Hearing that Celtic are opening up one of their lounges for fans to get a pint before the games. Sodom and Gomorrah is upon us!

Hearing that Celtic are opening up one of their lounges for fans to get a pint before the games. Sodom and Gomorrah is upon us!

Saints have been doing this for years - until this season the Muirton Suite was open for season ticket holders (not particularly strongly enforced), now open for all before the game.

michaellambert, Friday, 3 May 2013 17:25 (thirteen years ago)

So long Dundee, we hardly knew ye. I'm not going to miss Bomber's weak troll attempts at mind games.

I only saw 20 minutes of Ross Co vs Celtic today. Proper pish football.

you say potatooles (onimo), Sunday, 5 May 2013 16:02 (thirteen years ago)

Lucky you. It was dreadful. Lennon out, etc.

ailsa, Sunday, 5 May 2013 16:12 (thirteen years ago)

Not quite, like, but this doesn't look like a group motivated to win Scottish Cup places, and I worry about the complacency setting in. Players getting weeks off to go on their holidays doesn't seem like ideal cup motivation to me. I'll be back on full "Lennon out" ranting mode if we fuck that one up though.

ailsa, Sunday, 5 May 2013 16:19 (thirteen years ago)

I might leave the country if Michael fucking Higdon wins it.

Anyone seen my passport?

ailsa, Sunday, 5 May 2013 22:20 (thirteen years ago)

:( We'll see you next year, if Scottish Football lasts that long...

the so-called socialista (dowd), Sunday, 5 May 2013 22:59 (thirteen years ago)

Aw, forgot you were a Dundee fan. You suggesting Celtic are going to get relegated then :)

ailsa, Sunday, 5 May 2013 23:04 (thirteen years ago)

Bad luck dowd, it was always going to be tough with the lateness of the promotion decision.

you say potatooles (onimo), Sunday, 5 May 2013 23:37 (thirteen years ago)

Fair play though, you fought it longer than I thought you would have done. Also, looks like Bomber *might* have been right about the title deeds about Ibrox. Aspersions upthread slightly redacted.

ailsa, Monday, 6 May 2013 00:22 (thirteen years ago)

Michael Higdon celebrates winning poty by getting wrecked and clocking someone in the Corinthian, allegedly.

http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/aberdeen/224358-spl-announce-plan-for-merged-12-10-10-10-league-for-201314-season/

Merged 42 team organisation with play-offs and a pyramid of some description. No changed to 12-10-10-10 structure.

Time for the bun fight to see who runs it all.

you say potatooles (onimo), Tuesday, 7 May 2013 13:41 (thirteen years ago)

^All this assuming of course that St Mirren or Ross County or whoever don't change their minds before the vote again.

Also assuming the SFL clubs go for it.

you say potatooles (onimo), Tuesday, 7 May 2013 13:45 (thirteen years ago)

seems ok on first glance but need to look at it more closely. Anything is gotta be better than the current set up, spl2 and that strange split thing.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Tuesday, 7 May 2013 13:51 (thirteen years ago)

Personally id prefer 2 up 2 down and a bigger league.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Tuesday, 7 May 2013 13:52 (thirteen years ago)

I only saw 20 minutes of Ross Co vs Celtic today. Proper pish football.

Still about a 1000 times better than Liverpool v. Everton and Man. Utd v. Chelsea

Bees Against Racism (Tom D.), Tuesday, 7 May 2013 13:56 (thirteen years ago)

It was a poor excuse for a Super Sunday.

2 up 2 down is better imo too but the play-offs generate a wee bit more income for the clubs involved, meaning more clubs get rewarded for having a decent season. I'd go with 2 down, 1 up and a 4 team play-off at every level - meaning a large of each league in involved in some kind of battle for most of the season.

I'd get rid of this bullshit allowing a 2nd bottom club to avoid relegation by playing a couple of good games after playing shite all season.

you say potatooles (onimo), Tuesday, 7 May 2013 14:04 (thirteen years ago)

yeah thats a much better idea. far too sensible

Happy Wim Day to my fellow Tims! Hard to believe it's 15 years already.

