eto'o/zlatan overvalued the latter but it was more the wrong player once messi was gravitating to the false #9 role than an inferior player....zlatan has had greater longevity than eto'o

twp/mata is more whimsical/stupid because however the comparison of their best levels works, twp is 3 years older and already looks slightly worn out

Manchester United rejected Chelsea's opening offer for Wayne Rooney on Tuesday night and remain insistent the England striker is not for sale.

Chelsea have confirmed the bid but denied offering cash plus a player, either Juan Mata or David Luiz, in part exchange for the 27-year-old.

Mata was what, £25m(?) or thereabouts two years ago and is arguably a better now and has the higher profile/inflated value of being in TBLITW, meaning Utd are valuing their reserve striker/right-back at >£40-50m.

Chelsea are understood to be furious about the leak of their bid and released a statement on Wednesday which read: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm that yesterday it made a written offer to Manchester United for the transfer of Wayne Rooney. Although the terms of that offer are confidential, for the avoidance of doubt and contrary to what is apparently being briefed to the press in Sydney, the proposed purchase does not include the transfer or loan of any players from Chelsea to Manchester United."
