so both utd and bayern will be playing 3-4-3 this season. Might be fun.
― pandemic, Monday, 28 July 2014 10:18 (eleven years ago)
although considering Bayern have the best 2 full backs in the world going to a 3 CB line up might be considered wilfully perverse.
― pandemic, Monday, 28 July 2014 10:22 (eleven years ago)
Rafael has gone back to England with a groin injury so it's Valencia at wing-back for the foreseeable. Gulp
― Number None, Monday, 28 July 2014 10:35 (eleven years ago)
As it stands this is really not a United squad well set up for 3-4-3.
― Matt DC, Monday, 28 July 2014 11:13 (eleven years ago)
Have they even got 3 CB's anymore? I'm not counting Smalling.
― pandemic, Monday, 28 July 2014 11:23 (eleven years ago)
like spurs, I have it'd down as a team of very few straight write-offs given a reasonably logical and clear plan of management idk its hard to say

it'd utd

Michael Keane is the fourth CB at the moment. I'm 90% sure there will be another coming in
― Number None, Monday, 28 July 2014 11:36 (eleven years ago)
More intriguing is that LvG appears to have made Darren Fletcher the captain in pre-season, which will piss Rooney off in a number of amusing ways.
― Matt DC, Monday, 28 July 2014 13:05 (eleven years ago)
Fletcher was captain in the first game, Cleverley in the second. Presumably they're just marking time til RVP come back

J-Rod had a good season for Southampton last year and was in great form right up until his injury but unless I'm mistaken he'll be injured for at least the first two months of the season. If we're really paying that sort of cash for Schneiderlin then Poch either doesn't rate any of our existing DMs or Levy is looking to cash in pretty quickly on Sandro.
― Matt DC, Monday, 28 July 2014 18:27 (eleven years ago)
YOU HEAR THAT GUYS WE ARE TOTALLY GONNA BE ABLE TO AFFORD GARETH BALE THAT'S HOW THIS WORKS RIGHT
― William Bloody Swygart, Monday, 28 July 2014 18:30 (eleven years ago)
cashing in on Sandro is a cert now, presuming that the other guy stays, what's is name.
if the fee is anything over half of 27m I'll shit.
idk why wed pay anything over 6m to replace siggurdson who was unnecessary anyway

get 'er done. Don't care how
Marouane Fellaini’s nightmare time at Manchester United could be about to end as the club are in negotiations with Napoli regarding the midfielder, whose £27.5m fee last summer made him the fourth most expensive player in the club’s history.Fellaini is thought to be minded to make the move to Italy, although he is still weighing up the decision. Whether it would be a permanent transfer or loan deal is also in the balance.United would prefer to sell the player and are bracing themselves to take a sizeable loss on him, with any fee in the region of £15m understood to be considered good business. Napoli, though, want to take Fellaini on a temporary basis as the Italian club have straitened finances and are trying to remove players from their books. With Fellaini on about £100,000 a week, his terms may also be an issue if it were to be a permanent transfer. Despite the Belgian’s disappointing form since joining United – he failed to score a goal for the club and was unlucky with injuries – Rafael Benítez, the Napoli head coach, believes the player’s physicality could be utilised in Serie A.The move away from United is being presented to Fellaini as a chance to rebuild his career and an opportunity to play Champions League football as United are not in the competition next season.

Krueger has dismissed speculation surrounding the pair's future after they were both linked with a reunion with former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham, insisting they remain central to the club's plans for the future.
"They are part of the core that we have decided to keep in Southampton," Krueger said. "Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin are not for sale.
"They will be a part of our club as we enter the new season, and in and around Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin and the rest of our core players, we’re excited to continue to build forward but all of those stories (linking the pair with a move away) are false."
When asked if he could categorically guarantee Southampton fans the pair would remain with the club, Krueger replied: "That's correct.
thank fuck

Schneiderlin has made an official transfer request now.
― Wristy Hurlington (ShariVari), Wednesday, 30 July 2014 11:27 (eleven years ago)
so i guess that means he'll forgo any bonuses in his contract if Saints do sell. But really the clubs are like over £10m apart in their valuation and I can't see Levy budging so Southampton might accept the request but still be not sell yeah?
― pandemic, Wednesday, 30 July 2014 11:35 (eleven years ago)
I think when lallana and lovren acted like dicks to get their move lfc's and southampton's valuations were at least in the same general vicinity (ie too bloody high), although I may be wrong.
― pandemic, Wednesday, 30 July 2014 11:39 (eleven years ago)
Krueger vs Levy does have an element of unstoppable force vs immovable object to it. Perhaps they can draft Jean-Michel Aulas in to mediate.
I guess Arsenal might still be interested, though.