This guy knew the score:

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/jansen-left-searching-for-clues-1246019.html

The mention of Pierre van Hooijdonk, Paolo Di Canio and Jorge Cadete before a game was enough a year ago to raise the roof in anticipation. On Saturday, Henrik Larsson and Regi Blinker hardly registered in the approval stakes. Of the two, Blinker appeared the more capable of causing defenses problems. The former Sheffield Wednesday player showed an exemplary first touch but frequently lacked an outlet when closed down. Larsson's poor touch too often saw him lose possession. The blunt truth is he is not a proven goalscorer and Jock Brown, the general manager, will have to add fire power to the team.

(McKinney's wiki page is a treat btw)

cheeeeerrriiooooooo ten in a row!

That was some day. That was my last season of not having my own season ticket - was sharing with my brother and he went to that one :( I was drinking strawberry flavoured Baileys (don't ask) - the BBC went over to the end of the game live and showed the celebrations etc on whatever the equivalent of Sportscene Final Score was, and I made my flatmates turn over our only telly having been in my room glued to the radio until that point - and spent the evening breaking out into random little jigs in the Halt Bar to the amusement of said flatmates. Weird and happy days!

Wait until later this month when it's happy 10-years-since-Seville day ;_;

(PS aye, some glorious mentalism afoot on McKinney's Wiki page)

Hearts in the shit again: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22560806

And shamelessly nicked off Kerrydale Street in tribute:

Once upon a time they were copying huns
Now they're only falling apart
There's nothing I can do
A total collapse of the Hearts

ailsa, Friday, 17 May 2013 13:46 (thirteen years ago)

It's a bizarre situation. The SPL is taking legal advice on its own rule book that was redrafted after the last insolvency event! Hearts need to get their last game played on Sunday before the SPL pulls its legal finger out in order to stay up.

The Parvenu Fucktard (onimo), Friday, 17 May 2013 13:53 (thirteen years ago)

Yet again, let's hope no-one has any piss-ups requiring organised in any breweries any time soon.

ailsa, Friday, 17 May 2013 13:55 (thirteen years ago)

I wonder if Bomber Brown would campaign to keep Hearts in the SPL for the good of the game.

The Parvenu Fucktard (onimo), Friday, 17 May 2013 13:58 (thirteen years ago)

Hmmm, an interesting dilemma to be sure.

ailsa, Friday, 17 May 2013 14:00 (thirteen years ago)

If Dundee go down and Hearts liquidise in the summer a repeat of last year's shenanigans will see Morton promoted at the last minute with an even worse squad than Dundee had.

The Parvenu Fucktard (onimo), Friday, 17 May 2013 14:06 (thirteen years ago)

Is it bad that I can't bring myself to care about any of this at all?
My interest in football and especially Scottish football is at an all time low.

treefell, Friday, 17 May 2013 14:10 (thirteen years ago)

ach ye only need another handful of insolvencies and Raith are right up with the football elite :)

The Parvenu Fucktard (onimo), Friday, 17 May 2013 14:15 (thirteen years ago)

will see Morton promoted at the last minute with an even worse squad than Dundee had.

Which will make the Morton v. St Mirren the leading derby game in Scotland next season, Scottish football is most definitely in trouble

Bees Against Racism (Tom D.), Friday, 17 May 2013 14:25 (thirteen years ago)

Celtic vs Partick shrly

The Parvenu Fucktard (onimo), Friday, 17 May 2013 14:26 (thirteen years ago)

Oh how could I forget the Jags!

