is there anything preventing them arranging to sell players (for more than the sum of their accumulated wages until the transfer window SLAMS OPEN) and so keeping them around with a profit on the books? i would have thought they'd be able to get more from wylde than a few months worth of his wages, unless (big unless) their wage structures are absolutely mental.

not that other clubs would be willing to pay much for players who'll be in the dole queue in a matter of weeks anyway.

If they are still paying them, they have to find money to pay them with, which I expect would be the stumbling block to that? Or do you mean deferment of wages until the end of the season then pay them what's due to them out of the money their sale has generated? I think that's what the players + reps were offering, and it was knocked back, though I might have misunderstood this (don't know if you can arrange a pre-contract at this stage of the season, even if the club's in administration). Also surely players would just join the list of creditors and any money raised from their sale would go into the pot to pay all the other stuff as well and plug the million/month black hole, so they might not get the wages anyway?

yeah, i guess i was thinking of it in terms of either the buying clubs paying something in advance (never going to happen) or the old/usual way of working with money you don't actually have yet via loans etc, which is obviously no-go in this situation.

I might be wrong, but I would assume the administrators have looked at all their other options, hence massive delay in redundancies while they seek alternatives. Or else they are just raking in massive fees for doing bugger all.

neil doncaster apparently in favour of rangers staying in the spl and there's no mechanism for a newco to start again in the SFL and the SPL clubs decide themselves if Rangers can go straight into SPL as a newco.
The SPL clubs outwith Celtic rely on rangers money and they will vote them back in, I just know it. Sickening.
It should be in the rules that any newco must start in div 3. After what Airdrie did it could have been changed (though that wouldnt affect spl)

I don't understand how there is no mechanism for a newco to get into the SFL. There will be a post-liquidation vacancy in the league system, which any club can surely apply to fill.

Would laugh myself sick if they applied and were knocked back in favour of Cove Rangers or Whitehill Welfare or somesuch.

Hang on, if newco can get straight into the SPL, why not liquidate now, stiff all your creditors, then waltz back up to the top table whistling the theme to The Great Escape and flicking the Vs to everyone? Why dick about pretending to try to trade out of admin? Just killing time until the big tax case hits?

Newco would have no debts, no deal with Ticketus, nothing. They'd need a stadium to play at, and players, but someone would front for the running costs without the debts, surely.

no no i mean they buy tickets for our end but they still are rangers fans. the club want their money. they even move accies fans AND season ticket holders from their usual seats to accommodate them. Club directors dont give a shit about the fans.

Earlier in the day, we believed we had agreed in principle a basis of cost-cutting measures with the players accepting substantial pay cuts and we are very grateful for their efforts in reaching that point.

"Sadly this evening we have been unable to reach agreement on the personal conditions sought by the advisors to the players in respect of those wage cuts.

"There is still some hope these issues can be resolved first thing in the morning but it is extremely disappointing we haven't been able to get there tonight."
