Wondering if jim was in Vancouver to support Kenny Miller during his stint with the Whitecaps.

this was of course the impetus.
I only saw Kenny play once or twice for Vancouver but he scored 2 good goals in one game, a 4-2 victory.

Mourinho is long past his best and the fact that he keeps getting "big" jobs in the prem is an indictment of how backwards the suits that run football clubs are. any club that takes him on deserves all they get

Sacking Pochettino, the club's best manager in decades, for having a poor start to the season after starving his team for three windows in a row was a fucking idiotic call.

Poch is the least to blame of anyone here, when he walks into a cushy Bundesliga job we'll all be reminded quite how good a coach he was, particularly on limited resources. Poor squad building is ultimately laid at Levy's door, and Mourinho has been making the absolute worst of a bad job.
Individual players have been idiots time and time again but the frequency of these cock-ups has definitely been increasing over the course of this season.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 11 March 2020 11:35 (four years ago) link
The thing with latter day Mou is he joins clubs already struggling and can go a long way with "hey I'm not a miracle worker", well into the next season - splashing more money this summer on second to third rate players for Spurs. He's this close to doing so bad he can be sacked today. But not quite there yet. And he'll hover in that place, he enjoys being in that situation. Good luck getting rid of him.
Meanwhile no-one here cares one iota but PSV has signed Roger Schmidt as new manager for next season, which is a proper Big Signing for a Dutch club. He trashed Ajax w/ Red Bull Salzburg, twice, and got to the last 16 w/ Leverkusen. Before the inevitable disappointment, it's nice to daydream about what could be. Decent football for one.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 11 March 2020 11:42 (four years ago) link
Mourihno's treatment of Pogba and Ndombele has been absolutely toxic and whatever short-term boost of confidence he has given Dele has clearly worn off. His biggest strength this season has been to salvage games with good substitutions that probably only needed salvaging due to his poor starting lineup / strategy. I can't imagine he's anything other than a net negative on team morale.
― ShariVari, Wednesday, 11 March 2020 11:55 (four years ago) link
failure to deploy the idiots in the safest possible setup, as well as somehow also managing to nullify any attacking threat our capable players might bother to muster in the same formation takes....some ability
i think removing him might actually be the best thing to do, early as possible after the season ends.
but that relies upon levy backing the new guy early, when in all likelihood the new guy will be told to learn the squad and we'll back you in jan, in jan theres no value in jan, next summer we'll rebuild and if the poor sod is till there then and not insane he'll get andy carroll on aug 31st
nothing excuses the performance from the players, not under poch and not now
nothing excuses managers not making a decent fist with what they have, not latter poch and not now. the gap between "i have enough and we will challenge" and "oh well two injuries i guess we cant pass or tackle now" is a complete sidestep from either of em or anyone else.
but its prob time that levys handling of everything from the stadium delay onwards seems him the main target. hes killed it stone dead and deserves sacking.
― BSC Joan Baez (darraghmac), Wednesday, 11 March 2020 12:58 (four years ago) link
he'll get andy carroll on aug 31st
Oh man would I love too see it!
Sacking him end of season in a "we're very sorry it didn't work out etc" way seems like the best way out for Levy. If he waits any longer he's stuck in his own trap of having to feign actual faith in the bastard.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 11 March 2020 13:02 (four years ago) link
jonathon liew summed it up quite nicely
Late in the game Mourinho summoned his assistant João Sacramento to his side and simply shrugged at him, like a customer returning a defective phone to a retailer. Look, João. It doesn’t work. I’ve tried all the buttons. I’ve tried playing 5‑4‑1 at home. I’ve tried throwing my club’s record signing under the bus on live television. Now I’ve tried to gegenpress one of the best teams in Europe with a knackered team and a bare minimum of preparation. It’s a dud.

That was more like it, best LFC have played for a while. Surprised Allison missing so many games hasn't cost us more in the league this season tbh. Still not really found the exact right method for away games in Europe over the last 3 years which is crazy considering this is the only time they've been knocked out. Competition looks p open now . kinda think Bayern should win it but still have a feeling for PSG, obv rooting for Atalanta.

Lyon hang on! 2-1 Juve on the night, 2-2 on aggregate.
Caquaret (20), Aouar (22) and Bruno (22) were exceptional in central midfield. Aouar has some experience but Caquaret and Bruno played their eighth and third games for Lyon respectively. You’d expect City to beat them but you’d have expected Juventus to have beaten them too.
