^this. Not one penny of this deal went into Rangers' books. No money at all was paid to Rangers.
Not one penny of the reported 100,000 season ticket sales will go into Rangers' future books.

Effectively Craig Whyte's company received £24m for £60m worth of Rangers assets and Rangers won't see a bean.

(if I understand it correctly, that is - it may be that Ticketus sell their £240 tickets for £600 each and Rangers are entitled to a cut of that profit)

knocked over like the last act in Mackbeth (onimo), Friday, 17 February 2012 14:27 (fourteen years ago)

I haven't seen anythng (haven't been looking/paying much attention - my interest in this is pretty much purely legal) that confirms that the consideration for the sale of the tickets has been received as yet (or that it should be received up front).

calumerio, Friday, 17 February 2012 14:29 (fourteen years ago)

That's a point. It would have been mental of octopus to pony up £24m in advance, unless they had it secured by tangible assets rather than a promise.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 17 February 2012 14:39 (fourteen years ago)

Statement seems to confirm money has changed hands:

long winded way of saying "ahm no goin tae the game the morra"

http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/football-news/article/2614559

also
And I wish to state categorically for the record now that I personally have not taken a single penny out of Rangers since I became chairman

Loads of wiggle room there in "I personally" and "out of Rangers".

Omits to say "I wish to state categorically for the record now that my company didn't take £24m by selling off Rangers' future income."

The statement doesn't say much about payment - it seems pretty carefully worded so as not to give anything away on the consideration structure. Title to the assets can pass without all (or any - hooray scots law) the consideration being paid first. Not saying, of course, that this is what has happened.

calumerio, Friday, 17 February 2012 15:41 (fourteen years ago)

Your ken is beyond mine in these matter calumerio. I'm just trying to make sense of a flurry of information from lots of people, many with vested interests.

There are a lot of laymen like myself who are incredulous at some of the stuff that's come out about these deals but I'm sure for anyone involved in the legal world shit like this happens on a regular basis without anyone even blinking. I mean look at Craig there, that a man who doesn't blink first for anyone.

TIXWAY UK LIMITED Active

^ordered earlier this to pay £86,127.36 plus interest at 8 per cent

http://scotslawthoughts.wordpress.com/2012/02/12/the-tixway-judgment-it-is-even-worse-for-craig-whyte-than-first-reported/

It was at this hearing that Whyte said he didn't remember why he was banned from being a company director for seven years.

I'm incredulous about a lot this it, too and I haven't any better visibiity (to borrow a phrase from the administrators) than anyone else here but yeah, it is perfectly possible that everything relating to the takeover (and financing of the takeover) was 100% legal - that said, on the basis of presently available information is does look a wee bit like shart practice.

calumerio, Friday, 17 February 2012 15:55 (fourteen years ago)

sharP practice

calumerio, Friday, 17 February 2012 15:55 (fourteen years ago)

knocked over like the last act in Mackbeth (onimo), Friday, 17 February 2012 15:56 (fourteen years ago)

Re the list of dissolved companies - again, this is not evidence of dodgy dealings, given CW's venture capitalist previous. Being banned from being a director is the real biggie.

calumerio, Friday, 17 February 2012 15:57 (fourteen years ago)

Not of itself evidence of dodgy dealings, I should say.

calumerio, Friday, 17 February 2012 16:00 (fourteen years ago)

Are Ticketus' accounts available? Is there an outgoing payment relating to this at all? (phone not conducive to extensive research I'm afraid)

Also, shart practice is amazing.

ailsa, Friday, 17 February 2012 16:14 (fourteen years ago)

not sure if i'll want to stick with this display name beyond a handful of posts, but let's give it a go.

He's finally got round to suing the BBC btw

Mr Whyte’s representatives said on Friday that a writ had been served on the BBC over a documentary and subsequent reports he had carried on the Rangers owner.

The action is over claims made in a documentary broadcast last October, as well as more recent reports by the corporation on Mr Whyte’s business history.

A BBC Scotland spokesman said: "We can confirm we have received a writ from Mr Whyte. We stand by our journalism, all of the allegations made, and will defend any action vigorously."

