Which is a nice position to be in, of course.

An embarrassment of riches tbh. That's a hell of a strong squad.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:22 (twelve years ago)

Seems a bit football manager.

Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:24 (twelve years ago)

do chelsea have a really strong squad

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:24 (twelve years ago)

cuz they have a better squad than that

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:25 (twelve years ago)

yes, Chelsea have a strong squad

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:29 (twelve years ago)

tottenham aren't going to have a playmaker from central midfield or an orthodox playmaker like oscar cazorla etc

if they get willian he can do some of the latter but he is more of a robinho type who starts wide, inner left

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:30 (twelve years ago)

Three spaces surely

dmacation problem (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:33 (twelve years ago)

Which u typed ok

Capoue chadli cover obv

dmacation problem (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:34 (twelve years ago)

think dembele might lose his place to capoue at this rate

r|t|c, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:38 (twelve years ago)

they are the extremes of their cm, capoué being almost a defender

capoué > sandro > paulinho > dembele

it's very solid but there's no carrick touré or wilshere who can really play from deep, dembele can carry it but his passing isn't that distinguished

it's what avb would want, a luso kind of system where all the flair is wide

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:44 (twelve years ago)

also what the fuck have i been doing adding an accent to capoue, fuck all of you slobs for not correcting that

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:52 (twelve years ago)

It should have one

I mean i know it doesnt but surely thats a legacy clerical error or something

dmacation problem (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:57 (twelve years ago)

yes, it sounds much better with the accent

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 12:59 (twelve years ago)

Arsenal apparently scoping a move for Casillas.

Spurs are meant to be finalising a deal for Alen Halilovic again, along with his even smaller brother Dino.

Inte Regina Lund eller nån, mitt namn är (ShariVari), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:01 (twelve years ago)

Ten players five places, a lot of interchange btwn positions, seems ok to me tbh.

As nakh says im more interested in how a system develops using that talent, dont think we'll have a 'starting midfield' this year

dmacation problem (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:03 (twelve years ago)

Arsenal's bold £5m scoop for Messi just around the corner.

Clyde One DJ Diane “Knoxy” Knox-Campbell (Merdeyeux), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:04 (twelve years ago)

every hyped prospect needs a hyped young brother, who sometimes is going to end up even better than the elder one, rafa alcantara, jonathan dos santos, thorgan hazard, jordan lukaku, wesley sneijder had a couple of these who ended up doing nothing

fuck it i give up on life.

Clyde One DJ Diane “Knoxy” Knox-Campbell (Merdeyeux), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:06 (twelve years ago)

Yeah I've noticed this trend with Villa. Though we seem to specialise in producing younger brothers of superior pedigree - Craig and Gary Gardener, for instance, or erm... Stefan and Luke Moore.

Third Rate Zoo Keepers With Tenth Rate Minds (Windsor Davies), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:09 (twelve years ago)

i think i would like him more if he were actually called gary gardener

craig is and always will be despicable

just leaving this one here for deems

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:14 (twelve years ago)

John Rooney

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:15 (twelve years ago)

xxpost Haha, fair copy, the only gardening I could see either of those pair doing would be in high-viz jackets as they repay their debt to society on some form of public footpath or heath. I’d still quite like to see more of GG, apparently he’s very highly thought of.

Third Rate Zoo Keepers With Tenth Rate Minds (Windsor Davies), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:19 (twelve years ago)

he had an acl rupture, are big things still expected

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:21 (twelve years ago)

Cant see it nakh, only look at twitter in order to keep up with clusterfuck materielle tbr

dmacation problem (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:22 (twelve years ago)

idk it's just some plebs calling arsenal faggots, what more do you want

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:24 (twelve years ago)

Idk how Gardner's perceived more widely these days, obviously injuries have slowed him down but the mood on the terraces regarding his prospects remains positively giddy. That proves nothing though obviously, the terraces get giddy about everyone who pulls on the shirt until they're actually proven wrong.

Third Rate Zoo Keepers With Tenth Rate Minds (Windsor Davies), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:26 (twelve years ago)

Ive nothing against arsenal fans u cunt some of my best friends are arsenal fans

k'poo m8 lol

his distribution was quite good and sharp i thought, not visionary but v workable

not that their predecessors were paragons of tracking back but willian/lamala/coutinho are all a shade more workshy still, idk if dembele can cope without raising up a level

r|t|c, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:30 (twelve years ago)

is it what he wanted? he tried to buy moutinho. maybe he's counting on holtby to progress a lot. i hope wee tom carroll could fill this role in a few years.

mizzell, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:36 (twelve years ago)

distribution/playing typing/writing

'poo is a good player though, technique is fine for his position

this is how avb wants to play, the advantage is very quick transitions but not so good against deep defences

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:37 (twelve years ago)

moutinho is a bit like wilshere in that he is a skilled player can do a bit of everything

but there aren't many players like that and they couldn't get him, so instead of that the emphasis is on solidity, with holtby and sigurdsson as squad players who can add something different when needed (and holtby is pretty hard working too)

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 13:42 (twelve years ago)

MLS has had a bunch of brother players. Hell, NY has had 3 of them: John Rooney, Digão, now Bradley Wright-Phillips. Federico Higuain plays for Columbus.

D@v3 M. (dan m), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 16:08 (twelve years ago)

Cbus also had Guillermo Barros Schelloto but he was by far the better of his family.

D@v3 M. (dan m), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 16:09 (twelve years ago)

I kind of feel sorry for them, at least for the ones who aren't trading on the name to have the best gap year ever. I mean, in most families Anton Ferdinand would be a good thing to be.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 16:17 (twelve years ago)

not in the Terry family obviously

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 16:17 (twelve years ago)

rip Celtic, this is a terrible result

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 16:46 (twelve years ago)

We need a Euro thread by tomorrow for Arsenal, I guess.

I don't think Celtic are totally out of it yet.

Inte Regina Lund eller nån, mitt namn är (ShariVari), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 16:54 (twelve years ago)

PSV tonight I think - could be a cracker. Lets get dis ting rolling.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 17:04 (twelve years ago)

We're playing Milan off the pitch!

So,obv first chance Milan get is a goal :/

Have you started the CL thread yet?

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 19:03 (twelve years ago)

No and can't right now tbh

was thinking the exact same thing. :( and :) (because PSV hasn't played like this in seasons)

Ludo, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 19:10 (twelve years ago)

Yeah we're playing fantastic! But it seems like one of those matches you will lose with 0-2 or 0-3, Milan having done fuck all. And yet scoring.

But I can't complain, they are playing beautiful football.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 19:19 (twelve years ago)

Think we played with a lionheart today. Bruma and Rekik are beasts, Park will serve us well this season, Maher and Depay rough diamonds.

1-1 is a shite score to have to take with you to San Siro, but it'll do.

And boy, El Sharaawy really is something else.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 20:41 (twelve years ago)

I bought Chedric Seedorf on Football Manager once. I was managing Hyde United in Conference North at the time, so it was actually a bit of a coup.

William Bloody Swygart, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 20:48 (twelve years ago)

Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 20 August 2013 20:50 (twelve years ago)

I didn't watch in the end. Was El Shaarawy good then? Every time I've seen he looks absolutely top-drawer.
