He might do well if he resists touting himself for every L1/Championship vacancy when sacking season begins.

Bees equalised with 3 seconds of injury time left. I'm sure Big Dog has saved his best for the football league show.

First QPR youth product to score since Antonio German in spring 2010. Only the second to have even been on the pitch since German.

I don't think Lomas is going to endear himself further to Milwall fans by saying today was their best performance so far. Even if it did sound like they could have got something from the game. I guess Jackett knew it was going to be a slog when he jumped ship.
― Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Saturday, 17 August 2013 20:26 (eleven years ago) link
Lomas had only really got the hang of post match interviews when he left Saints. Didn't always sound reassuring. Hope he turns things round, though.

I think this is the thread where we are grateful to the Conference for picking a sponsor with a sufficiently stupid name that everyone will refer to the leagues as Conference Premier/North/South, because Skrill North... that just sounds rubbish.
― William Bloody Swygart, Tuesday, 20 August 2013 20:55 (eleven years ago) link
Skrill is a very unwise name for a company. I have already seen people referring to the Conference as the "Skrillex Division". Bad juju on brand awareness from the start of their sponsorship.

i quite like it tbh, "minnows" is overused so a seeming association with krill feels pleasingly appropriate

Owen Coyle had a long discussion with Owen Coyle about this result. Full statement coming from Owen Coyle when he ceases talking to Owen Coyle about Owen Coyle's results.

i wouldnt really know as he hasnt featured for us in four years or whatever. good lad, enthusiastic, seems to be nice to have around (presumably, since no one's gone out of their way to show him the door), doesnt particularly excel at anything
paolo sousa once thought a lot of him iirc, back when he was a poor man's routledge to a newly arrived adel

hogan ephraim is yer archetypical decent little player. will pop up unnoticed in the box. his littleness is his greatest asset.

Agreed, it's brilliant. I hope I never come across a real life Annan Athletic or Montrose fan, because I find myself doing that "likes of" thing a LOT.

totally legit penalty
brought the situation on ourselves tho, just played backwards after 30 minutes or so, Crawley can consider themselves unlucky
on the other hand, these kids will be playing top flight in the next 5 years

oh yeah definite pen no question
quite impressed with crawley, decent quality fitba
sako was pretty rub? and jesus doyler is for the glue factory
― r|t|c, Saturday, 24 August 2013 09:25 (eleven years ago) link
Sako is nowhere near worth what we're paying him but the transfer interest has dried up. His end product is usually shite, over-hit crosses or shots from 30 yards that nearly kill some poor kid in row T.
i have a soft spot for Doyler and i do think he's got something to offer, but again the money he's on is way too much to justify in League 1. weird that Griffiths didn't come on til so late, he was excellent in the first home game. i'll take the scrappy win over good opposition tho, Crawley will probly be thereabouts come the end of the season.

The Championship is billed as the most competitive and therefore most entertaining league in Europe in some quarters, but this game was, like so many others in this division, rather like watching two slightly overweight men bumping into each other on a narrow staircase. The league is evenly matched, but I’m more inclined to agree with Mick McCarthy’s assessment that “everybody is as bad as each other” than see it as some kind of positive. Rangers have settled into the monotonous pattern well, happily bashing into both Sheff Wed and Huddersfield and waiting for the errors, set pieces and very occasional moments of individual brilliance that cause 90% of the second tier’s goals to come along.

Lol! Donny Rovers chairman just said "It is health & safety gone mad". I was at Sixfields once and 1-0 down, getting outplayed. Very windy day and a hoarding blew off one of the stands and injured a fan about 5 rows in front of me. Game called off and we won the replay which happened to fall at a time we were on an unbeaten run.

I don't how we got James Vaughan for a song, what a player!. Well I do know how we got him, his injury record scared off most other suitors. If he stays fit we might be struggling to keep hold of him cometh the next transfer window.

Flicroft on the Mvoto red card today."I got the opportunity to speak to Jordan Rhodes who I know really well and I've seen the incident.
"What Jordan's told me is that he's backed into him [M'voto] and propelled himself forward, so he's got a very good decision for his team.
"That's cute, clever and why Jordan will become a Premier League player. He's incredible at this level and is one of the most honest kids I know. I looked him in the eyes and he had to tell me the truth and he did.
"Has the referee been conned? From what I know now, he has been. He's got to make a split decision, I understand that, but the decision is too big, just don't make it."

lol just read about Milwall having to play in Wednesday's away kit because they forgot their own. how did that get forgotten?! surely there's a bloke whose job that is, this isn't sunday league
― Third Rate Zoo Keepers With Tenth Rate Minds (Windsor Davies), Sunday, 25 August 2013 00:16 (eleven years ago) link
It is a strange kind of fuck-up when your only job requirement is to turn up with the kit, not a lot to fuck up there. Kit bloke ambles off coach, pulls hip-flask out of pocket and swigs. "Who are are we playing today?".
