"It really is quite sad and a kick in the teeth for Paul [Lambert]," Gregory told The Birmingham Mail.

"When Dwight [Yorke] told me he didn't want to play for Villa anymore I was like: "Whaaatttt?" Paul will feel the same, I'm sure."

so what do we think of Nacer Chadli?

mizzell, Wednesday, 10 July 2013 19:09 (thirteen years ago)

He has looked good every time I've seen him. Could play either side in a 4-3-3.

I gather Wanyama's pretty good, but £12.5m seems awfully pricey?

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 10 July 2013 20:14 (thirteen years ago)

I think that might just be the way we get business done now. £7m Rodriguez, £12m Ramirez... If we want them, then we tend to move in big. Sort of anti-Moneyball, in a way - we are very keen to let people know that we are Of Means.

William Bloody Swygart, Wednesday, 10 July 2013 21:09 (thirteen years ago)

think i remember another club like that

Never occurred to me that Parker might have World Cup hopes - feel I'm being a bit harsh on a current squad member tbh.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 11 July 2013 11:47 (thirteen years ago)

Bayern in for Alcantâra, how'd ya like that huh?

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 11 July 2013 12:05 (thirteen years ago)

Strootman looks like he might be going to Roma. Maybe de Rossi is off to Chelsea after all.

bayern probably best off carrying on telling pep to stfu every time he has a transfer brainwave

r|t|c, Thursday, 11 July 2013 14:42 (thirteen years ago)

Brentford have signed Javi Venta from Villareal (??!!?!?!!).

Not sure that a 37 year old who has never played outside Spain is what you need in league one.

Rooney looking even more like the protagonist from Bully than usual in that weird montage pic.

Is Moyes praying to the King of Thailand? Is that a normal thing to do?

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 11 July 2013 15:28 (thirteen years ago)

comrades this is an outrage, i demand we cast out klata the unbeliever at once

r|t|c, Thursday, 11 July 2013 15:36 (thirteen years ago)

Hey I know he's popular, my local Thai shop has a portrait of the dude behind the counter - but I don't bow to it when I'm buying my sacks of fragrant rice, is this some terrible faux pas?

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 11 July 2013 15:44 (thirteen years ago)

Sky Italia saying Thiago to Bayern is a done deal. I feel so...humiliated

Number None, Thursday, 11 July 2013 15:45 (thirteen years ago)

the gap between bayern and ynahtid isnt as big as dortmund and liverpool but its still pretty big

he loves guardiola and seems to think he can get into the spain xi summer, fairly optimistically

tempted to caveat this cuz sky italia havent always been completely reliable in the past

Not sure about that one tbh, although he doesn't quite fit into any system AVB plays, he's useful squad player and if I were Levy I'd want to be very sure about getting a quality striker in before letting another source of goals go.

He doesn't really strike me as a Martinez player.

Matt DC, Thursday, 11 July 2013 15:55 (thirteen years ago)

I mean Utd missing out on big players is nothing new - Hazard and Moura last season, Ronaldinho back in the day - but i'd really gotten my hopes up for this one. An honest to god creative midfielder. Ah well, perhaps I can learn to love big Fell's flailing elbows

Number None, Thursday, 11 July 2013 15:58 (thirteen years ago)

Would have Dempsey at villa park in a heartbeat tbh, especially if benteke's off

anonanon, Thursday, 11 July 2013 16:10 (thirteen years ago)

I saw a kid walking round town in a Stoke shirt with SHOTTON on the back. Thought it was v admirable.

Wilfried Bony has a nickname at Vitesse, he is known as “Daddy Cool”. Therefore his goal tune is Boney M’s “Daddy Cool”.

'Last night there was an attempted kidnap of Bruma by Juve Leo (Sporting fans) at the hotel where he lives. We have registered a complaint (with the police), and we have been informed it was done at the behest of Sporting’s management.'

mizzell, Thursday, 11 July 2013 17:37 (thirteen years ago)

talksport's "belgian football expert" said Chadli has been playing in central midfield (he even said he could see Belgium lining up with Chadli Witsel Dembele as their midfield in the world cup) but most reports call him a winger. what is he?

mizzell, Thursday, 11 July 2013 18:18 (thirteen years ago)

by all accounts he's another one of those versatile attacking mids who can play anywhere across the front three, but I think he typically plays on the left. I've heard he's played a game or two at striker as well. He certainly seems big enough to play there or deeper in midfield. would love to have him at spurs on the cheap (entering the last year of his deal)
