Aldo, do you reckon the corner has been turned at Hereford? Today's result was ok, looked like a good goal too. But I haven't actually seen them play this season.
― mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 5 January 2019 19:45 (seven years ago)
Sorry NBS but tonight thank God it's them instead of you.
Things are coming together for sure. It's not pretty a lot of the time and there's a propensity for light and heat without much product but yesterday I think we actually looked good for lots of the game and that's the first time this season I've been able to say that honestly.
The players seem to be performing for Richards even if it's not always clear to the spectator what he wants them to do, but he's just unlikeable. It's like being managed by Neil Warnock.
We absolutely need an actual striker though.

A local landlord who was a massive Leeds fan was buried today. His pub The Vulcan was a popular match day boozer and he wasn't an arrogant twat and always pretended/claimed Town were his 2nd club so RIP Pete.

now that Pierce is weighing in on spygate, no doubt seething at the idea of cheating foreigns (lol saying the result should be reversed even tho Derby got a total fucking apparently) - I'm actually warming to up to Bielsa and fuck Lampard 4eva.

I note that the Bielsa presser has started with a powerpoint presentation - can that possibly be a prelude to a resignation?

surely not

this is superb.
"Apart from the players in a staff, you have around 20 people. These 20 people create a volume of information which is absolutely not necessary. It doesn't define the path of a competition. Why do we do that? Because we feel guilty if we don't work enough."

― calzino, Thursday, 17 January 2019 08:26 (seven years ago)
We have turned another corner. Unfortunately they were both ninety degree corners so now we are heading the same way as before, which is out of the league.
Utterly abject. Everyone below us has taken points off us, and have been far better than us when we played them. Even if Nuneaton go under, we will benefit less than the sides under us so we really need them to stay afloat. Grim stuff.

Hopefully get rid of the Dymock mafia, whether someone would leave a club at this stage of the season is doubtful so you'd have to be looking at someone currently out of work (e.g. Gary Rowett) or get the Davies/Green partnership back in to try and steady the wheel.
Lots of clamour for Beadle/Jenkins back as expected but them not being able to find another job since - and not even making the Gloucester shortlist - is telling. And holding up Billericay as an example of returns happening before just makes the club sound like a basket case.
We're desperate for a striker and at the weekend I was advocating an old pro, inspired by Jamie Cureton doing a job on us more than once last season. Then today I find Pascal Chimbomba is to play ever further down the pyramid.
― Bimlo Horsewagon became Wheelbarrow Horseflesh (aldo), Monday, 21 January 2019 14:07 (seven years ago)
A decent experienced striker can do quite a lot for keeping the team shape together also. There is something slightly tragic about watching one take up a really intelligent position for a particular ball, see the move work as anticipated and then just not have the turn of speed to get there. Cases in point: Clinton Morrison, Marcus Stewart for us. They were both worth the shirt but a tiny bit of extra pace and they'd have been worth a shirt for much better sides than ours.
