I'd like to see both Palace and Brighton in the Prem so feel simultaneously pleased and disappointed.

fuck all those wastemen
i'd settle for Coyle at the moment, Warnock is the only out and out nightmare on that list but i don't think he'll happen
― Koné 2013 (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 23:26 (thirteen years ago)
i repped for owen coyle back in the day so i will reluctantly concede he is probably better than those other cunts
― there is no special cathexis with mini fried donuts (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 23:27 (thirteen years ago)
as a League 1 team i really think the odds of persuading an Ancelotti to come and run a team of Academy prospects is minimal
― Koné 2013 (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 23:31 (thirteen years ago)
mclaren is better than league one so you probably won't get him but even then what the fuck sort of skillset do you need to get out of league one? im sure juan mata would score 40 goals there but it isnt entirely clear that even mourinho would get 100 tpts
― there is no special cathexis with mini fried donuts (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 23:36 (thirteen years ago)
for me this isn't about the banality of getting promoted straight away tho. we've had fuck-awful football for as long as i can remember and since the owner appears to be a skinflint we need somebody who can maximize the benefit of having a Category 1 youth academy and bring a long-term footballing ethos to the club whether the Cro-Magnon elements of the support get behind him or not

jackett's not so bad really tbh, not a man for tiki taka yoof revolution obv but for his ilk you could do a lot worse
― r|t|c, Thursday, 16 May 2013 11:04 (thirteen years ago)
i'm relatively open-minded about Jackett but he doesn't feel like the long-term solution. on the other hand, the long-term solution involves a new Chief Exec and a new owner so
― the league against cool sports (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 16 May 2013 11:19 (thirteen years ago)
I though Jackett was rated? Who's this Karl Pilkington fellow?
― Bees Against Racism (Tom D.), Thursday, 16 May 2013 11:22 (thirteen years ago)
Jackett is an excellent manager. But he isn't as good a dancer as Holloway

It seems to be for Fulham, though you'd've thought Everton might be a decent fit.
― Ismael Klata, Friday, 17 May 2013 10:05 (thirteen years ago)
Definitely! I suppose this puts Brighton in direct competition with Wolves for finding a new manager.

“Bakary Sako now goes for a few million to Fulham. Not bad for a loser,” said Margreitter, who also discussed his own situation and the possibility of a loan move to the Championship.
― r|t|c, Friday, 17 May 2013 12:19 (thirteen years ago)
“Our problem lay in the dressing room,” said Margreitter, who has played just one League game as a substitute since his £500,000 arrival from Austria Vienna last summer.
“Too many players were satisfied. They earn a great deal of money and drive big cars, and they are content with their lot. The hunger that young players bring to a team was simply not there.
“An attitude like that from a club’s leading players is fatal. You could see this in training – quality on paper is not enough.
“When the players were in the Premier League they got a spanking week after week. Some of them probably didn’t want to go back up, preferring a cushy life in the Championship.
“I have never experienced anything like it. At Austria Vienna everyone was hungry and wanted to win games.”
Margreitter claimed the club were too quick to get rid of the man who signed him, Stale Solbakken, and reverted to a more direct style.
“We had a big and well-balanced squad, and Solbakken got us to play cultured football rather than kick and rush,” he said.
“The club was probably too impatient in just giving him six months.
“Dean Saunders then enforced the traditional English virtues, and they did not work.
“The negative spiral continued dragging us down.”

Sako's a cult hero at the Mol but tbh i've seen no evidence he's got the workrate or the pace for the Prem. and i say that as a fan.
Margreitter never got played and nobody's sure whose fault that is.
Today we let go Seb, Hunt and Berra. Hunty is far from being the first I'd wanna see out the door but i assume we wouldn't pay him what he asked.

mclaren fancies it according to some reports
powell link is bizarro. don't think imago's got anything to worry about from leicester, o'neill return seems nailed on unless the cupboard's bare already (which some say it might be tbf)

Have seen mention of Steve Lomas for Millwall, in terms of bookies odds anyway. Done a good job here at Saints on a tight budget, had a few early wobbles but has come on a lot. Will be sad to see him go when he inevitably moves on at some point.
