(this being the gametime forecast at RBA)
― scream blahula scream (govern yourself accordingly), Wednesday, 7 November 2012 16:45 (thirteen years ago)
Have you been to RBA before? Nice place, that roof is gonna be a blessing tonight.
― dansplaining (dan m), Wednesday, 7 November 2012 16:55 (thirteen years ago)
i haven't - i'm pretty stoked about tonight. 11 buses coming up from dc and 700+ united supporters expected; they're even gonna let us tailgate
i work about 10 miles from harrison, and it's been snowing all afternoon up here - should be a fun one tonight for neutrals

Wore my old skool Metros scarf today, totally not going to the game.

I can't find info on whether orange balls have ever been used in MLS before. Tonight could be a first!
― dansplaining (dan m), Wednesday, 7 November 2012 20:43 (thirteen years ago)
We are the DC haters btw.
― purveyor of generations (in orbit), Wednesday, 7 November 2012 20:46 (thirteen years ago)
incidentally it's a legit huge snowstorm by now - orange balls are go!

so i guess the MN Stars have a new, local owner. curious to see how this plays out, esp with the new stadium and the Vikings' right of first refusal on an MLS expansion
the st paul saints (minor league baseball) just snagged a prime location in lowertown, and i wouldn't be surprised to see the stars move to get a small, decent stadium somewhere that isn't g-d blaine
― well if it isn't old 11 cameras simon (gbx), Thursday, 8 November 2012 00:46 (thirteen years ago)
they're really going to try to play in this?
― ou th (anky), Thursday, 8 November 2012 01:10 (thirteen years ago)
Hope so!
― Gukbe, Thursday, 8 November 2012 01:23 (thirteen years ago)

― dansplaining (dan m), Friday, 9 November 2012 02:28 (thirteen years ago)
Crazy!
― EZ Snappin, Friday, 9 November 2012 02:41 (thirteen years ago)
I'm starting to be afraid this is all leading to a Galaxy repeat. :(
― EZ Snappin, Friday, 9 November 2012 02:45 (thirteen years ago)
jesus i'm so hoarse
― scream blahula scream (govern yourself accordingly), Friday, 9 November 2012 05:49 (thirteen years ago)
ah fuck i had to be out this evening and i only caught the first half.
― Gukbe, Friday, 9 November 2012 06:17 (thirteen years ago)
so much for home advantage
― Michael B Higgins (Michael B), Friday, 9 November 2012 15:41 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah really strange, especially for Salt Lake. Their stadium used to be a fortress and they had a crazy crowd last night (I only watched the first half, missed the finish). Red Bull Stadium, predictably, was mostly empty. Congrats to GYA, games like that are the reason why fans travel.
― dansplaining (dan m), Friday, 9 November 2012 16:07 (thirteen years ago)
Thanks! The last 20 minutes of that game from the Hamid red card onward were honestly about as tense as any sporting event I've ever seen live (including a Stanley Cup final game and a no-hitter). Can't wait for next Sunday.
― scream blahula scream (govern yourself accordingly), Friday, 9 November 2012 18:52 (thirteen years ago)
That second goal was woeful defending.
― Gukbe, Sunday, 11 November 2012 22:54 (thirteen years ago)
horrible.
― EZ Snappin, Sunday, 11 November 2012 22:55 (thirteen years ago)
DC do not lok like the team that played the Red Bulls last week.
― EZ Snappin, Sunday, 11 November 2012 23:01 (thirteen years ago)
They've had less time to recuperate.
― Gukbe, Sunday, 11 November 2012 23:05 (thirteen years ago)
Another excuse I've got on my little pad here is that Dynamo should have been down to ten men.
Also gonna float some rumors about poisoned BBQ sauce.
Dynamo should have had a penalty in the first half, if you want to make notes.
I know DC had a smaller margin for error, and having to make injury subs changes things, but they haven't been sharp at all.
― EZ Snappin, Sunday, 11 November 2012 23:07 (thirteen years ago)
They have been very poor. I never feel that they get any significant homefield advantage either. So Come On Sounders, I guess.
― Gukbe, Sunday, 11 November 2012 23:09 (thirteen years ago)
I was pulling for them.
― EZ Snappin, Sunday, 11 November 2012 23:10 (thirteen years ago)
And "anyone but Houston" is generally the only accepted rooting practice here in Dallas.
― EZ Snappin, Sunday, 11 November 2012 23:11 (thirteen years ago)
fuck la always and forever
― ou th (anky), Monday, 12 November 2012 04:19 (thirteen years ago)
That 3rd goal by Keane was some real trolling your own teammate shit.
― pandemic, Monday, 12 November 2012 11:00 (thirteen years ago)
I never feel that they get any significant homefield advantage either.
In terms of officiating? I mean, it's MLS. But they're patently better - like, a lot better - at home, and Houston's been just as terrible on the road as United. Forgive my blatant homerism, but it's crazy to write them off already.

Beckham leaving LA after the final.
― dansplaining (dan m), Tuesday, 20 November 2012 01:00 (thirteen years ago)
so who will the refs favor next year?
― EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 20 November 2012 01:19 (thirteen years ago)
how's keane been? Final's gettin some coverage here today
― bill paxman (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 November 2012 01:22 (thirteen years ago)
Keane's been good in the playoffs. I don't know about during the season; I didn't watch to much of LA because Landon Donovan drives me up a wall. Most punchable American player since Lalas.
― EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 20 November 2012 01:27 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah Keane has several playoff goals and LA has gone through 2 good teams in San Jose and Seattle to reach the final.
Classic MLS though, the 4th and 5th place clubs from each conference reaching the final. Houston has a much better chance than they did last year imo.
― dansplaining (dan m), Tuesday, 20 November 2012 01:48 (thirteen years ago)
Keane also scored both goals in a 2-0 win on LA's only game vs Chicago this year, the bastard. Was notable bc nearly every other Galaxy starter was injured or out that game & they still managed to win. They had some really bad injury problems to start the season but moved up the standings as they healed.
Just glad RedBull failed again this year. (Sorry Laurel.)
― dansplaining (dan m), Tuesday, 20 November 2012 01:53 (thirteen years ago)
i've got coverage now thanks to a new cable package, if i can manage to pack the gf off to an evening class or something a few nights a week i might try to catch a few games
― bill paxman (darraghmac), Tuesday, 20 November 2012 14:34 (thirteen years ago)
Only one game left!

Decent article on the growth of the league, listening to Robb Heineman makes me want to puke though.
Tomorrow's the big day! Anyone planning on watching? We have a "blood raffle" going in Chicago -- everyone writes their name on a dollar bill and puts it in the pot. If a player bleeds on air, we draw a name and they win the pool! Might do it once a half just for fun.
― dansplaining (dan m), Friday, 30 November 2012 21:05 (thirteen years ago)
Can they both lose? You couldn't find two more hated teams amongst Dallas fans, which should make my bar viewing tomorrow interesting.
― EZ Snappin, Friday, 30 November 2012 21:10 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah there has been a lot of "cheering for a meteor strike/earthquake/tidal wave" comments surrounding our little watch gathering.
I gotta give a slight edge in favor to Houston since they knocked the Fire out, and because fuck LA.
