chorley though, romance of the Cup an' all that.

Waterloo Subset (Tom D.), Friday, 22 January 2021 20:26 (five years ago)
