― mizzell, Monday, 29 July 2013 19:39 (twelve years ago)
Not really, no, I just keep up with how the various 'Mericans are doing and pay attention to the top of the table matches/important stuff at the end of the season. The thing is that nowhere near this # of games have ever been available without shelling out $ for the premium TV channels like FOX Soccer/beIN/GolTV. This new arrangement will be much more widely available, including a lot of over-the-air broadcast matches.

That's a great deal Dan!
As per the new season, Rupert Murdoch also landed in Holland. He bought the rights to the live footy. First action: doubling the subscription prices. I'm out.

I was actually going to start a CL thread before we played Cliftonville, but didn't. You can pop over to the Scottishers thread for all your belated pointing-and-laughing-at-Hibs needs.

why haven't Celtic had a feeder club (Glasgow East End FC or similar) entered in the lower reaches of English football for the past decade, instead of pissing about with half-arsed schemes to try to persuade premiership turkeys to vote for christmas? Two bunches of fans in England have done that in less time than the old firm have been talking about getting out of Scottish football - one of them is pretty close to being owners of a league club already, and the other isn't that far off, and neither of them have much in the way of resources. Then when GEE reach the championship or wherever, change their name to Celtic, their strip from stripes to hoops, and move them into Parkhead, and there you go.― Ismael Klata, Thursday, 23 September 2010 09:54 (2 years ago)

Oh ffs, from that Guardian article: "The fate of their fierce city rivals, Glasgow Rangers, who went into financial liquidation last year and are currently trying to fight their way back to the top through Scotland's lower divisions..."
They aren't called Glasgow Rangers, neither were the club that were liquidated, and the fact that they were liquidated means they're pretty much not going back anywhere, what with being dead and everything (also wtf "financial liquidation", as opposed to what? Being physically stuck in a blender?)
― ailsa, Tuesday, 30 July 2013 12:35 (twelve years ago)
Also, this is kind of shite as well "They are participating in a league which is not fit for its primary purpose – of providing competition". Aye, tell that to Ross County (just up, beat us and drew with us), Kilmarnock (just recorded first victory at Celtic Park since the dawn of fucking time) and St Johnstone (only beat them once in four attempts) for example. OK, we still romped it, but we've had easier seasons than last. And the rest of the league was competitive as fuck.

PSV fielding the third youngest squad in the CL ever tonight, average age is 21 years and 147 days. Only Zalgiris Vilnius (1992) and Pyunik Yerevan (2011) had younger teams. What a transformation.

PSV looking comfortable so far. Knew i should have taken 5/1 on Sheriff getting a draw at Zagreb.

Ahh that was briljant. Dominated 90mins with frivolous football. Not seen this the last ten years, honestly.
A 17y old in his first year, homegrown winger, Bakkali, was man of the match. Revelation. And finally we have a good defense, Rekik on loan from Man City and Bruma, both flawless.
LBI, cool it now. Ok guys, but srsly happy.

Zakaria Bakkali (Liège, 26 January 1996) is a Belgian professional football from Moroccon descent player who currently plays for PSV Eindhoven. He's a youth exponent from the club.
