cold light of day brings many conspiracy theories to light, it's akin to rubbernecking a bad traffic accident watching sounders fans deal with their first big loss in so public a manner across the breadth of the usa soccer interverse

not going to lie, after waking up in a bad, bad, BAD mood in seattle a year ago, schadenfreude is real

any articles you recommend for laughs?

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 9 August 2012 18:54 (thirteen years ago)

nah mostly twitter and msg board stuff, tho sigi has some good quotes in http://seattletimes.com/html/jerrybrewer/2018879038_brewer09.html and there some lol conspiracy bits in the comments too

my fave:

"It's difficult when you're playing against a team at home, so the crowd helps them, and then when you're playing against the referee as well, and he makes some absolutely, I thought, ridiculous calls,"

um yeah dude like the last two years eh

DX Dx DX (dan m), Thursday, 9 August 2012 19:36 (thirteen years ago)

Thanks Dan! That whole article has some great laughs in it.

You only lost because the ref let them kick the shit out of you.

fire vs dc last night

DX Dx DX (dan m), Thursday, 23 August 2012 18:25 (thirteen years ago)

ahaha

united really needed the points - i was scared of that game, but najar at RB was something else, as was saragosa of all fucking people

it was kinda weird being front and center in EVERY medium shot of barra all night (announced attendance was like 10k, which was very generous)

scream blahula scream (govern yourself accordingly), Friday, 24 August 2012 19:09 (thirteen years ago)

it was blatantly obvious how much logan pause was missed, the fire midfield looked totally disorganized. and don't even get me started on the dude we had playing rb on the night...

John Strong‏@StrongMLS

I'm told that no matter who Timbers hire as coach, decision was made earlier this summer to widen JWF to 74 yards (1/2)

I got sort of awkwardly quoted in this excellent article about former Fire GM/President Peter Wilt:

and also bye bye marco pappa, transfer moved up.

making room for ol' charlie blackmouth, I suspect.

I'm watching a replay of the other night's CHI v. TOR game and I don't think I'm going to make it to the half. Toronto is more than poor; they're atrocious. They had a little sign of life a month or so ago but are back to their early season abject state.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 14 September 2012 01:07 (thirteen years ago)

They were able to keep it somewhat interesting in the second half, I was really hoping for a demolition job from the Fire but it never materialized.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Friday, 14 September 2012 01:56 (thirteen years ago)

Made it to halftime. Called it good.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 14 September 2012 02:00 (thirteen years ago)

Getting a little sick of the hyping of Portland/Seattle today, tbqf. Why because Portland sucks and there are much more important playoff-implication matches happening too.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Saturday, 15 September 2012 14:07 (thirteen years ago)

KC/Houston draw last night only made the Chicago/Montreal and New York/Columbus games more intense today. 5 points separating the top 4 in the East.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Saturday, 15 September 2012 14:09 (thirteen years ago)

And don't overlook Dallas/Vancouver - if Dallas win they're within 1 point of Vancouver for the final playoff spot.

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 15 September 2012 14:12 (thirteen years ago)

Excellent point. Dallas has really come on strong of late, they were pretty widely written off early in the year but have gotten healthy just in time.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Saturday, 15 September 2012 14:16 (thirteen years ago)

Though I think the last home draw might have killed their shot.

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 15 September 2012 14:17 (thirteen years ago)

After looking at the West standings, I'm surprised that 37pts is the current last spot. Everyone seemed to be predicting the West would be the stronger conference at the start of the season.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Saturday, 15 September 2012 14:18 (thirteen years ago)

It is a bit surprising. I think if Dallas hadn't been so injury stricken they'd be comfortably over 40 points, but it wasn't to be. And Vancouver has been so disappointing since they became the West Scots team; they really should be comfortably out of reach by now.

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 15 September 2012 14:22 (thirteen years ago)

Dallas closed within 1. Vancouver has a game in hand, but have looked so bad since they imported the Scots national team that I almost expect a full collapse.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Wednesday, 19 September 2012 21:33 (thirteen years ago)

okay but we must respect Columbus — not literally, of course, but there is much to be learned from teams of their genre. and I leave him to mercies of the Australian, who is bounding round the middle at random, strewth-ing into things. are genius.

pandemic, Thursday, 20 September 2012 07:00 (thirteen years ago)

went to philly for the united game last night, my first time at ppl park - fun time, three much-needed points, and i totally enjoyed the stadium, but they certainly weren't kidding about those security guards

scream blahula scream (govern yourself accordingly), Friday, 21 September 2012 22:27 (thirteen years ago)

I watched most of that, looked like a bit of a hack-fest.

Gonna be a sell-out today at TP for Columbus, classic Chicago fans showing up now that playoffs are looking likely. Good thing it's for a must-win game.

god you guys are playing your asses off right now

hoping we can sneak by a swooning RBNY into third tomorrow (which we will, on goal difference, with a win) - that last dcu/chicago game 10/27 could be very interesting seeding-wise

scream blahula scream (govern yourself accordingly), Sunday, 23 September 2012 05:22 (thirteen years ago)

Fire looked really good yesterday.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 23 September 2012 12:03 (thirteen years ago)

Aside from the goal that SeanJohn just handed to them on a platter... smh.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Sunday, 23 September 2012 13:44 (thirteen years ago)

Better he makes a flub like that now than in the playoffs. Watching it at home, the outcome never seemed in doubt. You guys were massively better.

Did anyone else catch the San Jose/Seattle game last night? Chippy and cheap, what with the Earthquakes built upon the rare breed of thuggish divers. San Jose one of the few teams in the league that make Seattle seem vaguely likable.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 23 September 2012 13:50 (thirteen years ago)

Didn't see that one, but I did see KC at Montreal earlier in the day. KC aren't divers as much as they swarm the ref looking for calls on seemingly every play, plus they hack and hit when they don't have the ball. Their draw means the Fire has a shot at first in the east on the road in KC on Friday, a game that I shall be attending. Only my second away day this year, shameful.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Sunday, 23 September 2012 13:58 (thirteen years ago)

Best of luck in KC! Would love to see someone knock them off their perch.
