Good window for Utd so far though!

Yeah idk which story i believe less here, split the difference and call it a 25m opening bid
― mundane peaceable username (darraghmac), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 13:12 (twelve years ago)
if utd countered chelsea 'unsettling' rooney by making up the exchange offer and doing the same back at them with mata, that is a pretty inspired don't fuck with us. i want to believe.
― Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 13:18 (twelve years ago)
"jose said he'd pay £600m and show us his wife's saggy knockers but we were totally like no ha ha what a loser" - official man utd statement
― r|t|c, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 13:25 (twelve years ago)
Rooney doesnt unsettle, he settles, both in the sense of for less and as any blubbery mass does when trundling to a slow stop when momentum ceases to carry it

When did my views on tfwp become so fuckin mainstream btw fuck off the bandwagon you've earnt nothing
― mundane peaceable username (darraghmac), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 13:29 (twelve years ago)
it's now believed the bid was 10m plus mata or luiz or 8m plus terry plus mata or torres -5m plus danny welbeck to the power of scholes.
― Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 13:30 (twelve years ago)
Bid was straight swap, that physio for pnev, giggs and rooney
― mundane peaceable username (darraghmac), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 13:31 (twelve years ago)
think around here there's always been a coven of believers. was nice to see the virtual streets lined with people proudly testifying last night though, and nobody willing to oppress their views any longer. hammering statues of rooney with the soles of their shoes.
― Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 13:32 (twelve years ago)
i'm seeing on some sites that chelsea offered utd the choice of 25m or the contents of a "mystery box"
― Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 13:37 (twelve years ago)
moyes offered to play russian roulette - if he loses, 20m fair deal, if he wins chelsea must double their price.
― Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 13:40 (twelve years ago)

Arsenal six up in Vietnam atm, quietly impressive from The Gunners
― Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 13:51 (twelve years ago)
if they can get an away result at vietnam you'd have to imagine they might pick up more points from stoke in future.

does anyone know much about this bernard from atletico mineiro btw? telegraph and others saying liverpool are interested. seems like he'll prob fuck with us for a week or two then join someone in the cl.
― Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 14:07 (twelve years ago)
I was in Vietnam a few weeks ago, and anything Arsenal can do to steal away fans from Man Utd would be good for the country. That said, I did meet *one* local who didn't support Utd, and he was a Southampton fan, which seems a particularly odd choice.
Any idea who the make-weight player was who was apparently part of the offer from Norwich?Nope, no idea. Probably a token gesture of one of the truck-load of players we've dumped or shipped out on loan this summer...

he's tiny. 5'4" or so, plays as a winger knocks in some goals has some tricks. has already been linked with spurs and arsenal this summer. came on as a sub for brazil in the cofed this summer, looks pretty good.
― mizzell, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 14:28 (twelve years ago)
Suarez looks quite a big lad for once in that advert. Coutinho's little too I think, not sure anyone else bar Gerrard has much presence. Might be an idea to add an old-fashioned battering-ram type.
― Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 14:38 (twelve years ago)
god this reminds me of a dream i had last night in which manchester city had signed a fullback who was about 5' tall
first i saw him next to another player and he looked comically small by comparison, then i realized the other player was jesus navas
didn't catch the name but he looked vaguely mexican

Do you have dreams where you're playing football? I do sometimes, but they're always based around a single go I had in player mode on ps3 (I was Nando) rather than any football experience I've ever had in actual life.

When asked if the Blues had made any other bids for players, Mourinho said: "No - and we won't." And when asked if it is now Rooney or bust, he said: "Yes."

New Atalanta signing Giulio Migliaccio and a number of the club’s fans are under investigation by the Italian Football Association (FIGC) after they drove a tank over two cars emblazoned with the names of the side’s rivals, Brescia and Roma.
The tank crushed the cars as part of Atalanta’s official season opening celebration evening, as well as Migliaccio’s official presentation, much to the delight of several hundred supporters.
It is nothing new, however, with the tank having been used for pre-season parades since 2008. Claudio Caniggia, Cristiano Doni and, last year, German Denis were also paraded on the tank, which is owned by a local Atalanta fan.
However, unlike this year, the tank did not crush any cars symbolising Atalanta’s rivals.

Fabregas to Utd looks like it's on. Shouldn't Arsenal have a go?

he's gonna look pathetic enough leaving Barcelona. Going back to Arsenal would be too much too bear

£20 million opening bid for Wayne Rooney hilariously otm.
Was saying to my pops earlier, who does Rooney think he's kidding, which mug of a top team does he think will actually meet the asking price and make him first choice - well apparently we now know. Best possible outcome to the years of rumours about Falcao / Cavani / Lewi / Suarez coming in to replace Torres imo.
Cesc to Utd I confess to being a little miffed about, would've been delighted if the guy had found his way back to Arsenal. What's going on with Higuain atm? Has that all fallen through yet?

Also re: Cesc, how "on" is "looks like it's on"? I though Sid Lowe : Man In the Know was saying he wouldn't leave Barca if they paid him to go

http://www.brentwoodschool.co.uk/store/news/Ed-Woodward-Man-Utd.jpeg
Woodward, 40, went to the same school as Frank Lampard and is a neighbour of Gary Lineker but his background was outside football until - while working as an investment banker for JP Morgan, having studied physics at Bristol University - he assisted the Glazers' takeover of United in 2005. He is pledging a more open era at United in terms of communicating with the media and supporters.
In his previous role Woodward masterminded United's extraordinary commercial expansion, via a series of regional sponsorship deals, and he believes the club are "only at the foot of the mountain" in terms of maximising income - and that United's transfer power will grow and grow as revenue continues to soar.
"Because we're popular in so many countries we can take [major deals] to 100 countries. We have partnerships with mobile networks in 44 countries. We've done the same with credit cards. Our financial services business is in 20 countries. Our soft drinks is only up to single digits."
"It's like a matrix of countries and then categories. The categories we look at - there are obvious ones that tend to be big in terms of sponsorship, like airlines, cars, financial services,. But there's a long, long tail. Watches. We've identified 94 different categories. I'm not trying to say we can do 94 x 100 deals... but that's why it's a mountain. There's a long way to go. We do a lot of research and we believe we are the number 1 television programme, globally, on an annual basis. We can't compete with the World Cup or the Olympics but on an annual TV ratings basis [it is] Man United. Two years ago 4.2bn people watched us."
