Was there only one photoshoot for new shirts this year? They let in a bit of smoke at the end.

Pieters and Crouchbot will kill on the dancefloor on a rainy Tuesday night.

Early days, but this guy looks like what I dreamed Bas Dost could be.
― Ismael Klata, Friday, 28 June 2013 21:31 (thirteen years ago)
Haha.
Bas Dost is buried in the dull flame of existence at Wolfsburg. Still half decent though.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Friday, 28 June 2013 21:32 (thirteen years ago)
i really want a Vitesse shirt, it's what Dortmund's should be. Not sure if I want BONY on the back

Should be available at the Chelsea fan shop iirc. It's a good kit though, will give you that.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Friday, 28 June 2013 21:37 (thirteen years ago)
Woah, I just realised Andy Carroll is filling the hole Bas Dost was supposed to be in.

What bemuses me about Pieters moving to the ~PREMIER LEAGUE, THE HOLIEST OF HOLY'S~ is this:
- Pieters has been injured on and off for two years now- Played 16 matches in 2011-2012, and only 2 (!) in 2012-2013- In one of those last two, he got a red, bashed his hand through a glass window, injuring himself for another three months
So HOW does someone at Stoke go "Hmm, that Pieters guy, yeahhhhh let's fork out 3.5million for that guy!"
How?

Wait: I just answered my own question didn't I? Pieters bashing his hand through glass actually sealed the deal for the Stoke ppl in charge right? He's got ~character~
― Le Bateau Ivre, Friday, 28 June 2013 21:42 (thirteen years ago)
You may wish to consider the transfer history of Stoke's new manager
― Ismael Klata, Friday, 28 June 2013 21:49 (thirteen years ago)
City’s Chief Executive Tony Scholes commented: “Erik has a considerable amount of experience of playing at the highest level, both on the international stage with Holland and in the Champions League with PSV Eindhoven.
“He is a player who was identified by our Technical Director Mark Cartwright as one who could strengthen our defensive options and we have been tracking his progress, so we are delighted to have brought him here now.” Hughes stressed: “I am delighted to have secured Erik's signature. The main focus this summer in attempting to strengthen the squad is ensuring it is balanced in key positions."
― r|t|c, Friday, 28 June 2013 21:54 (thirteen years ago)
hughes stressed
True IK, I am in dire need of a crash course on that.
Lol at those quotes RTC. The main quote of the PSV director that was lol-worthy today was: "He deserved this. Erik has a great character."
He's not awful, not saying that, but has a poor mentality, short fuse, and is spending way too much time on twitter and instagram tbh. So yeah, perfect for Stoke really.

4.18, join the dots yourself - but isn't it also in range for Chelsea?
Old Oak is located at the meeting point of two major strategic growth corridors: the London- Luton - Bedford growth corridor and the Western Wedge.
Man, I lap this stuff up. Is there an ILX planning thread I can gorge on?

I like Old Oak Common as it is; I like these wastelands in cities, how your mind closes them over so you don't notice them. Then one day they're full of media firms and street food.
― Ismael Klata, Friday, 28 June 2013 22:26 (thirteen years ago)
fucking idiot vandal cunts, that's a lovely common with a huge area of natural grassland

that copse is one of london's foremost parakeet roosts. know you've gotta hate the damn things now but several thousand braying simultaneously at twilight is sheer avian magic. they make more noise than the fucking megaplex of belial will

fucken roll on november 23rd
really love the way the overground trains from shepherd's bush have to perform the most dazzling array of swoops and swirls across innumerate branch-lines, freight sidings and other assorted railway paraphernalia before finally drawing into willesden junction
― rockety communism (imago), Friday, 28 June 2013 22:36 (thirteen years ago)
Used to see the lit Eurostars paring off before Clapham Junction, off to bed down for the night at North Pole. Magical it were.

There used to be a daily direct Edinbugh to Bournemouth (or somewhere) train that made its London call at Olympia, it must've had to negotiate that clanking Willesden loop.

The lads with the notebooks, heroes all
― Ismael Klata, Friday, 28 June 2013 22:43 (thirteen years ago)
Olympia's platforms are almost superbly lengthy, considering most of its traffic is 4-car units (8 if they're Southern Railways to Milton Keynes)

also, noted, noodle. noted in my fucking cloth-eared pocket guide to DMUs, EMUs and diesel-electric freight locomotives (class 66 forever xoxo)

There was a quiet lad at uni, someone went through his bag once and found a notebook with page upon page of bus registration numbers. No bullying ensued, no more than usual, but there was so much whispering
