Suarez - no
Rooney - yes
Bale - next year for less money
Lescailles-Mendy - yes

all will be anti-climactic obviously

Ismael Klata, Monday, 12 August 2013 14:48 (twelve years ago)

next year for 75m would be fine by me if he gives us another season like last

darraghmac, Monday, 12 August 2013 14:50 (twelve years ago)

I don't think Rooney's happening. Certainly not at the prices Chelsea are currently offering. It just doesn't make sense for Utd on any level

theres a bit of a backlash in the madrid press/fan goldfish bowl about paying a world record fee for a player who will still be #2 to ronaldo

so theres a chance it doesnt happen but more because perez has covered his back with the 'a lot of money' comments and can at least show he tried to get him

if it doesnt happen then suarez becomes an option, tactically he could be very useful for ancelotti because he can play any of the forward positions

Atsu to spurs for 1m?

darraghmac, Monday, 12 August 2013 15:10 (twelve years ago)

Atsu sounds likely. Halilovic might be on again.

Norwich and Sunderland are apparently fighting over Quagliarella.

Surprised one of the mid-range PL teams haven't bid the £5m Celtic are being asked for Finnbogason.

it's like how 'natural goalscorers' in the afonso alves vein fail to transfer to higher leagues because their 'instinct' reflected the naivete of the opposition, whereas a player like thierry henry with an unremarkable scoring record can become great because his exceptional physical and technical skills were not contingent in the same way.

lower epl sides should always look for athletic / technical upside rather than finisher types like boselli or bianchi

Confirmed: Arsenal were in the stadium on Saturday scouting Bakkali.

I know m8, thanks for consolation. It's just that if any club in the world will buy a 17 year old it would be Arsenal (Wenger)

Artur Petrosyan ‏@arturpetrosyan
Eto'o prefers Chelsea to Inter. Mourinho being the main factor. Now it's up to Abramovich to decıde ıf he wants to pay hım €20m a year.

Artur Petrosyan ‏@arturpetrosyan
Seems like he'll have to resign himself to agreeing to get just €10m per year.

for a 32 year old

Number None, Monday, 12 August 2013 20:05 (twelve years ago)

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes the scouting system is the most advanced in world football - better than previous clubs Real Madrid, Porto and Inter Milan.

Thousands of players are constantly under assessment by the club's network of scouts all over the world.

Chelsea will only consider a player if scouts score them 90 per cent or more in various areas of their game.

It's the reason Radamel Falcao was overlooked by Chelsea when his 'movement outside box' fell short of the magical 90 per cent minimum. But Andre Schurrle was deemed to be a good signing by the Bridge hierarchy.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of Barcelona B youngster Albert Torras.

The 17-year-old central midfielder is manager Kenny Jackett's second signing of the summer after he secured the services of Sam Ricketts from Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer.

i've written to Kenny and told him he can have me however he wants me

I thought this was an interesting aside in the guardian preview:

Since Ferguson made the claim in early May, the farrago has descended beyond the point where it could be addressed by United, admitting what they accept privately: that Rooney never made any demand to depart during the meeting with the 71-year-old in the former manager's office. No public statement confirming this has been forthcoming because of the difficulties for United in questioning Ferguson, British football's most successful manager

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 08:06 (twelve years ago)

Yeah I wondered about that too. So are we meant to assume that fergie has engineered this debacle? It would seem to be SAF that rooney has the problem with. Revenge is a dish best served ice cold.

Third Rate Zoo Keepers With Tenth Rate Minds (Windsor Davies), Tuesday, 13 August 2013 08:26 (twelve years ago)

It was as much the suggestion that: (a) nobody at OT has the nerve to tell the truth without his approval; and (b) he's not coöperating

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 08:29 (twelve years ago)

It's maybe more likely that they cannot prove he said he wanted to leave, which he clearly does.

some rumblings about barton going there too

r|t|c, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 11:34 (twelve years ago)

Southampton fans might have been slightly uneasy after critical comments by the former Kilmarnock manager, Kenny Shiels, about the 22-year-old Kenyan after his move. "Any time we played Celtic I would tell our lads not to worry about him being on the ball because he doesn't keep it very well," he said. "Lennon deserves a knighthood for getting someone to pay £12.5m. We found that when you gave Wanyama space he didn't have the natural instincts to know what to do with the ball. We'd press players like Joe Ledley and Charlie Mulgrew but we dropped off Wanyama and most of the time we got the ball back from him."

Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 13:02 (twelve years ago)

Kenny Shiels is generally full of shite but I think on balance I agree with him there. Wanyama does lots of things very well but his distribution is often terrible.

some rumors that Parker is also on the way out at Spurs, but not to QPR, sounds like he could end up at West Ham too

Parker / Henry / Barton three man midfield would be a sight to behold.

parker's gone for a medical, that lovely daughter of his drove him down, he's stitting down at reception now having a nice cup of tea, the nurses have given him a blanket and everything

darraghmac, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 14:38 (twelve years ago)

granero took his lifetime destined place alongside karl on saturday, made his customary ineffective and borderline petulant contribution, bottled a tackle that led to us conceding, got the hook for swp who done alright. won't be seeing him again

r|t|c, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 14:59 (twelve years ago)

i thought sociedad were in for granero?
tough choice, lining up with henry or moving to san sebastian and playing in the champions league

mizzell, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 15:47 (twelve years ago)

Would like to read extracts from Granero's diaries in which he discusses his departure from Madrid and his time at QPR. I wonder what he's made of Redknapp.
