zvookster, Monday, 7 November 2011 03:34 (fourteen years ago)

i guess it was pretty much point blank

zvookster, Monday, 7 November 2011 03:35 (fourteen years ago)

Lot of power in the cross and the shot, tough to keep out.

boxall, Monday, 7 November 2011 03:35 (fourteen years ago)

tru.

zvookster, Monday, 7 November 2011 03:36 (fourteen years ago)

boxall, Monday, 7 November 2011 03:44 (fourteen years ago)

keane is no hugo sanchez

zvookster, Monday, 7 November 2011 03:45 (fourteen years ago)

if anything his celebrations are getting even lamer as he ages, tho it seems hardly possible

zvookster, Monday, 7 November 2011 03:46 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah that was as raggedy a cartwheel as I've seen.

boxall, Monday, 7 November 2011 03:49 (fourteen years ago)

rsl was the last team besides the gals to have a shot at this imo, oh well

bomb.gif (dan m), Monday, 7 November 2011 04:09 (fourteen years ago)

RIP RSL.

I enjoyed watching them and I would have loved to see them prevail.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 7 November 2011 04:10 (fourteen years ago)

thought Beckermann was great

boxall, Monday, 7 November 2011 04:11 (fourteen years ago)

he's been a v strong player for a while now, would definitely pick him over most mids in the league

that said I don't know why klinsi keeps calling him up

bomb.gif (dan m), Monday, 7 November 2011 04:15 (fourteen years ago)

would rather keane stayed on the bench next friday tbh

Michael B Higgins (Michael B), Monday, 7 November 2011 12:12 (fourteen years ago)

bomb.gif (dan m), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 17:23 (fourteen years ago)

I thought these offseason deals were just workouts and not actually trials. No one expects Brek Shea to sign for Arsenal, do they?

boxall, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 17:38 (fourteen years ago)

idgaf what happens to Shea I just don't want anybody swoopin' for our keeper, no matter how unlikely it actually is

bomb.gif (dan m), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 18:03 (fourteen years ago)

liverpool have signed marc pelosi. who is he?

mizzell, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 18:14 (fourteen years ago)

former usa u-17 from the last cycle. midfielder. german passport? he made the bench for liverpool reserves yesterday.

carstens, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 18:21 (fourteen years ago)

from today's Guardian Rumour Mill
The former Real Madrid stroller Guti could be on his way to the Kansas City Cheeseburgers of the MLS.

love this name so much more than Sporting (or Wizards) would support them for life...

mizzell, Tuesday, 15 November 2011 17:24 (fourteen years ago)

hey, I'm in the guardian

bomb.gif (dan m), Monday, 9 January 2012 17:37 (fourteen years ago)

Wow, I never spotted that. Well done - despite the rather corporate job title.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 13 January 2012 11:17 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I would have rather had simply our organization's name for the attribution but my 'official' email address has the full title and that's what they used. So it goes. I'm actually a little more irked at how they edited one of my answers.

No matter what, more coverage of the league is always good. You'd hardly know there was a club here if you only paid attention to the local big media outlets.

long duk dan (dan m), Friday, 13 January 2012 15:51 (fourteen years ago)

The Chicagoats Fire

EZ Snappin, Monday, 30 January 2012 21:01 (fourteen years ago)

I'm glad they picked up a quasi-local sponsor and the $ will come in handy as the team finishes rebuilding, but I (and many others) are pissed they changed the stripe across the chest from white to blue.

long duk dan (dan m), Monday, 30 January 2012 21:01 (fourteen years ago)

although it has been repeatedly said that the change is not a result of Quaker being the sponsor

long duk dan (dan m), Monday, 30 January 2012 21:02 (fourteen years ago)

attn Laurel, don't know if you've been following the Wilman Conde-to-NYRB saga but

Wild Flag Post (dan m), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 15:49 (fourteen years ago)

is he the same Dave Boyle that used to post on ILE?

Michael B Higgins (Michael B), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 19:01 (fourteen years ago)

perhaps?

Wild Flag Post (dan m), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 19:11 (fourteen years ago)

loving this comment on the article:

It was my encounters with fan culture in this country that got me into the game here - more than any marquee signing or league initiative (though those things all help the growth of the game, of course). When you look at the message boards, fan sites, blogs and podcasts around the country, you see all the same humor, intensity, fatalism, absurdity, lack of/sense of proportion that you see anywhere in the world when fans talk about the game. If you're a fan from anywhere, you'll recognize your people here - just follow the noise.

@mlstalk

In 2011, MLS's 475 players were paid a collective $82.9 million, which was 30% of Man City's 10-11 wages: http://t.co/1gJkXc3f

Wild Flag Post (dan m), Thursday, 23 February 2012 21:31 (fourteen years ago)

I'm actually excited that the Fire's leading scorer from last season, Dominic Oduro, got the call from Ghana for their upcoming friendly against Chile in Philly. When it's our starting keeper away for U-23 US national team duty it's an annoyance, but the Ghana first team is no joke and the guy is a legitimately friendly, down to earth person.

PUT A BOYD ON IT

Michael B Higgins (Michael B), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:10 (fourteen years ago)

damn we just signed Arne Friedrich

dan m, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:11 (fourteen years ago)

Can't tell if it's for real or just the lens/angle, but that stadium looks good, nice & steep.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 18:12 (fourteen years ago)

prolly for real, I don't know about Houston's stadium specifically, but I know the same architecture firm did most if not all of the latest round of 'soccer specific' stadia, and they're all nicely steep.
