Real were fairly fortunate but it was the usual bottling shite from Emery & co.

preach!

Adrien Rabiot: "I am disappointed. We started by producing the match that we needed to. We always say the same things, we always do the same things, and in the end, we are always floored in the same way." (BeIN)

Adrien Rabiot: "It's great to put 8 goals past Dijon, but it is in these matches that you have to make it count."

A bit of context, please, for our new readers and friends who are wondering 'robot, or friend?,

i know kore-eda (or something), Thursday, 15 February 2018 00:17 (eight years ago)

real glad i dvr'd the lfc/porto match, hot damn

gbx, Thursday, 15 February 2018 02:51 (eight years ago)

Oof @ Rabiot, that's truth talk, c'est vrai.

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 15 February 2018 03:07 (eight years ago)

Rabiot is correct and, fair or not, the turning point is going to be seen as replacing Cav with Meunier. PSG can’t actively defend a lead and, in retrospect, there was probably more chance of it finishing 1-1 had they spent the last fifteen minutes trying to get a second away goal.

Emery proactively dug his grave last night (unusual starting 11, puzzling subs) but I guess that’s better than sinking quietly (he was gonna be sacked unless he won the CL)

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Thursday, 15 February 2018 08:13 (eight years ago)

Otm. I think he'd even be sacked if he did win the CL, reasoning "his work is done here". It's no secret that, now that the squad is "glamorous", they want a really big name as manager too. For better or probably worse.

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 15 February 2018 13:12 (eight years ago)

They/we already one (Ancelotti) but he was deemed too boring. Apart from Guardiola I don’t really see who would fit the bill at this point (Conte, Simeone, Mourinho are all probably too defensive for the owners)

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Thursday, 15 February 2018 13:22 (eight years ago)

Fuck off

rum dmc (darraghmac), Thursday, 15 February 2018 13:23 (eight years ago)

Don't even think it

rum dmc (darraghmac), Thursday, 15 February 2018 13:24 (eight years ago)

It's their opponents you should be worried about

Number None, Thursday, 15 February 2018 13:25 (eight years ago)

Oh I am

rum dmc (darraghmac), Thursday, 15 February 2018 13:26 (eight years ago)

But #psgdna prob a stronger pull for poch imo

rum dmc (darraghmac), Thursday, 15 February 2018 13:27 (eight years ago)

Baaderonixx, what's the reaction there to PSG failing like they did? I mean, what kind of team are they trying to be? Their attack is so frontloaded and yet they seem to retreat to some angsty defending and collapse under pressure. Same as last year against Barca.

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 15 February 2018 13:56 (eight years ago)

Par for the course really. Common opinion is that while they have a great team (don’t underestimate the lesser known players), they just aren’t a great club (poorly run, lack of clear authority, rival factions between the Brazilians and the others). Then, for various “political” reasons, they spent all their budget on offensive players last summer on offensive players, while everyone knew that the greatest needs were in the middle and at the back.
Now tbh if the ref has made a couple of different calls last night, the perception today could have been very different so I wouldn’t overestimate all these issues

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Thursday, 15 February 2018 14:10 (eight years ago)

Oh and Poch definitely prime choice given his time at the club

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Thursday, 15 February 2018 14:17 (eight years ago)

I have literally no idea what I was on about 20 posts ago. Alcohol eh

i know kore-eda (or something), Thursday, 15 February 2018 15:10 (eight years ago)

McGregor's winner against Zenit was nice

Well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Thursday, 15 February 2018 23:02 (eight years ago)

I just hope it's enough.

<3 Still my fave problem child. "C'est un garçon qui a besoin d'amour," his club president said last night. The boy just needs some love.

Le Bateau Ivre, Friday, 16 February 2018 13:57 (eight years ago)

Want

rum dmc (darraghmac), Friday, 16 February 2018 14:39 (eight years ago)

Barca have 187% possession, Willian keeps hitting the woodwork. It's still not all that enjoyable tbh

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 20:28 (eight years ago)

Chelsea are playing this well I think

i've got Willian to score anytime though :/

Number None, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 20:33 (eight years ago)

Paulinho is still shit btw

don't care what he's done this season

Number None, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 20:35 (eight years ago)

It's Steven seagal trading places bet stuff and he is utter shit

But he's better than sissoko

Chelsea playing very well there's a real post-montage rocky iii to their spell just before HT there

Yerman in Barca midfield will be off before the hour

Planck Blather (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 20:38 (eight years ago)

Paulinho's played really good this season, fuck the haters. (not tonight tho)

Chelsea are doing pretty well, yeah. Which makes this all the more difficult to watch.

I saw a footy scarf with the words "The Chels" today. Makes me want to burn my eyes.

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:04 (eight years ago)

Of course

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:05 (eight years ago)

Had to be him tho, he's had a cracking game.

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:05 (eight years ago)

Third times a charm

He's got some shot on him

Moses>>>>>>>>Paulinho

Well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:06 (eight years ago)

Beautiful goal

Planck Blather (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:06 (eight years ago)

He looks like a cheat player out there tonight

Planck Blather (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:07 (eight years ago)

People don't really say "the Chels" do they?

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:07 (eight years ago)

Number None, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:07 (eight years ago)

Get in there!

Video reach stereo bog (Tom D.), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:17 (eight years ago)

Fuck yeah

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:17 (eight years ago)

Nyom

Planck Blather (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:19 (eight years ago)

Messi's first goal against Chelsea, which seems hard to believe

khat person (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:20 (eight years ago)

Yeah that's quite the statique

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:21 (eight years ago)

That's not a yellow for rudiger but the pull by Suarez on Christiansen should have been a second

Planck Blather (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:23 (eight years ago)

Suarez at Barca is like having Vinnie Jones "acting" in Snatch.

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:25 (eight years ago)

Ah he was grand in snatch tbf

Planck Blather (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:25 (eight years ago)

Yeah ok that was harsh on Vincent

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:28 (eight years ago)

lol lbi

that little hang in time as christensen's pass to no man's land broke the chelsea defense was magnificent

ogmor, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:35 (eight years ago)

simultaneous sudden deceleration of pace and acceleration of panic

ogmor, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:38 (eight years ago)

Haha, it def was, good call.

Am I the only one enjoying the Giroud-benched-yet-again-the-feels-man-the-feels.jpg gifted to us by his move to "The Chels"? Surely not.

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:41 (eight years ago)

Chelsea players not sounding too confident in the post-match interview. I think they know they let this tie in general slip

Well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 21:50 (eight years ago)

Brian Kerr looks reanimated
