J-Rod had a good season for Southampton last year and was in great form right up until his injury but unless I'm mistaken he'll be injured for at least the first two months of the season. If we're really paying that sort of cash for Schneiderlin then Poch either doesn't rate any of our existing DMs or Levy is looking to cash in pretty quickly on Sandro.

Marouane Fellaini’s nightmare time at Manchester United could be about to end as the club are in negotiations with Napoli regarding the midfielder, whose £27.5m fee last summer made him the fourth most expensive player in the club’s history.

Fellaini is thought to be minded to make the move to Italy, although he is still weighing up the decision. Whether it would be a permanent transfer or loan deal is also in the balance.

United would prefer to sell the player and are bracing themselves to take a sizeable loss on him, with any fee in the region of £15m understood to be considered good business. Napoli, though, want to take Fellaini on a temporary basis as the Italian club have straitened finances and are trying to remove players from their books.

With Fellaini on about £100,000 a week, his terms may also be an issue if it were to be a permanent transfer. Despite the Belgian’s disappointing form since joining United – he failed to score a goal for the club and was unlucky with injuries – Rafael Benítez, the Napoli head coach, believes the player’s physicality could be utilised in Serie A.

The move away from United is being presented to Fellaini as a chance to rebuild his career and an opportunity to play Champions League football as United are not in the competition next season.

Krueger has dismissed speculation surrounding the pair's future after they were both linked with a reunion with former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham, insisting they remain central to the club's plans for the future.

"They are part of the core that we have decided to keep in Southampton," Krueger said. "Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin are not for sale.

so i guess that means he'll forgo any bonuses in his contract if Saints do sell. But really the clubs are like over £10m apart in their valuation and I can't see Levy budging so Southampton might accept the request but still be not sell yeah?

I think when lallana and lovren acted like dicks to get their move lfc's and southampton's valuations were at least in the same general vicinity (ie too bloody high), although I may be wrong.

Krueger vs Levy does have an element of unstoppable force vs immovable object to it. Perhaps they can draft Jean-Michel Aulas in to mediate.

I guess Arsenal might still be interested, though.
