srsly the seattle sounders themselves could not have bought and paid for a better home field advantage

Steve Youngblood (dan m), Wednesday, 30 May 2012 15:05 (fourteen years ago)

Oh right I understand now. Is the US Open Cup a big thing in your culture? Because that looks like a pretty epic night of shocks.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 30 May 2012 21:36 (fourteen years ago)

it's big in some scenes, not so much in others. since they gave a champions league spot to the winners it's been on the upswing though.

Ah great, thanks - I lap that stuff up. The comments are worth reading too:

Long Island away in 1997. An unlit field in Stony Brook, with Rhett Hartley heading in the extra time winner at dusk, off a Donadoni free kick.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 30 May 2012 22:07 (fourteen years ago)

slightly crepey of me to know this but I believe that commenter is a former ilxor

Current Roster
From news report[8]

Danny Barrera
Diego Barrera
Artur Aghasyan - scored goal in 95th minute of match vs. Portland Timbers, ensuring Cal FC's 1-0 victory[2][3][4][5][6][7]
Pedro Ferreira-Mendes
Paulo Ferreira-Mendes
Eder Arreola
Mike Randolph
Richard Menjivar
Derby Carillo (mentioned during match vs. Portland Timbers - 5/30/2012)
Cesar Rivera (mentioned during match vs. Portland Timbers - 5/30/2012)
Jesus Gonzalez (mentioned during match vs. Portland Timbers - 5/30/2012)

This shows the magnitude of it nicely I think.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 31 May 2012 12:42 (fourteen years ago)

kind of <3 that Cal are wearing 2010 Fire shirts

Steve Youngblood (dan m), Thursday, 31 May 2012 13:35 (fourteen years ago)

Grant Wahl ‏@GrantWahl

General response is an MLS team would be better off setting $2 million cash on fire than buying Ronaldinho. Could be entertaining, though.

Steve Youngblood (dan m), Thursday, 31 May 2012 18:23 (fourteen years ago)

The KLF already did it. It wasn't.

Steve Youngblood (dan m), Wednesday, 13 June 2012 18:22 (fourteen years ago)

Looks like a great atmosphere in Montreal. That revamped stadium looks solid, and it has real turf!

tell it to my arse (jim in glasgow), Monday, 18 June 2012 00:17 (fourteen years ago)

Huh, Arlo White does games for NBC here, including today's as far as I know.

Good game, shame about the blown call but it made the fans really loud & angry, and the players responded.

Steve Youngblood (dan m), Monday, 18 June 2012 17:12 (fourteen years ago)

hearing rumors of newcastle and villareal interest in the fire's marco pappa, he'd be much much better off in spain imho

DX Dx DX (dan m), Friday, 22 June 2012 14:45 (fourteen years ago)

Portland 2-0 Seattle at the half, could have been 3-0 but for the cross bar. Pretty lively game thus far.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Sunday, 24 June 2012 22:04 (fourteen years ago)

its on ESPN here but i think im all footballed out right now.

Michael B Higgins (Michael B), Sunday, 24 June 2012 22:06 (fourteen years ago)

I admit it, I turned off Italy/Englande PKs to watch this ¯\(°_o)/¯

DX Dx DX (dan m), Sunday, 24 June 2012 22:11 (fourteen years ago)

I know my city is trying to get into the MLS. right now we have a new NASL team that plays about 10 minutes from me. is it worth the $25 per ticket?

he bit me (it felt like a diss) (m bison), Sunday, 24 June 2012 22:12 (fourteen years ago)

What city is it? I have friends that follow a couple of different NASL clubs. I would say go and check it out if nothing else. Depending on the club you may be surprised.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Sunday, 24 June 2012 22:15 (fourteen years ago)

m bison - give it a go! Maybe down the line we can do an MLS home and away series. Still looking for that perfect excuse to make the drive down your way.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 24 June 2012 22:17 (fourteen years ago)

San Antonio scorpions FC
new stadium opening next year, starts at 6000 capacity with various phases to expand to 18000 capacity

he bit me (it felt like a diss) (m bison), Sunday, 24 June 2012 22:33 (fourteen years ago)

I figure now is as good as any time to go since I've got the summer off, just used to buying cheap seats wherever I go

he bit me (it felt like a diss) (m bison), Sunday, 24 June 2012 22:36 (fourteen years ago)

check out their twitter and facebook pages - I know FC Dallas often has ticket deals that only show up there.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 24 June 2012 22:37 (fourteen years ago)

upon further inspection, tickets are 15$, doing this shit
the ones that were $25 were for a doubleheader which features an exhibition match bw monterrey and San Luis

he bit me (it felt like a diss) (m bison), Sunday, 24 June 2012 22:43 (fourteen years ago)

red cards for both sides here.

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Sunday, 24 June 2012 23:01 (fourteen years ago)

No means no Montero.

I'd totally go for 15 dollars, tbh 25 sounded steep for NASL.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Sunday, 24 June 2012 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

I admit it, I turned off Italy/Englande PKs to watch this ¯\(°_o)/¯

wau

espn ads making this out to be like celtic/rangers were a bit much

mookieproof, Sunday, 24 June 2012 23:19 (fourteen years ago)

transfer window incoming:

Marco di Vaio- Montreal Impact (Bologna - Serie A)
Alex - Chicago Fire (FC Wohlen - Challenge League)
Barry Robson - Vancouver Whitecaps FC (Middlesbrough - The Championship)
Jairo Arrieta- Columbus Crew (Deportivo Saprissa – Primera División de Costa Rica)
Oscar Boniek Garcia- Houston Dynamo (C.D. Olimpia - Liga Nacional de Honduras)

not heard a lot of outgoing rumors besides geoff cameron -> stoke and marco pappa as mentioned above. the fire may also lose sebastian grazzini due to contract weirdness which would be a shame imo.

shevchenko rumors continue including 1.9m for 1 year with the fire. he scored some goals in ukraine last year but still I don't know if a 35yo forward is what we need exactly.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Tuesday, 26 June 2012 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

DX Dx DX (dan m), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 03:47 (fourteen years ago)
