A day in the life: Carl JenkinsonWhat time do you usually get up in the morning? At about half past eight.
What’s your first drink of the day?I’m boring – it’s normally just a glass of water.
What do you usually eat for breakfast? Normally a croissant, a banana and a Muller light yoghurt.
Do you read the newspaper? Not really, no.
Before heading to training, is there anything else that you generally do?I just wash and brush my teeth, and that’s it.
How long does it take you to drive to the training ground? About 35 minutes depending on the M25.
And what car do you drive there?A BMW 3 Series.
Do you listen to music in the car?I listen to the radio and my iPod – I love listening to music. If it’s the radio, I usually have Kiss 100, Choice FM or Magic FM on.
Do you always travel on your own? Yes, I do.
Are you usually one of the first to training – or one of the last? One of the first, I reckon.
What do you keep in your locker? Not much – just cosmetics, my trainers and my flip flops.
On the training pitches, do you have any special warm up routines?I tend to have a good stretch before I go out, because I’m sometimes quite stiff.
What aspect of training do you enjoy the most? I enjoy the passing drills that we do.
Which team-mate do you think is the best trainer?I’d say Mikel Arteta – he’s really professional.
After training what do you take into the shower?Shampoo and a towel.
Who do you tend to sit with at lunch? It depends to be honest – I’m happy to eat with whoever’s about.
Do you always go straight home after training – if not where might you go?Sometimes I go to a nice Italian restaurant in Radlett for lunch, if I’m not eating at the training ground, but I tend to go straight home.
What do you tend to do when you get home?I usually chill out for a couple of hours, perhaps watching a bit of TV.
What time do you eat dinner? At about half six, maybe 7pm.
Tell us three things that you might do in the evening? Go to see my friends, go to the cinema, or just stay at home.
What’s the last thing you do before going to bed?I don’t know really – probably brush my teeth.
What time do you go to bed?I’m normally asleep by 11pm.
And in bed, do you tend to read, watch TV, listen to music or go straight to sleep? Usually I mess about on my laptop for half an hour or so, and then I’m tired enough to sleep.

― r|t|c, Monday, 9 September 2013 18:58 (twelve years ago)
probably true, except gary neville got, what, 100 caps with a similar playing-style + less height + less pace
jenkinson is showing signs of becoming a seriously good defensive fullback with mighty stamina & recovery. almost has the pace of walker and little if any of the craven idiocy or lack of positional awareness. will always get fewer *goals* or *assists* than his competition, but that isn't a defender's job last time i checked
once johnson goes i expect jenkinson to prevail
― ... Jenkinson ... Neu! military spending ... snkkt! ... Özil ... ... (imago), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:02 (twelve years ago)
full disclosure: really, really hate kyle walker
i mean, i expect this to be lowton vs byram vs jenkinson vs solly in 4 years' time, walker an also-ran playing perhaps in france

― A Skanger Barkley (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 21:35 (twelve years ago)
had a gr8 first half but I didn't see the 2nd. appears to be buying into the Arsenal project quite well, quickly takes up good positions & feeds short passes to cazorla/ozil, doesn't need to do much more in an attacking sense
― veneer timber (imago), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 21:41 (twelve years ago)
cazorla is a wonderful player, v unselfish, ambidextruous, a great combination player although apart from wilshere, arteta, arshavin there aren't really any players there who could really benefit from that multiplier effect of the technopygmy hivemind
― A.R.R.Y. Kane (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 21 August 2012 15:03 (1 year ago)
this multiplier is stronger now that it has been for years, ozil and nu-ramsey mean there are often four or five players who can win a game and then kill it, a magic quadrilateral gently shifting its angle and circulating possession around the pitch (with flamini and koscielny providing excellent recovery)
nacho monreal can do this too, providing an outlet when the quadrilateral frays and then recycling possession
jenks though not quite at the same technical level is still poised enough to provide a more cautious version on the right flank
― A Skanger Barkley (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 21:51 (twelve years ago)
it is pleasing that more than one english player is involved in this kind of passing system. AOC isn't that kind of player..............sadly
― veneer timber (imago), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 21:54 (twelve years ago)
he has that anarchic can play anywhere / will play everywhere trait like barkley gerrard etc but he's not stupid and wenger will bleed the worst of that from him
got his work cut out to get regular playing time when he returns, now arsenal have run the epl for three months with their three main wing forwards injured
― A Skanger Barkley (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 22:00 (twelve years ago)

Carl Jenkinson will be sent out on loan to a Premier League club next season – with Newcastle and West Ham leading the chase to land the Arsenal defender.
Manager Arsene Wenger wants the right-back, who has one full England cap, to gain a full year of top-flight experience next term.
Newcastle, who expect to lose Mathieu Debuchy to Paris St-Germain at the end of the season, have declared an interest as has West Ham boss Sam Allardyce.
