I haven't seen too much of Liverpool under Klopp but I'm sure they're playing better under him, not least because he knows how to coach and structure a midfield that can protect the back four. Still, Alderweireld and Wimmer are better and Aubameyang destroyed them.

nah i wasn't shaming you, i just honestly think that occasion, the klopp thing, and the fact that both fans sing "you'll never walk alone" was enough to create unity.

xpost TBF there was similar talk in the first leg, at least from Lawro on the radio - he was on about the joint singing of You'll Never Walk Alone. It's not something I mind, though, I think you do get that feeling very occasionally and it seems fair to comment on it when you do, even if it only exists in your imagination.

I suppose Klopp's avuncular daddishness is a factor as well - regardless of how friendly the fans are with each other, you don't get commentators saying that with, say, Mourinho on the bench.

Even allowing for the famously warmhearted Chelsea fans.

there's been a big love-in brewing between the clubs for a while. it's like the start of a romance. a dortmund fan died a few weeks ago and there was a tribute with the fans singing ynwa which went viral among liverpool fans. i guess the presence of death in this is a topic for another day.

i'm sure there'll be friendlies in future. hopefully more european encounters.
