If PSV defend their 2-0 lead tonight, we will draw either Zenit, AC Milan, Arsenal, Schalke or Lyon.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 18:04 (twelve years ago)

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 18:10 (twelve years ago)

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 18:12 (twelve years ago)

anyone who watches a lot of ligue 1 got an opinion on Capoue?

anonanon, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 20:35 (twelve years ago)

Ok, we cruised past Zulte Waregem w 0-3.

Not sure what team I hope we draw. Arsenal and Lyon for the ILX massive. Though of the five, Lyon might actually be the least strong, too?

Where are the Frenchies anyway?

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:00 (twelve years ago)

United inevitably settling for Fellaini with the weary pragmatism of a plain bride in a Victorian novel.

Bride of Frankenstein.

Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:14 (twelve years ago)

I dunno, haven't seen them for a while; we're a few good men down and the new season almost upon us.

You don't want Arsenal, they have the knack of cruising through qualifiers. Milan stormed home last season, both Schalke and Lyon were a bit wobbly iirc. What's happened with Zenit, did I read that Hulk has left?

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:16 (twelve years ago)

Hulk was threatening to quit Russia because he doesn't like the referees / disciplinary system. He's just sulking because he got suspended for pushing one. Zenit won their qualifier 5-0 this evening.

Inte Regina Lund eller nån, mitt namn är (ShariVari), Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:23 (twelve years ago)

hulk is shit

Gareth Bale's dream move to Real Madrid is almost complete, with the Spurs star possibly moving for as much as a world-record £105million.

Real only want to pay £100m for Bale, but Perez wants to get his man no matter what and is aware Spurs want more.

r|t|c, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:32 (twelve years ago)

you just couldnt resist could you levy

imago, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:35 (twelve years ago)

£105m, plus £1 in two 50p pieces on general franco's eyes

r|t|c, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:36 (twelve years ago)

Real only want to pay £100m for Bale

ffs this is one pitiful sentence

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:39 (twelve years ago)

and not a penny more oh alright then

r|t|c, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:40 (twelve years ago)

guys I did a "who should your premiership team be?" thing today and I got Southampton, how should I feel about that?

Just Elevate... And Decide In The Air -- Above the Rim (dan m), Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:41 (twelve years ago)

pretty relieved

imago, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:41 (twelve years ago)

they play some of the best football in the league, they've got relatively likeable owners, a progressive manager and swygart supports them. what more cudja want

imago, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:42 (twelve years ago)

alvaro morata and dani carvajal just set fire to a building full of trade unionists and arranged their corpses to say HALA MADRID for the ensuing flashmob

The concept of making the Zuiderzee docile (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:42 (twelve years ago)

southampton 'are being linked' to ever banega, who really ought to be playing in the champions league

The concept of making the Zuiderzee docile (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:44 (twelve years ago)

relatively likeable owners who perpetuated the harshest sacking in recent football history, may I add...although the ends have possibly justified in this case

imago, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:46 (twelve years ago)

ah, we've all forgotten about that

Number None, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:47 (twelve years ago)

Southampton - good choice. We have, what, two Saints already; but they're a decent club, good history of flair, cracking record with the young talent, used to have a great ground, finished second in I'm guessing 1983? Have had a massive lull in recent years but have bounced back, though are a bit spendthrift of late. No local derbies for the foreseeable future, that's the other downside.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:47 (twelve years ago)

if sergio ramos had been born 70 years before he was he'd have a fucking skull on his mantelpiece

imago, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:48 (twelve years ago)

I want to say 1984, I'm really regretting not going for 1984.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:49 (twelve years ago)

lovely saints with their ruthless chief exec, sell-out shirts and dead man's cash funding ott bids for fancy players. warms the fucking cockles alright

r|t|c, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:49 (twelve years ago)

also bournemouth might be going up klata, given their thoroughly convincing* defeat of an excellent* charlton last week

*cough

imago, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:50 (twelve years ago)

oh you can stuff your cuddly tony fernandes thataway rtc

imago, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:51 (twelve years ago)

Is Bournemouth near Southampton then? Never had the pleasure.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:51 (twelve years ago)

Saints going down maybe more likely tbh, hampshire's got form.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:52 (twelve years ago)

very happy mcclean is going to wigan to join macarthur, mccarthy, macmanaman, and maloney and add to the wonderful phonetic pileup in midfield

anonanon, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:55 (twelve years ago)

reading - soton wouldn't exactly be a local derby but it would be ridden with pathos (although adkins has already faced soton since joining reading so not AS pathos-ridden as that time)

and hampshire does border berkshire so

wigan should absolutely fucking destroy the championship obv

imago, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:56 (twelve years ago)

an epl side should match £2m for mcclean

The concept of making the Zuiderzee docile (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:57 (twelve years ago)

Curses, it was 1984. Southampton only three points behind champions Liverpool. Liverpool, who won the league that year.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:58 (twelve years ago)

And the European Cup.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:59 (twelve years ago)

£2m for a one trick pony and complete bell end, seen worse deals i suppose

r|t|c, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 22:00 (twelve years ago)

Luis Suarez's contract does not have a clause obliging Liverpool to sell him for a fee in excess of £40m, says players' union chief Gordon Taylor.
"If there is a minimum offer of £40m then the parties will discuss things but it does not say the club has to sell," said Taylor, boss of the Professional Footballers' Association.
"There is a 'good faith' clause in relation to serious discussions, but I can't say it is a cast-iron buy-out clause."

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 22:02 (twelve years ago)

you have yes oh xp klata damn you

imago, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 22:02 (twelve years ago)

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 22:03 (twelve years ago)

Dr Peter Who? (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 August 2013 22:06 (twelve years ago)

Assaidi would run riot in the Championship imo.

ewar woowar (or something), Wednesday, 7 August 2013 22:08 (twelve years ago)

r|t|c, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 22:08 (twelve years ago)
