I think the fact that it isn't a saga and nobody cares might count against it

Also that it only appeared in the daily mail

not lazy but clowning (Suedey 2), Saturday, 26 July 2014 12:27 (eleven years ago)

i thought i read about it in the telegraph

pandemic, Saturday, 26 July 2014 13:13 (eleven years ago)

Quoting the Mail tho

not lazy but clowning (Suedey 2), Saturday, 26 July 2014 13:23 (eleven years ago)

what saga?

a hoy hoy, Saturday, 26 July 2014 13:43 (eleven years ago)

ozil accused of assault by a photographer. No action taken because of lack of independent witness. 2 of the investigating officers treated to Mezut's private box at the Emirates for an Arsenal game soon after.

pandemic, Saturday, 26 July 2014 13:58 (eleven years ago)

nothing suspicious there at all.

pandemic, Saturday, 26 July 2014 13:58 (eleven years ago)

assault *with a car* too

what would nicklas bendtner say

not lazy but clowning (Suedey 2), Saturday, 26 July 2014 14:01 (eleven years ago)

ps this saga happened in february, the daily mail basically have a hate campaign (for web hits) against ozil, waited til world cup - think the final? - to publish article etc etc

not lazy but clowning (Suedey 2), Saturday, 26 July 2014 14:03 (eleven years ago)

HE'S NICKIN' A LIVING!

pandemic, Saturday, 26 July 2014 14:04 (eleven years ago)

Neil Ashton that is, Ozil's doing just fine imo

pandemic, Saturday, 26 July 2014 14:05 (eleven years ago)

haha ashton

also fact is wasn't picked up by hardly any other news outlets pretty suspicious too

not lazy but clowning (Suedey 2), Saturday, 26 July 2014 14:08 (eleven years ago)

ridic long range goal just now by pjanic for roma v man u from 10 yards inside his own half

john wahey (NickB), Saturday, 26 July 2014 21:47 (eleven years ago)

If only it had been Rooney, we could've called 2014/15 off

gbx, Saturday, 26 July 2014 22:02 (eleven years ago)

the Rooney and Mata goals were pretty good too in fairness.

Feel like LVG was sending out a message with that second-half team. Kagawa and Lingard in midfield, Ashley Young at wing-back, and Nani up front.

Number None, Saturday, 26 July 2014 22:11 (eleven years ago)

oh yeah and hooking Cleverley after making him captain and saying he would definitely play 90 minutes

Number None, Saturday, 26 July 2014 22:12 (eleven years ago)

lingard was good the couple of times I saw him at brighton but he does look a bit lightweight for united

john wahey (NickB), Saturday, 26 July 2014 22:23 (eleven years ago)

Louis van Gaal hailed the footballing intelligence of Wayne Rooney after the Manchester United forward scored two goals and made another for Juan Mata in a 3-2 win against Roma.

"The pass of Rooney to Mata -- it was unbelievable, that pass," Van Gaal said. "He did it with his brain and Mata was running with his brain at the right moment."

r|t|c, Sunday, 27 July 2014 08:04 (eleven years ago)

:O :D :O

vG sure knows how to give his players a psychic cuddle eh?

Daphnis Celesta, Sunday, 27 July 2014 08:20 (eleven years ago)

tedious protracted nature of that transfer kinda made me forget that like oh ok yeah btw everyone bayern signed probably the best 9 in the world

r|t|c, Sunday, 27 July 2014 08:21 (eleven years ago)

Gone

Lallana 25m
Luke Shaw 27m
Lambert 4m

On Way

Chambers 16m
Schneiderlin ~20m
Rodriguez? 15m?
Lovren ~20m

if they replace them with youth players an go down it's still a total rinsing of a stupid market imo

Remy fails medical, move off. This was a thing for a while when he was rumoured to be heading for Spurs, iirc?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 27 July 2014 14:52 (eleven years ago)

you know may i should know this as a physician but what exactly does it mean when a player fails their medical? like, how can they fail at one place and then go on to play elsewhere? what's being evaluated?

gbx, Sunday, 27 July 2014 14:55 (eleven years ago)

i don't know exactly what's evaluated but the reasons players can fail a medical but then go on somewhere else are because different transfer fees/wage deals might be at stake and some managers/clubs may be more willing/needing to take a gamble on a player with potential for future injuries than others

Daphnis Celesta, Sunday, 27 July 2014 14:59 (eleven years ago)

