I got ten felonies / bitch I'm Craig Bellamy (DJ Mencap), Monday, 18 July 2011 12:44 (fourteen years ago)

that's not an amazing goal though.. that's just rolling being a dick thread.

Gary Numan, or Gary Fletcher (ken c), Monday, 18 July 2011 17:18 (fourteen years ago)

I dunno, i'm pretty amazed at what an idiot the keeper is

Number None, Monday, 18 July 2011 17:19 (fourteen years ago)

no one comes out of that looking good

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 18 July 2011 22:18 (fourteen years ago)

A United Arab Emirates player whose backheeled penalty in a friendly against Lebanon has become an internet sensation faces possible sanctions for being disrespectful.
The penalty has not only angered the Lebanese. Esmaeel Rashed, the UAE manager, said the move was "disrespectful" and that Awana may be punished. A meeting is set for late Tuesday in which the team will decide what action to take, including a possible suspension or fine.

pandemic, Thursday, 28 July 2011 07:38 (fourteen years ago)

My god what a goal. I can't work out how he did that.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 28 July 2011 07:44 (fourteen years ago)

ooooh

altho it does look a tiny bit flukier from the other angle

bergkamp v newcastle is still the only goal i'd call sinister though (just in case jordan doesnt know it)

r|t|c, Thursday, 28 July 2011 08:07 (fourteen years ago)

like neymar's is more to do with how he managed to make that calculation at that speed whereas bergkamp's is (still to this day!) just... how do you even do that, on your left foot, in that position

the dismissive fait accompli finish then only underlines the sinisterosity

r|t|c, Thursday, 28 July 2011 08:17 (fourteen years ago)

That Begkamp goal my favourite goal EVAH!!

pandemic, Thursday, 28 July 2011 08:52 (fourteen years ago)

i like how the defender's all HEY NOT FAIR.

Sir Chips Keswick (Merdeyeux), Thursday, 28 July 2011 11:04 (fourteen years ago)

Crikey - it turns out what happened next is Ronaldinho scored a hat trick as Flamengo came back to win 5-4.

Game had everything. We're watching the wrong league.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 28 July 2011 13:48 (fourteen years ago)

Neymar > Bergkamp, in this one instance.

boxall, Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:04 (fourteen years ago)

Bergkamp on that Newcastle goal, recently:

Is it your favourite goal?
No.
Why not?
There's a lot of luck. If the defender takes one step back then it's finished. So it's not pure. The Leicester and Argentina goals were pure: when the pass came I knew what I want to do: control, ball inside, finish. With this one there was luck.

boxall, Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:07 (fourteen years ago)

I'm with Dennis on that tbh.

Upt0eleven, Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:12 (fourteen years ago)

Still doesn't say whether he meant it or not

Number None, Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:13 (fourteen years ago)

If the first thought is 'I want to control the ball and pass', then I would never make that turn. But my first thought was 'I want to go to the goal and I'm going to do whatever it takes to go to the goal, no matter how the ball comes to me'. Ten yards before the ball arrived I made my decision: I'm going to turn him.
Did you think about where Dabizas was?
I knew where he was. I knew.
Did you calculate his reaction?
No, not that. But you know where the defender will be and that his knees will be bent a little, and that he will be standing a little wide, so he can't turn. And he won't expect it. The thought was, 'just flick the ball and see what happens.'

boxall, Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:23 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, he didn't mean it

Number None, Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:25 (fourteen years ago)

lol what else does calculating dabizas' reaction involve other than everything he then goes on to say? knowing which eye a single tear would fall from afterwards?

i guess i get what perfectionist dennis is saying though, a gamble is still a gamble even if it's the best-gauged one ever

r|t|c, Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:43 (fourteen years ago)

ha, that bergkamp goal is pretty sick -- i had never seen it before

J0rdan S., Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:52 (fourteen years ago)

it's so lol in that neymar goal when he goes to give his teammate that really sissy dual hi five

J0rdan S., Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:53 (fourteen years ago)

also, i had never heard of neymar, so i looked him up. is he gonna start at strike for brazil in the 2014 world cup, or is he still a bit too young for that?

also in reading his wikipedia, i found out that his agent sold interest on his eventual transfer fee, which i didn't know happened. pretty brilliant tho.

J0rdan S., Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:55 (fourteen years ago)

I was just trolling. Bergkamp made it on to my favourite players ballot, he'll be pleased with that i'm sure

Number None, Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:57 (fourteen years ago)

I guess there's a slight chance Neymar's final touch is unintentional - he intended to send the ball around the opposite side then meet it there, but it struck his left foot while he was feinting left, and fell perfectly in his path. But I don't think so.

boxall, Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:57 (fourteen years ago)

pretty sure he's gonna start

moullet, Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:58 (fourteen years ago)

Brazil in 2014 will probably use some combination of Pato and Neymar up front i would have thought. They don't have much else going on at the moment

Number None, Thursday, 28 July 2011 15:59 (fourteen years ago)

How I know the whole game clip hasn't been viewed: nobody's mentioned the penalty incident (7:07 to 9:05). Worth a watch imo.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 28 July 2011 16:11 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i just came back to lol at that! that second goal with the comedy neymar assist is great too. <3 neymar

r|t|c, Thursday, 28 July 2011 16:20 (fourteen years ago)

fuck a beautfiul game if it means defending as bad as santos though, seriously

r|t|c, Thursday, 28 July 2011 16:23 (fourteen years ago)

In June 2010, Santos rejected a £12 million bid from English Premier League team West Ham United for his services.[3]

god i forgot about this, would have been so appalling

r|t|c, Thursday, 28 July 2011 16:25 (fourteen years ago)

I still lol at West Ham having Masch + Tevez at one point and being unhappy about it.

Neymar is already part of the Brazil team. Front rolling four have been spoken of as being Ganso, Lucas Piazon, Pato and Neymar come 2014 but the likes of Robinho will still be in contention.

I am Louise Boat (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 28 July 2011 19:03 (fourteen years ago)

I thought Ganso was a midfield player

Number None, Thursday, 28 July 2011 19:11 (fourteen years ago)

yah, more of the centre of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1 iirc. Def not a frwd as such.

pandemic, Thursday, 28 July 2011 19:16 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah forward in the same way that Kaka or VDV might be described as.

Only in the frame for .1 second on the replay = definition of poacher

Wasn't it a similar wet patch of grass that gave Torres his first Chelsea goal?
