Dodgy looking guy is favourite to become Rangers chief exec

paolo, Sunday, 21 April 2013 09:54 (thirteen years ago)

Also Serie A club Catania are after Johnny Russell :)

paolo, Sunday, 21 April 2013 09:55 (thirteen years ago)

Well done us.

ailsa, Sunday, 21 April 2013 13:59 (thirteen years ago)

Yay us. Literally never in doubt. I watched it at home with a horrible hangover for company.

All for goals were scored with the "wrong" foot today - 2 lefties for Hooper, 1 for Samaras and a right footer from Super Joseph Proper Midfielder Ledley.

RIP Muppet Fat Chef (onimo), Sunday, 21 April 2013 14:57 (thirteen years ago)

I didn't notice ICT had scored until five minutes after the game finished.

RIP Muppet Fat Chef (onimo), Sunday, 21 April 2013 15:01 (thirteen years ago)

I was supposed to be kicking my absence record into touch today with my dad, but logistics of a 12.45 kick-off meant it was never going to happen.

Sky News twitter missed the ICT goal as well, reporting a 4-0 win for Celtic despite their own cameras covering the bloody thing.

ailsa, Sunday, 21 April 2013 15:06 (thirteen years ago)

Neil Lennon jumping about in the stand pointing at his left foot when Hooper scored made me smile. Best bit of TV commentary, Crocker and Walker were discussing the iffy offside call against Stokes. Crocker says something about it being too close to call, Walker says you can't blame the linesman for it, unspecified third voice says "aye you can". Dunno if they'd turned on the mikes on Broonie in the studio or what.

Congrats ye both! (And to the jillions of lurking jags/doonhamers/huns)

sktsh, Monday, 22 April 2013 09:44 (thirteen years ago)

Ach, I went to three games and moaned almost incessantly for the rest of the season. I don't really feel part of any celebratory feeling, tbh.

ailsa, Monday, 22 April 2013 11:47 (thirteen years ago)

Three more than me this season, tbf

sktsh, Monday, 22 April 2013 12:13 (thirteen years ago)

£100 off the tickets for next season, pity it's a one-off discount rather than a permanent fairer pricing policy but it's still better than nothing.

£50 ticket for U13s is back too.

Funny old season this, still 'mon the Bhoys

Tom D (Tom D.), Tuesday, 23 April 2013 15:38 (thirteen years ago)

I assume no-one's asked St Mirren if their League Cup Final win was tainted by not having Strong Rangers challenging them for it? No? Just us?

ailsa, Tuesday, 23 April 2013 22:38 (thirteen years ago)

Yr POTY nominations:

Leigh Griffiths
Michael Higdon
Niall McGinn
Andrew Shinnie

Yr Wee POTY noms:

Stuart Armstrong
Leigh Griffiths
Gary Mackay-Steven
Victor Wanyama

ailsa, Wednesday, 24 April 2013 14:43 (thirteen years ago)

No Kris Commons no credibility.

you say potatooles (onimo), Wednesday, 24 April 2013 14:57 (thirteen years ago)

I think it's super that non-Old Firm players are up for this, but will English premier clubs really be looking at these guys ahead of Wanyama, Hooper or Forster

paolo, Thursday, 25 April 2013 07:47 (thirteen years ago)

That tit on Reporting Scotland yesterday started the feature about the candidates by explaining that The Rangers players weren't eligible because Rangers weren't in the SPL o_O

ailsa, Thursday, 25 April 2013 11:00 (thirteen years ago)

Neil Lennon must be a shoo-in for manager of the year, winning the league at a canter and getting to the last 16 of the CL without any of the best players in Scotland.

you say potatooles (onimo), Thursday, 25 April 2013 12:06 (thirteen years ago)

From the candidates available I'd give both awards to Griffiths for performing consistently well and scoring goals in a poor team.

you say potatooles (onimo), Thursday, 25 April 2013 12:10 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, though I think Gary Mackay-Steven may get YPOTY for some awesome skillz, even though Griffiths has been more consistent. I might leave the country if Michael fucking Higdon wins it.

ailsa, Thursday, 25 April 2013 12:13 (thirteen years ago)

Mackay-Steven is like the SoccerAM Showboat option. He spends a large chunk of most games being ineffectual while occasionally putting together five seconds of gif bait whereas Griffiths is a constant threat/pain in the arse.

you say potatooles (onimo), Thursday, 25 April 2013 12:19 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant by awesome skillz vs consistency.

ailsa, Thursday, 25 April 2013 12:32 (thirteen years ago)

Coould it be the case that those who were voting may have thought that Celtic players were going to get plenty of votes anyway, so chose to vote for less obvious candidates, with this result?

michaellambert, Thursday, 25 April 2013 17:13 (thirteen years ago)

just think how a year ago it was Rangers and their sense of entitlement!

