Four players managed to lose ball in front of Dublin goal ffs
― hyggeligt, Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:00 (twelve years ago)
And rte player crashed. Typical
― hyggeligt, Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:02 (twelve years ago)
MAYO!
― a fox barks, btw. just barks. (darraghmac), Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:03 (twelve years ago)
NOT REALLY
what were they doing at the end there?
― Number None, Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:03 (twelve years ago)
Very disappointing considering Mayo had waited since 1951 and started so well.
― hyggeligt, Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:05 (twelve years ago)
What was up with that free? Anyone?
― Evil Juice Box Man (LocalGarda), Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:05 (twelve years ago)
Both teams blew it repeatedly
― Evil Juice Box Man (LocalGarda), Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:06 (twelve years ago)
Mayo were so crap in the 2nd half. Maybe the freetaker thought there was more time on the clock.
― Old Boy In Network (Michael B), Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:07 (twelve years ago)
By a point FFS! So many wides.
That final free was unreal. What was he thinking?
― hyggeligt, Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:08 (twelve years ago)
Mayo with hand pass fannydangle when horsing it into the full forward line was what was needed
― Old Boy In Network (Michael B), Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:12 (twelve years ago)
Cluxton dreading speech more than match. Funny he didn't raise cup. To each their own.
― hyggeligt, Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:16 (twelve years ago)
And vice versa as regards Dublin, IMO.
― Evil Juice Box Man (LocalGarda), Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:25 (twelve years ago)
Everyone OTT with fannydangling.
― hyggeligt, Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:27 (twelve years ago)
Disappointing that mayo didnt play their game is really it. No football on display at all, and ugly ugly wides
― a fox barks, btw. just barks. (darraghmac), Sunday, 22 September 2013 16:45 (twelve years ago)
Both sides were poor and Dublin kinda won by dint of that we have a right to be here sport man united thing.
― Evil Juice Box Man (LocalGarda), Sunday, 22 September 2013 17:01 (twelve years ago)
Yeah exactly that
― a fox barks, btw. just barks. (darraghmac), Sunday, 22 September 2013 17:07 (twelve years ago)
I had a feeling it might be that way, felt very good being there today after getting the monkey off our back in 2011. In some ways I'd say Mayo didn't have a strategy. Dublin have won all their big games this year without obliterating anyone, all felt very subtly in control, nobody has ever said they played perfectly.
It is a big buzz tho, I was at tons of games in the 90s but I worked in a car park near Croker from 97 to the time I left for London.
Saw the 95 final in person and loads of losses, that team should have won way more. Nice to see another win after 2011.
― Evil Juice Box Man (LocalGarda), Sunday, 22 September 2013 17:28 (twelve years ago)
Mayo the best team by some way all year, but otm about dub having a strategy to win and we not. Something to work on next year imo, this team not down nor out.
― bleedin dubs buy sam maguire, september 2013 (darraghmac), Sunday, 22 September 2013 17:57 (twelve years ago)
Gavin is the manager we've never had. Never seen such plotted control in GAA with Dublin. Still think this Dublin team are going to win more titles now, not every year or whatever.
― Evil Juice Box Man (LocalGarda), Sunday, 22 September 2013 18:05 (twelve years ago)
Does it make sense that Mayo seemed to lack a finisher? I mean they had forwards to burn at times but not a person at either end in defence (apart from Hennelly who I wasn't aware of but wow @ the majority of his game tiday) or up front who just existed to shut things down.
― hyggeligt, Sunday, 22 September 2013 18:33 (twelve years ago)
Feature of the holistic approach i think, not a lot of use for that type of specialist. Tho o'connor has been that guy all summer until his collarbone gave and he clearly wasnt in shape today
― bleedin dubs buy sam maguire, september 2013 (darraghmac), Sunday, 22 September 2013 18:52 (twelve years ago)
Both half back lines killed each other which only makes weird sense cos both were shit in earlier games.

horan stays, and rightly so. 55 bad minutes set against a glorious summer and progress all round. get a few of them minors in wearing their medals for training imo

idk what encapsulates mayo gaa better, the no show first half at croker, the rifle-under-chin red card, the resurgent display once all hope had died or the chucking it upon realising that the resurgent display had carried us out in actual front
mayo god help us
― nakh is the wintour of our diss content (darraghmac), Sunday, 24 August 2014 19:31 (eleven years ago)
"The mayo player everyone is raving about is the redeveloped aidan o'shea, always a fielder of note but physically reconditioned over the summer to a cross between longcat and a sherman tank. His fetching of the high ball above a forest of thuggery is rivalled as a sight this year only by his can't-fail method of seeking out opposition defenders to run over on his maraudings."
this fucking guy tho
― nakh is the wintour of our diss content (darraghmac), Sunday, 24 August 2014 19:36 (eleven years ago)
Like I said, I thought the sending off was harsh. You can let players get away with dumb stuff like that in GAA surely, it wasn't malicious. Kerry that bit cleverer with the ball, I fear Mayo have blown their chance.

sending off was otm according to an ethos that sez you can't react to thuggery like I said I can't ever love gaa because they want skill to be beaten up by village hero bullies at every level of their football
― nakh is the wintour of our diss content (darraghmac), Sunday, 24 August 2014 20:23 (eleven years ago)
Yeah football has been in a bit of a mess and the steps to sort it out have only added more confusion and lousy refereeing. Then there's the overly defensive safe play, yr Donegals and so on. Great game today though, mainly down to Mayo just saying fuck it and going for it,
― everyday sheeple (Michael B), Sunday, 24 August 2014 20:30 (eleven years ago)
still think the coach that can get a team of fellas using space say 10% as well as the average championship team in soccer will change gaa forever

2 soft frees for kerry in ET too

Security holding back the fat and furious Mayo fan was the moment of the game
― everyday sheeple (Michael B), Saturday, 30 August 2014 18:32 (eleven years ago)
ref had two different approaches in that game, strange
― nakh is the wintour of our diss content (darraghmac), Saturday, 30 August 2014 18:41 (eleven years ago)
no-one really commented on it either. joe brolly talking about how mayo lacked "ruthlessness" which was straight bollocks imo. kerry look fitter and less leggy than mayo over the 2nd half of ET though.
― everyday sheeple (Michael B), Saturday, 30 August 2014 19:10 (eleven years ago)