And then there's the tale of Tim Matavz, who was supposed to be transferred from PSV to Rubin Kazan last winter. It was a done deal until Kazan changed their mind while Matavz was already undergoing a medical. So what do you do then? Just say the player failed his medical, not saying how or why exactly, and send the player back. (Matavz took this up with FIFA)

Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 27 July 2014 15:04 (eleven years ago)

i wondered about that yeah, god knows i've had enough last second changes of heart in Football Manager

Daphnis Celesta, Sunday, 27 July 2014 15:05 (eleven years ago)

Remy has a (non-metaphorical) heart defect of some kind

Number None, Sunday, 27 July 2014 15:12 (eleven years ago)

George Boyd was due to sign for Forest last year but they pulled out of the deal a couple of hours before the deadline due to an "inconclusive vision test"

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Sunday, 27 July 2014 15:23 (eleven years ago)

i presume medicals have repercussions re: insurance premiums and such too

Daphnis Celesta, Sunday, 27 July 2014 15:25 (eleven years ago)

Tony Fernandes @tonyfernandes ยท 20m
It's Fifa Time.

r|t|c, Sunday, 27 July 2014 15:31 (eleven years ago)

that is an actual really real tweet btw

i do love my stupid club sometimes

r|t|c, Sunday, 27 July 2014 15:34 (eleven years ago)

anyway this is obv a fkn excellent development

charlie austin failed his hull medical too for a dodgy shoulder, no worries for us tho he just kept scoring til it was hanging off

nobody's perfect

r|t|c, Sunday, 27 July 2014 15:40 (eleven years ago)

john hartson failed the weigh-in at spurs before the medical

your favourite misread ILX threads (darraghmac), Sunday, 27 July 2014 15:41 (eleven years ago)

so if the reports about remy's release clause are correct, arsenal can still have him for 8.5m, everton and spurs for 11m, and everyone else for 15m

conflicting rumours about whether arse ever wanted him or if they just wouldnt meet his wage demands (which presumably he would lower now out of tearful desperation)

r|t|c, Sunday, 27 July 2014 15:51 (eleven years ago)

i mean if we have to sign valbuena just to keep him happy then shit man i guess we'll just have to put up with it

r|t|c, Sunday, 27 July 2014 15:53 (eleven years ago)

Glad to see Torres hasn't lost it http://bit.ly/1tQbAvf

Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 27 July 2014 16:56 (eleven years ago)

surely this now proves without doubt the drogba juju hex theory

r|t|c, Sunday, 27 July 2014 17:16 (eleven years ago)

gdamn, that lewandowski goal

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 27 July 2014 21:10 (eleven years ago)

Lovren will join up with the squad on their US tour.

He said: "After I played at Anfield last season, I said to myself: 'One day I hope I'll be able to play here for Liverpool'."

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 27 July 2014 21:32 (eleven years ago)

Griezmann to Atleti.

pandemic, Monday, 28 July 2014 09:49 (eleven years ago)

ya...woulda been nice

your favourite misread ILX threads (darraghmac), Monday, 28 July 2014 09:51 (eleven years ago)

so both utd and bayern will be playing 3-4-3 this season. Might be fun.

pandemic, Monday, 28 July 2014 10:18 (eleven years ago)

although considering Bayern have the best 2 full backs in the world going to a 3 CB line up might be considered wilfully perverse.

pandemic, Monday, 28 July 2014 10:22 (eleven years ago)

Rafael has gone back to England with a groin injury so it's Valencia at wing-back for the foreseeable. Gulp

Number None, Monday, 28 July 2014 10:35 (eleven years ago)

As it stands this is really not a United squad well set up for 3-4-3.

Matt DC, Monday, 28 July 2014 11:13 (eleven years ago)

Have they even got 3 CB's anymore? I'm not counting Smalling.

pandemic, Monday, 28 July 2014 11:23 (eleven years ago)

like spurs, I have it'd down as a team of very few straight write-offs given a reasonably logical and clear plan of management idk its hard to say

your favourite misread ILX threads (darraghmac), Monday, 28 July 2014 11:26 (eleven years ago)

it'd utd

your favourite misread ILX threads (darraghmac), Monday, 28 July 2014 11:27 (eleven years ago)

Michael Keane is the fourth CB at the moment. I'm 90% sure there will be another coming in

Number None, Monday, 28 July 2014 11:36 (eleven years ago)
