subaltern 8 (Michael B), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 21:32 (twelve years ago)

Special police brigades are breaking up fights between Celtic and Ajax fans in Amsterdam. The city's on emergency alert not just because of that, but also because fans of Anderlecht, Zagreb (playing PSV tomorrow) and St. Pauli (wtf) are on their way for a good old hooligan tiff... Smdh

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 18:58 (twelve years ago)

hooliganism still a big thing in holland?

subaltern 8 (Michael B), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 19:05 (twelve years ago)

Not that I know, oddly enough! Can't remember the last time something like this even happened. I know the Zagreb fans are feared, but I've no clue why clubs from Germany and Belgium who aren't even playing are suddenly joining in.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 19:11 (twelve years ago)

Didn't you report on Anderlecht hooligans stirring up trouble in Holland a year or two ago. Celtic do claim an affinity with St Pauli, but I doubt it's related to fighting.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 19:18 (twelve years ago)

Jeff Stelling just now (over a shot of the Dortmund fans singing You'll Never Walk Alone)

"They're playing our style of football...and now they're singing our songs as well!"

Number None, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 19:42 (twelve years ago)

Xp Can't remember if I did report on that or not.. :-/

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 19:49 (twelve years ago)

I blame wine

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 19:49 (twelve years ago)

dortmund just look so much faster and fitter. (great technique too.)

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 20:25 (twelve years ago)

Arsenal acquitting themselves quite well i think

Number None, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 20:32 (twelve years ago)

kaka surprisingly lively

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 20:39 (twelve years ago)

Just home in time for a dull last three minutes of Ajax vs Celtic. Looks like I didn't miss much. Various texts reporting Samaras, Stokes, Commons, Forest and Izaguirre as being shite.

grown-arsed man (onimo), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 20:40 (twelve years ago)

It's a dire match, Onimo. I'm only watching to see Ajax lose against this, quite frankly, hilariously bad Celtic.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 20:49 (twelve years ago)

Great chance for us there, Kayal seeing the glory as it opened up then wasting the chance.

1-0 them, ripped open like we weren't there.

grown-arsed man (onimo), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 20:54 (twelve years ago)

rip football

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 20:56 (twelve years ago)

And screw Celtic for allowing Schone to score in the dying seconds last time around. Costly.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 20:57 (twelve years ago)

On what I've seen so far Boerrigter for Forrest maybe looks like a plan. Forrest hasn't touched the ball. Boerrigter never more than half fit since he arrived but looks lively and useful on the rare occasions he can move.

grown-arsed man (onimo), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 20:57 (twelve years ago)

nae cunt watching barcelona milan?

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 20:58 (twelve years ago)

FUCK'S SAKE FORREST THAT'S FUCKING PISH

grown-arsed man (onimo), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:00 (twelve years ago)

2 v 1 and instead of a) taking the man on or b) passing to Stokes he c) gives it to the 1 badly positioned defender.

grown-arsed man (onimo), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:01 (twelve years ago)

Is Ramsey just going to be like this forever?

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:04 (twelve years ago)

maybe if he didnt get shawx it would have happened at the same time as bale and real would be 2/11 welsh

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:05 (twelve years ago)

I'll still be amazed if Arsenal win this

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:06 (twelve years ago)

I'll still be amazed if Arsenal win this

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:06 (twelve years ago)

grown-arsed man (onimo), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:07 (twelve years ago)

Get the Arsenal-Dortmund game on if you haven't already, it's shaping up for an epic

Number None, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:11 (twelve years ago)

Oh, look, we're taking off our only "striker", that'll help.

ailsa, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:16 (twelve years ago)

grown-arsed man (onimo), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:23 (twelve years ago)

messi neymar messi

>>>>>>>>>>>

Nilmar Jr (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:26 (twelve years ago)

how are messi and neymar playing together? has neymar settled in to la liga well?

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:28 (twelve years ago)

Seriously impressive from Arsenal. I was expecting an onslaught from Dortmund, but they stifled them so well.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:36 (twelve years ago)

that was a penalty at the end though

Number None, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:37 (twelve years ago)

neymar has mostly been good, messi has been underwhelming the last couple of games but a lot of people say he is pacing himself for the world cup, which is probably true and not the worst idea

xavi and especially iniesta a bit subued while tata moves to a quicker transition based game with 5-10% less possession per game

Nilmar Jr (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:45 (twelve years ago)

Celtic are shite. That was as bad a display as I've seen since, ooh, Saturday.

ailsa, Wednesday, 6 November 2013 21:45 (twelve years ago)

Welcome to Amsterdam :-(

Celtic are shite. That was as bad a display as I've seen since, ooh, Saturday.

First half of this game wss total mince... from both sides. There was an improvement in the 2nd half but only from Ajax.

Thomas K Amphong (Tom D.), Thursday, 7 November 2013 08:54 (twelve years ago)

"It's an opportunity lost, but all is not lost," said Lennon. "The whole thing could flip again if we beat Milan and Barcelona take something off Ajax."

ooh idk neil big ask for the catalan lads there

Merdeyeux, Thursday, 7 November 2013 10:38 (twelve years ago)

feel like that gif is the first time in years it's felt like germany are an arrogant footballing behemoth rather than the technically brilliant underdogs doing things the right way.

Legitimate space tale (LocalGarda), Thursday, 7 November 2013 10:41 (twelve years ago)

last time i remember that feeling was watching croatia vanquish the 90s team in 1998.

Legitimate space tale (LocalGarda), Thursday, 7 November 2013 10:42 (twelve years ago)

that's not from last night fyi

Number None, Thursday, 7 November 2013 10:42 (twelve years ago)

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 7 November 2013 10:52 (twelve years ago)

Number None, Thursday, 7 November 2013 10:58 (twelve years ago)
