not sure how i feel about jozy to sunderland. i like him scoring lots of goals in the netherlands. hope it works out if he moves.
― mizzell, Wednesday, 3 July 2013 13:40 (thirteen years ago)
I'm inclined to think he'd tank there, no idea what his contract situation is like at AZ though

How is he personality-wise? I feel like a certain meekness is required to thrive under Di Canio.

Sky Bet @SkyBet 52mBREAKING! We've suspended the betting on Scott Parker joining #QPR after a string of heavy bets! #THFC

Former England captain mate, nothing to sniff at. Lol just remembered the game (or was it just a half) when gazza bazza got the armband. Or was that just a nightmare?
― Third Rate Zoo Keepers With Tenth Rate Minds (Windsor Davies), Wednesday, 3 July 2013 16:45 (thirteen years ago)
jozy's attitude seems better than it was 3-4 years ago, that $10m xfer out of MLS got his head swole for a while but then he got left out of the national team while he sucked it up across spain/england/turkey
of course 30+ goals in a season could've brought that back

Man, Nov 23 is getting even funkier. May have to roll out my 2003 Parker shirt with safety-pinned W/P + N/R substitutions

Do I hear ILF awayday?
― Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 3 July 2013 17:03 (thirteen years ago)
I'm sure there's a player in Shelvey somewhere but he seems to be a bit thick and gung ho and shooting from everywhere so doubt he suits a Rodgers Liverpool. On that basis Swansea poss not ideal either but good luck to him.
― So: The Answers (or something), Wednesday, 3 July 2013 17:15 (thirteen years ago)
Swansea is a weird destination for Shelvey, would have expected a more foreigner-phobic manager/club to gravitate towards him as a youthful attacking option
― anonanon, Wednesday, 3 July 2013 17:26 (thirteen years ago)

Who is he? I can't tell the young Spanish apart any more. Only Isco for his cool name and Navas for his goatee and being fast, the others are just so many sleeperblokes.

i've just watched a negredo video. turns out he - "the beast of vallecas" - is a relatively lumbering english big man in disguise thumping headers and booming mighty shots with a cannon left foot. the epl will surely cower before this fearsome splicing of dzeko and javi garcia
― r|t|c, Thursday, 4 July 2013 10:17 (thirteen years ago)
Negredo had been tipped to join Real Zaragoza or Hull City, but finally decided to sign a reported five-year deal with Sevilla for €15 million, with Real Madrid having an option to rebuy the player in the first two years.[7][8]
Thiago medical tomorrow apparently. Possibly. Maybe.
― Number None, Thursday, 4 July 2013 13:22 (thirteen years ago)
we're apparently trialling one Richard Wood, which sounds like the sort of name you'd love to have at school

I can't wait until tomorrow xp, I need new content now dammit. Never realised I needed football so much. Even GET INVOLVED is reduced to debating the Fifa World Rankings.

nm, imago's bringing it
we could discuss coventry playing at sixfields
― reet pish (imago), Thursday, 4 July 2013 13:30 (thirteen years ago)
feel we'd need both spiralli and passantino to really make a thing of that though
i went to sixfields a bunch of times over a couple of seasons when i had my "disillusioned with the premier$hip" phase, the pathos of which in 2013 is just about enough to make me jump off a bridge. it will be if nothing else a more suitable environment than that large, empty, echoing plastic bowl that they have been playing in. the pitch will be a treat come winter time i am sure.
― Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 4 July 2013 14:14 (thirteen years ago)
Coventry's quite near Northampton, who knew? I was recently having a look at what Highfield Road is now, poignant stuff (i.e. completely unremarkable area, could really use a football ground)

― reet pish (imago), Thursday, 4 July 2013 14:37 (thirteen years ago)
Dear IK, have some AFC Wimbledon news:
We've have signed Charlie Sheringham who will be shite, but have missed out on Ade Akinfenwa who would have been 'a handful' but has signed for Gillingham instead. We've signed a load of other players whose names escape me and Kevin Saint-Luce (who fled Cardiff after slapping a woman in a nightclub) has signed permanently following a loan period last season where he looked ahite but scored a few goals.
There is still talk of building a new stadium where the grehound track currently is but for the time being I look forward to sheltering within the corrugated splendor of our new stand (sposored by South Korea's PREMIER noodle manufacturer because New Malden has the densest population of South Koreans outside South Korea) and enjoying a season of boring mid-table cloggery.
― Blandford Forum, Thursday, 4 July 2013 14:50 (thirteen years ago)
Are New Malden's Koreans significantly represented at your games? I've eaten in the neighbourhood before - nice but kinda pricey was my impression.
What's the story with the dog track? I thought that was still a going concern? Have enjoyed a night out there on occasion fwiw - good fun, pretty reasonable fare, much better than the gee gees imo.
― Ismael Klata, Thursday, 4 July 2013 14:54 (thirteen years ago)
Not at all - I can only assume that the new stand is an attempt to draw them in through their love of noodles. It's certainly a more astute plan than trying to entice them with our wonderful football and fancy 4-where is everyone-2 formation.
The dog track's days are almost certainly numbered, and we have put forward a proposal for a 12,000 capacity stadium, presumably in conjunction with a supermarket or somesuch. It looked like it was definitley going ahead but it seems to have stalled recently. I'd say it was more likey to happen than not though.
― Blandford Forum, Thursday, 4 July 2013 15:04 (thirteen years ago)
(and Palace is the place to eat - not that expensive and really lovely)
― Blandford Forum, Thursday, 4 July 2013 15:16 (thirteen years ago)
This reminds me that a rolling in-ground catering thread was one of my first ideas for ILF - feel it's got more mileage than ever, what with recent talk of farmer's markets and such. Need to get it up & rolling in time for the new season, whenever that is.
― Ismael Klata, Thursday, 4 July 2013 15:20 (thirteen years ago)
Well I will be sure to send a report from my inaugural visit to the AFC carvery - £30 for 3 courses and a match ticket. I feel as though ILF would consider it a very 'real' venue for a League 2 meal.

If we're doing a football catering thread, I'd like to contribute Middlesbrough left-back George Friend's review of the Riverside Restaurant http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/local-news/boro-full-back-george-friend-riverside-3670079
