Club officials insisted they liked the 'innovative' shirt, but Hummel's reaction was more plausible.

The company pointed out it had only ten days to come up with two new kits after taking on the contract at the last minute.

purple purple purple

nakhchivan, Sunday, 22 July 2012 22:16 (thirteen years ago)

What kind of excuse is that xp? It's a football shirt, the hard bit was done 100 years ago.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 22 July 2012 22:20 (thirteen years ago)

a brilliant excuse is what that is

rifling through the family home cupboards i found this beauty:

http://www.classicfootballshirts.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/0dc2d03fe217f8c83829496872af24a0/i/m/image_2009.gif

(southampton away 1981-83, the darker colour is more browny than it looks there.)

unfortunately it seems to be pre-teen sized, i'd have to have my ribcage compressed to get retro fashionable with it. but i also found

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3078/2556860304_00fccbf1e6.jpg

which is grown-up sized (ricken 18 on the back), so i'll be taking that with me for theoretical kickabout attire.

things that are jokes pretty much (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Monday, 7 January 2013 21:30 (thirteen years ago)

Ooh, classic. Whatever happened to him?

And you'd think that shirt would've been fine with just 'xerox'

Ismael Klata, Monday, 7 January 2013 21:30 (thirteen years ago)

I don't know how I ended up with the classy foreigner rather than the local hero, but it was for the best - a shirt celebrating a current Celtic player wouldn't have lasted long with my brothers around.

There are also some listings for “Hockey Shirts” and “Ladies’ Hockey Blouses.” But as you can see on the next two spreads, these don’t look anything like 1930s hockey sweaters (and besides, hockey wasn’t popular in the UK in the 1930s, was it?). I believe these jerseys were for field hockey. Take a look:

yah think?

I like 'em, though the collars look like they've been inexpertly photoshopped.

Of those I've seen in the flesh, the new Barca is good; the new Liverpool's quite swish too, but imo a downgrade from this year's.

My retro Cosmos shirt looks like it's lost for good, I'd really like that back most of all.

This turned up last week in a bag my parents had prepared for the charity shop. I've rarely been as chuffed.

my favourite Inter away with the massive St George's cross on it

I wore this out & about in Scotland on the day of England v Germany at the last World Cup, just to see what would happen. It was fine - some kids chanted 'Germany, Germany' at me as I walked across a park; and then a family actually opened their front door to cheer me as I passed.

I didn't even have to deploy the withering "it's an Inter Milan strip you fucking moron" line I had all prepared, just in case

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 22 February 2014 22:05 (twelve years ago)

How long were you working on that line?

Ewan Huzami (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 22 February 2014 23:12 (twelve years ago)

A while. I didn't trust myself to deliver spontaneously, should I have been accosted by a group of woad-daubed savages wielding claymores. It was fine though, the referendum was still only a glint in Salmond's eye.

I think that arsenal shirt commemorates 20 years of nike not really giving a shit and throwing something together and saying "will that do?" before Puma take over

Having said that I really like some of the nike shirts, I've got 3. Really like the away kit from this season. I promised I'd get the name of anyone who scored an fa cup winner on the back of my shirt, so I'll be getting a rambo. Although I wanna hurry up before there's some puma travesty instead...

I always wanted a juve shirt, with the italian flag crest. The new france wc shirt looks nice too. Are Italy shirts nice anymore? I really liked them a while back but then the tone of blue changed to a shitty blue and they've never been the same since.

folks gotta stop fucking around with their shorts colours. argentina in white shorts and spain in red is making me sad.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 30 May 2014 17:07 (twelve years ago)

Those Mexico shirts from the 50s are pretty slick, remind me of Venezuela.

Was there some kind of FIFA directive that banned international teams from having more than two colours or did I imagine that? I can't think of any reason why they would want to do that, but that doesn't mean they didn't do it.

Turtleneck Work Solutions (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Friday, 30 May 2014 19:26 (twelve years ago)

i don't think they banned them but they want teams to be unicolor to help out the refs or some shit.

Was something about teams playing in one colour to look better on tv, esp in hd or something

Obvs super dumb bits it's FIFA so
