surprisingly (occasionally) incisive at the front, shaky in the extreme at the back

Back at work - so I can't watch teh second half but flipping back and forth between Italy - USA and Eng - Ned, I thought at least the US game looked more entertaining.

Did they just park the bus in front of goal or did they try to counter at all?
― pareilles à celles auxquelles l'étiquette de la cour assujettit (Michael White), Wednesday, 29 February 2012 21:42 (twelve years ago) link
a couple attempts at countering, including one 2-on-2 with boyd and dempsey where it was pretty obvious only boyd had any gas in the tank, but mostly a lot of blocking shots and clogging up the front

The sash always kind of irked me - it reminds me too much of South American tinpot dicator wear somehow. I like the hoops more than I expected.
― L'ennui, cette maladie de tous les (Michael White), Tuesday, 17 April 2012 14:21 (twelve years ago) link
so the sash is still there, just barely.are there other national teams that wear hoops?