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 25 April 2013 17:28 (thirteen years ago)

It's not a sense of entitlement. Kris Commons (to name but one) is a very influential, consistent and effective player who's been instrumental in his team winning the league with games to spare, getting to a cup final and getting through a very difficult Champions League group. You really think the champions don't have *any* of the best players in the league they've just won for the second year running?

Everyone thought Celtic would win the league easily - why was that?

No-one's saying the other players aren't any good. They've all played well this season, though some have been inconsistent - I wouldn't grudge Griffiths winning ahead of any Celtic player but that there are none even in the running doesn't seem right to me.

I can understand a few omissions - Brown's missed a chunk of games, as has Forrest. Mulgrew hasn't done as well as last season. Hooper had a great spell then faded after January but he's still for me the best striker in the country. Ledley's been rock solid, Forster's been heroic, Samaras has made himself maybe the most difficult man in the league to play against when he's given the freedom to play as a wide forward. Wanyama's good enough and big enough to be nominated for the senior award.

you say potatooles (onimo), Thursday, 25 April 2013 22:37 (thirteen years ago)

I would have had Commons in it myself (big fan of him for many years) but honestly some of the comments I've seen in the press and on twitter and elsewhere really has shown a complete sense of entitlement from Celtic fans.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 25 April 2013 22:44 (thirteen years ago)

So you chose to post your whinging here, where there is no sense of entitlement evident at all.

ailsa, Friday, 26 April 2013 01:53 (thirteen years ago)

Terry Butcher and Pat Fenlon said they were surprised that no Celtic player made the list. Horrible sense of entitlement iyam.

you say potatooles (onimo), Friday, 26 April 2013 08:32 (thirteen years ago)

fucken Leigh Griffiths, aye that Dean Saunders is a good judge of a player alright

we're up all night to get picky (Noodle Vague), Friday, 26 April 2013 08:37 (thirteen years ago)

tbf tho the SPL will look pretty sweet compared to League 1 so stay strong, Hibs

a complete sense of entitlement from Celtic fans

Bollocks or should that be Trollocks

r|t|c, Friday, 26 April 2013 12:50 (thirteen years ago)

nah that was just front i think, Deano had him back for an afternoon, watched maybe one training sesh and decided that a powerhouse squad like ours cd do without him.

i mean, we've been playing Adam Hammill and he beat the shit out of a paramedic or sump'n

we're up all night to get picky (Noodle Vague), Friday, 26 April 2013 12:53 (thirteen years ago)

He's such a Hibee I'm surprised he can function at all 5 miles from Leith

Tom D (Tom D.), Friday, 26 April 2013 12:55 (thirteen years ago)

And they want to bring alcohol back? no thanks. The only times fans are sober is during the game!

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/celtic-rangers-old-firm-under-17-1860750

Algerian Goalkeeper, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 08:20 (thirteen years ago)

You do know that alcohol is available at many SPL grounds? Only if you're in the posh seats of course. Being able to spend £1000 instead of £500 on a season ticket obviously means you can take your drink.

I'm perfectly capable of drinking alcohol without being a violent offensive destructive prick. Violent offensive destructive pricks are perfectly capable of being that without alcohol. I'm sure alcohol is a factor but the biggest factor is these cunts using this game as an excuse to hate on the other cunts they haven't been able to abuse for a year.

you say potatooles (onimo), Tuesday, 30 April 2013 09:52 (thirteen years ago)

Those drunken morons in executive boxes are the worst!

Algerian Goalkeeper, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 09:58 (thirteen years ago)

So why are they allowed a pint but not me?

you say potatooles (onimo), Tuesday, 30 April 2013 10:24 (thirteen years ago)

They shouldn't be. I dunno why they are.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 10:27 (thirteen years ago)

I do.

you say potatooles (onimo), Tuesday, 30 April 2013 10:29 (thirteen years ago)

Money talks?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 10:31 (thirteen years ago)

Not just that. It's an attitude thing. The boards of clubs see the people in expensive seats and boxes and buying corporate hospitality as their kind of people are therefore not capable of being obnoxious drunken cunts.
They see the rest of us as a drunken untrustworthy underclass rabble, much like you do.

you say potatooles (onimo), Tuesday, 30 April 2013 10:37 (thirteen years ago)

lol

Algerian Goalkeeper, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 10:49 (thirteen years ago)

Did I miss the bit in that article where it had anything to do with alcohol?

ailsa, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:05 (thirteen years ago)

From that article: "Cops and stewards looked on as supporters sang sectarian songs and spat abuse. "

That new legislation's working well then, as the only arrests were the two Sevco fans who invaded the pitch and one person outside the stadium.

ailsa, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:23 (thirteen years ago)

Meanwhile through the east, I give you the ferranti thistle ultras. They have to be pished.

Anyway in groundhoggier news, super soaraway sources say hearts are going bust. Club statement not exactly reassuring.
