Any word on Bale's prospective wages? I wouldn't've thought Real would have to stretch too far

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 8 August 2013 10:22 (twelve years ago)

I think if you're the most expensive footballer of all time you get to command decent money.

Lisandro Lopez has gone to Qatar - does that mean Gomis will probably stay put or are they still going to be hawking him to all and sundry?

Looks like Igor Denisov will be going to Dinamo Moscow.

Number None, Thursday, 8 August 2013 15:09 (twelve years ago)

lol

Dr Peter Who? (darraghmac), Thursday, 8 August 2013 16:22 (twelve years ago)

they need to get De Gea in the same room as him to force a Man U strip onto him, that's how you respect a player's contract

A pity, I would've liked to have seen it. Should've offered 25 mil and thrown in twp as a makeweight

Third Rate Zoo Keepers With Tenth Rate Minds (Windsor Davies), Thursday, 8 August 2013 16:40 (twelve years ago)

aw i think they still have feelings for him.

ewar woowar (or something), Thursday, 8 August 2013 16:43 (twelve years ago)

Arsenal should get straight in there and make him an offer he can't refuse, that'd be true A+ transfer trolling

The concept of making the Zuiderzee docile (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Thursday, 8 August 2013 17:51 (twelve years ago)

Playoff winners of Division 2 in 1997, the place in Nationwide Division 1 is the highest achievement of this English club for about 100 years. Their longserving manager Dario Gradi has turned the team into an academy for young talents. Now they're fighting hard to stay in this division.
That's probably the club I most like outside Bulgaria. Although I don't get much information here, I search all their results, news, best players, etc.. I started supporting them about 2 years ago. I had heard of them before, from the time they were in Division 3, but I didn't care that much. Later, while getting more and more interested in English football, I selected a team in each division that I liked. I started betting, and that made me check out every result. I can't say I'm interested in any other team as much as in them - I found their homepages on the internet, I watch the match reports on Sky Sports, I read all I can find in newspapers. If anybody can send me more information about the "railwaymen", as well as their fans to message me, just contact me through e-mail: chi✧✧✧@geocit✧✧✧.c✧✧. Here's the homepage of the club done by Nationwide:

Gervinho goes to Roma for £8m? Truly money has no value.

Spending €100m on Gareth Bale 'seems a lot' says Real Madrid president

Tottenham still want more money for Welsh forward

impasse finally reached or what

i love this quote.
it does seem a lot.

11x Gervinho somehow seems to undervalue Bale.

Owner and chairman Assem Allam insists the change will help the club widen its international appeal, admitting he would prefer the club to be known simply as Hull Tigers.

“Hull City is irrelevant. My dislike to the word City is because it is common,” he said.

“City is also associated with Leicester, Bristol, Manchester and many other clubs.

“There are so many teams with the same identity, it is irrelevant. “I don’t like being like everyone else. I want the club to be special.

“In the commercial world, the shorter name, the better. The more it can spread quickly.

“I have always used short names in business. It gives you power in the science in marketing. The shorter, the more powerful the message. In Tigers, we have a really strong brand.

“It is about identity. City is a lousy identity. Hull City Association Football Club is so long.”

What sort of useless Youtube montage hack works up such a superbly bombastic opening and then DOESN'T go into 'Eye of the Tiger'?

Matt DC, Friday, 9 August 2013 09:13 (twelve years ago)

Tigers are very common. There are lots of clubs called "Tigers". Should change it to Hull Ocelots.

The shorter, the more powerful the message.

Anyone know anything about Shakhter Karagandy? ShariVari, I'm looking in your direction.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 9 August 2013 10:25 (twelve years ago)

They were given a 60 month ban for match fixing in 2008 that was somehow reduced to a 9 point deduction. They are ranked way down in the 300s in UEFA, close to many of Celtic's compatriots. If we can lose to St Mirren we can lose to Shakhter Karagandy.

Rummmpatitum, Rummmpatitum Traboo, Traboo, Traboo (onimo), Friday, 9 August 2013 10:29 (twelve years ago)

They beat BATE Borisov, ranked one place above Celtic, in their first qualifier.

Rummmpatitum, Rummmpatitum Traboo, Traboo, Traboo (onimo), Friday, 9 August 2013 10:34 (twelve years ago)

That's the spirit!

Ismael Klata, Friday, 9 August 2013 10:34 (twelve years ago)

:/

I was looking at last year's rankings - Karagandy now up to 244 - above St Johnstone, Hibs and Aberdeen.

Rummmpatitum, Rummmpatitum Traboo, Traboo, Traboo (onimo), Friday, 9 August 2013 10:37 (twelve years ago)

Karagandy won the league last year but they've had a much tougher time this season and are some way behind Astana and Aktobe at the moment. They're a fairly solid mix of Kazakhs and wandering ex-Yugoslavs but i'd expect Celtic to get through.

Inte Regina Lund eller nån, mitt namn är (ShariVari), Friday, 9 August 2013 10:38 (twelve years ago)

Quite a coup to draw a side never-before-mentioned on ILX anyway

Ismael Klata, Friday, 9 August 2013 10:40 (twelve years ago)

Cementing their nonentity status before they dump us out on our arses, like a latterday Artmedia Bratislava :-(

ailsa, Friday, 9 August 2013 10:43 (twelve years ago)

We got Milan. We're the underdog, want revenge for 2005, Serie A doesn't even start till after the first leg and we're playing at home first. Awesome draw.

Le Bateau Ivre, Friday, 9 August 2013 10:47 (twelve years ago)

big black cloud over Scotland; bright sunshine & birds singing in the Netherlands

Ismael Klata, Friday, 9 August 2013 10:51 (twelve years ago)

Arsenal / Fener will be fun.

Lol IK

Le Bateau Ivre, Friday, 9 August 2013 10:58 (twelve years ago)

My pessimism does my head in. Wins against Man Utd, Milan and Barcelona are forgotten more quickly than defeats to Artmedia.

They beat BATE Borisov, ranked one place above Celtic, in their first qualifier.

BATE have been pretty terrible this season so it's not a huge sign that Celtic should be worried.

Inte Regina Lund eller nån, mitt namn är (ShariVari), Friday, 9 August 2013 11:02 (twelve years ago)

i'd been wondering if shakhter karagandy werent the football club that most sound like some guy's name