Bees Against Racism (Tom D.), Friday, 17 May 2013 14:32 (thirteen years ago)

Will Morton have to resurrect the plan to groundshare with St Mirren if they go up? Oh the humanity hilarity!

ailsa, Friday, 17 May 2013 14:36 (thirteen years ago)

Fuckin hell, radio scotland has not been fun for this hungover jambo today. Can't see us coming out of this one unscathed.

sktsh, Saturday, 18 May 2013 16:49 (thirteen years ago)

Did they have any news or was it all speculation?

michaellambert, Saturday, 18 May 2013 17:50 (thirteen years ago)

I tuned in and out (puking) but everything i heard was the latter. Sounds v possible that we might stay up this year, but start the season on -15pts, but it doesn't seem like anyone really knows anything for sure.

sktsh, Saturday, 18 May 2013 17:58 (thirteen years ago)

I'm pleased to be in the unexpected position of going into the last game of the season with something to play for and be excited about. Hope we don't do the usual Saints thing of totally buckling like we do every other time something us at stake.

michaellambert, Sunday, 19 May 2013 10:14 (thirteen years ago)

Looking good for your mob just now - peach of a finish by the Ross County lad. The ten minutes of Celtic I saw before my stream gave up completely looked quite impressive, or Dundee Utd looked shite, or both - hard to tell through all the pixelling and stuttering and notepad pop-ups tbh.

ailsa, Sunday, 19 May 2013 12:42 (thirteen years ago)

I gave up on streaming too. Looked like Sami was denied a hat trick by a bad offside call.

The Parvenu Fucktard (onimo), Sunday, 19 May 2013 13:04 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, I was on the phone to my dad when that one went in, knew from Sami's reaction he wasn't getting it, but it looked OK to me (see usual disclaimer about pixelly streams etc)

ailsa, Sunday, 19 May 2013 13:18 (thirteen years ago)

Congratulations to St Johnstone and all their supporter.

ailsa, Sunday, 19 May 2013 13:41 (thirteen years ago)

Ended up on the pitch. Fucking delighted. No need for the snide.

michaellambert, Sunday, 19 May 2013 14:31 (thirteen years ago)

I wasn't being snide - anything that's bad for Caley Thistle is good for me!

ailsa, Sunday, 19 May 2013 16:18 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah congrats michael - really amazing result for your guys, and well deserved. Stuart and Tam totally otm much about the poetic justice of clubs whp've had to live within their means and cut their cloth carefully being the top sides this season.

sktsh, Monday, 20 May 2013 23:12 (thirteen years ago)

Rumours of a "Texan consortium" interested in a 51% stake in Dundee. Should I wander down to Dens Road with a bag of popcorn?

Really pleased with how our season turned out, feel a little sorry for Caley as they were so close. We totally crumbled after the split last season and it was painful. Hopefully we're a wee bit better prepared for Europe this time and Brown Jr doesn't hang himself over it.

I may be a little sensitive to comments like "St Johnstone and all their supporter". It's a sore point for those of us that do turn out, and I try not to get on any high horses about it - this was my first season ticket. We actually had an atmosphere on Sunday (the 'Well supporters helped a lot too!) and it felt like a Real Game, which was great. Atmosphere in the away end at Tannadice a few weeks ago was good too.

michaellambert, Monday, 20 May 2013 23:26 (thirteen years ago)

Also, do we think we can find one last Vlad quote for the thread title next season, or do we close that chapter?

michaellambert, Monday, 20 May 2013 23:27 (thirteen years ago)

Also, Sunday was the most anxious I've been all season, knowing we could do it (even if it relied on other results) given our recent history of bottling it in games that mattered.

michaellambert, Monday, 20 May 2013 23:28 (thirteen years ago)

I may be a little sensitive to comments like "St Johnstone and all their supporter"

Old sort-of meme from round these parts, absolutely no offence meant :)

Dunno if we can muster up a Vlad quote, but I bet I could find a Charles Green one...

ailsa, Monday, 20 May 2013 23:34 (thirteen years ago)

I think if we really wanted to, we could probably find enough jungle book quotes to last ten seasons. Chuckles maybe more fitting though*.

I daresay if we wait until the audio of the board meeting onimo posted about on the other thread is released, we'll probably have a treasure trove of quotes..

(*not particularly looking fwd to the inevitable "Oh come on, you all wanted to liquidate those purple huns too - Angelo Massone" - Scottish Football 2014-15 thread though)

sktsh, Monday, 20 May 2013 23:59 (thirteen years ago)

The feeling I get from twitter Tims is that it's better if Hearts stay up because all that sporting integrity pish goes right out the window when it's annoying Rangers supporters.