Cracking post on Pie and Bovril:

there's a first!
thank you rangers, you managed to make the impossible happen on P&B!

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Friday, 17 February 2012 18:13 (fourteen years ago)

I normally steer well clear of the Celtic/Rangers threads on P&B, spending my time on the Div. 3 forum, but couldn't resist having a look this week.

fun loving and xtremely tolrant (Billy Dods), Friday, 17 February 2012 18:26 (fourteen years ago)

any spl/div 1 threads arent any better. too many st midden fans haha

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Friday, 17 February 2012 18:44 (fourteen years ago)

That's why I mostly like this place. I have no real need of P&B.

ailsa, Friday, 17 February 2012 18:46 (fourteen years ago)

Fair enough, not expecting to see much discussion of Berwick v Annan this weekend here.

fun loving and xtremely tolrant (Billy Dods), Friday, 17 February 2012 18:49 (fourteen years ago)

No, I realise that, I just meant I had no idea of their idiocy regarding football discussion because I don't need to read it. I realise choice of discussion fora is a bit more limited with a limited market share. If I was still getting to Clyde games this season, I'd discuss them here too (or the Scottish football thread) if I thought anyone would care.

Hopefully there'll be a more active interest in Div 3 next year :)

ailsa, Friday, 17 February 2012 19:23 (fourteen years ago)

i don't think whether people care or not should be a barrier to posting about stuff on ilx. well that's my personal philosophy, as you may have noticed.

why on earth clyde btw? (albion rovers ftw).

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Friday, 17 February 2012 19:27 (fourteen years ago)

Ailsa's hubby is a Clyde fan

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Friday, 17 February 2012 19:30 (fourteen years ago)

Any reason you hate Accies jim?

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Friday, 17 February 2012 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

i p much hate everyone. i don't really have much against accies. i seen jose quitongo outside of greggs once.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Friday, 17 February 2012 19:33 (fourteen years ago)

My other half is afflicted with a sleeping giant of an allegiance due to his father. I haven't been at all since they went down to the 3rd (except for one benefit match once). I don't take enough of an interest in much below the 1st, tbh, so I have enough places to gauge opinion on the things that interest me without ever disturbing the hit rate on P&B. I do try and keep and share over here too though.

ailsa, Friday, 17 February 2012 19:49 (fourteen years ago)

P&B would do your nut in more than most places tbh. I avoid it. I read (dont post on) the accies board sometimes, if there's something big happening. But i prefer ilx .

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Friday, 17 February 2012 20:09 (fourteen years ago)

More than here? Wow.

ailsa, Friday, 17 February 2012 20:14 (fourteen years ago)

All footy boards do my nut in, but ilf/ilx is better than anywhere else.

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Saturday, 18 February 2012 21:54 (fourteen years ago)

yes, Rangers recorded crowds under 5k in the 80s. they do do walking away

knocked over like the last act in Mackbeth (onimo), Saturday, 18 February 2012 21:58 (fourteen years ago)

i remember 11k against forfar? in about 82 or 83. i dont remember as low as 5k

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Saturday, 18 February 2012 22:01 (fourteen years ago)

I've heard that but I can't believe it ever went that low - got any specific games/figures for that?

Like I said upthread, there doesn't seem much point in a Rangers that doesn't win all the time, I'd expect crowds to tumble. There's no scope for glorying in being an underdog.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 18 February 2012 22:02 (fourteen years ago)

All crowds tumble, Celtic are no exception, but they never ever went as low as Rangers did in the early 80s.

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Saturday, 18 February 2012 22:06 (fourteen years ago)

I do remember campaigns to try to get boycotts going pre-McCann, but afaicr 'success' was getting below 30,000 on occasion.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 18 February 2012 22:07 (fourteen years ago)

yeah the boycotts just didn't take off. And if there's a proper boycott going on you cant use that against a club for low attendances. It's not the same.

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Saturday, 18 February 2012 22:09 (fourteen years ago)

well they took off a bit as some stopped, but more than half the support still went it seems.
