It's not really that bad, but it looks bad because Fellaini is very publicly about 5th choice and could have been bought cheaper earlier as well as not doing much else. This signing could have been spun really positively if they'd gone about it differently

Given there's no way United could possibly play Carrick, Fellaini and a creative midfielder and still keep TWP in the team, it's not looking good for Shinji fans.

fellaini should have been tidied up at buyout clause, yes- another cm could have been chased then without the desperation aspect.

options from carrick, fallaini, kagawa, anderson, cleverley aren't great but they're a lot better with fellaini filling in either attacking or defensively than they were 24 hours ago.
