I read an interview with Peter saying they wanted younger blood on the board but it was not easy finding people willing to take on second jobs who were not money-orientated. I thought I ticked boxes, so I wrote to Peter and said ‘I’ve got a statue outside and I know a bit about the club’s principles and values’.

Melwood Report: Brendan Rodgers is boss at pool, Fabio Borini introduced a coffee machine to the canteen, and Jamie Carragher was always first in for a massage every morning. That's about it really! I'd already been so none if it was a huge surprise for me, but it was nice to go again, and I'm made up my Dad could go too. Saw the Press Room, went into the gym, then the canteen, and finished standing outside Brendan's office. We were taken there from Anfield in the team coach too, which was nice. Then had a mini-tour of Anfield and a look around the Museum.

i don't think that players can sign officially for a club until the window has opened but you can do a pre-transfer deal whenever

yeah but everywhere you look players are holding up shirts, teams are officially announcing them joining etc, not just Reus type pre-contract announcements. July 1 start date seems a bit meaningless

i don't think it matters much once the season has finished tbh, but it must have certain implications re: tapping up players and such. again, it's not like tapping up doesn't happen but at least in principle clubs have a legal recourse if it happens to them
