Wembley last night was like a half-full cauldron of rage and frustration from the very beginning, although I did have an excellent view of the Aurier fuckup that led to the early PSV corner and the goal. Shit went mental after the final goal but the Barca-Inter result probably makes it irrelevant.
TBH from the moment the team was announced it was obvious it was going to be headless chicken stuff with no one capable of making a tackle on the pitch other than the CBs. I'm not sure that front five had ever played together before either. PSV pretty good at parking the bus though, for most of it at least.
The enormous hole in our central midfield really needs to be addressed in January but I can't see that happening with the stadium situation the way it is. Dembele is largely crocked and running down his contract, Wanyama is never coming back, and we missed Dier badly last night, there was no balance to the team. I thought Winks did reasonably well last night but he was being asked to do way too much. Every side around us in the league has signed a really dynamic, powerhouse central midfielder and in the process improved the team immeasurably, at the exact point ours is falling apart.
