One summer.
But really who would they possibly want from the current arsenal squad?

pandemic, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 12:34 (twelve years ago)

At least they've got an excuse not to buy a CB now.

pandemic, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 12:39 (twelve years ago)

well you wouldnt think they wanted hleb and song but they just really like buying from us

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 12:41 (twelve years ago)

United were well organised but essentially dogshit, they played like a Champo team in the FA Cup, park the bus and hope to get something from a setpiece, which of course they did. Fellaini and Carrick gave the ball away so often, it's only because they were playing eight people behind the ball most of the time that Bayern started shooting from range and wasting chances.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 13:09 (twelve years ago)

and it was our best performance of the season!

seriously though, Fellaini has GOT to go. Can't tackle, can't pass, just ambles about like he hasn't got a care in the world (Bayern's goal was almost entirely his fault). He's not even good in the air and he does absolutely fuck all at corners. Sadly, I think it would take a new manager coming in to get rid of him (like Rodgers did with Carroll)

Moyes can make all the excuses he wants about the squad but he had his chance to get a midfielder and he bought that

There was one episode in the first half where he emerged at pace from your own box, diagonally, and pursued the ball, touching it every couple of seconds, for sixty yards in a straight line until it went out of play near the halfway line. It was magnificent.

Fellaini was very prominently poor last night I thought.

I think I know which moment you mean, haha it looked like how I used to play Kick Off on the Amiga unable to stop myself from running in a straight line in case I lost the ball.

Was laughing so hard at that incident, think he was trying to beat Kroos or someone, but he didn't really have a plan for getting past him other than just running dead straight on a random bearing. The only successful passes he made all evening were short backwards ones iirc.

Marouane Fellaini key stats: Won 1 of his 7 headed duels, completed 75% of his passes & failed to win a tackle.

Quite clearly remember the one he won cause the home fans cheered ironically.

Moyes can make all the excuses he wants about the squad but he had his chance to get a midfielder and he bought *that*

It doesn't sound as if Moyes had much to do with either signing (Fellaini or Mata). Apparently (and obviously we don't know how true this is) he was asked about Fellaini shortly after taking over, but said he wasn't good enough. Then they resorted to buying him in desperation when everything else kept falling through.

I was about to say 'yeah, that was hilarious', then I noticed you were talking about the first half (which I didn't see). Did he really do this twice???

Who exactly sanctioned the Fellaini transfer if not Moyes? The most widely circulated story is that he was trying to get him all summer but as a cheap twofer with Baines. That deal fell through and we missed the buyout clause hence 27m. I find the idea that Ed Woodward or I dunno Joel Glazer were desperate to buy the Belgian lump fucking hilarious. He's not exactly glamourous

That was complete class from lavezzi. Terry not so much

pandemic, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 18:51 (twelve years ago)

Mou going with his OT no strikers line up

pandemic, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 18:51 (twelve years ago)

Impressed that the Paris crowd know to boo Terry.

pandemic, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 18:54 (twelve years ago)

Think this Chelsea line up will play a bit of havoc with PSG's build from the back play.

Ramires with a trademark challenge.

I kind of like Fellaini cos he reminds me of how I played when I was a kid. The hiding. The laziness. The serious expression that hopes to feign obliviousness of the mistake just made. The easy passes - got rid of the ball thank god! And that run is beautiful, I remember runs like that so well: Wow, I'm dribbling here, no panic, great stuff, this is easier than I imagined, just keep going, could beat them all... WHOOPS.

Bayern Munich have announced that they have banned British newspapers The Sun and the Daily Mirror from next week's Champions League quarter-final second-leg at the Allianz Arena, after taking offence to their coverage of Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Bayern complained in an statement released on Thursday that the Daily Mirror and The Sun "'reported' in disrespectful, discriminatory and personally abusive manner" on Schweinsteiger. It attached pictures of a Sun story headlined "You Schwein!" and a Mirror story headlined "You Dirty Schwein." As a result of the puns on the German word for pig, journalists from the two tabloids will not receive accreditation.

David Moyes - "I actually thought Marouane got better as the game went on [against Bayern]. We needed him and I thought he played very well. He did well in the Villa game too. I think he is getting much closer to scoring."

That's you lot told.

Rooney probably out of the return leg - that's got to give a glimmer of hope to the Bavarians
