More than MTV, Thatcher, Adam and the Ants or whatever, the first time I saw the early 80s Spurs Le Coq Sportif kit with the centred badge was, for me, the precise moment the 80s began.

In fact there is a Carmodic thesis to be written on The Death Of The Admiral Kit era, imo.

Stevie T, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:59 (fourteen years ago)

would be well timed, think i read admiral just got bought by ex-umbro dudes and are set for a big relaunch

r|t|c, Friday, 17 June 2011 16:07 (fourteen years ago)

Jibe, Sunday, 3 July 2011 13:10 (fourteen years ago)

I like how it appears to rotate as you scroll down the page.

oppet, Sunday, 3 July 2011 13:17 (fourteen years ago)

one month passes...

I was nosing about in a proper sports shop, where they have individual price lists for each shirt, when I noticed that some of the shirts were available in 'player's version' (or something like that, I forget the term) for £90, as opposed to 'replicas' at circa £45. This was a new distinction on me.

I had the guy talk me through the difference - he brought out two Brazil shirts and showed me that the ventilation panelling was different, the fabric was supposedly a tighter weave (I couldn't tell) and the normal nice embroidered badge was replaced by a sticky transfer to cut down chafing. Frankly, the difference seems negligible, and where you can see it the replica's better.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 23 August 2011 21:32 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah I saw some of those 'player's version' shirts in the LFC shop the other day. The regular home shirt is £45. The 'Player edition' techfit shirt is £100.

I've managed to find some people to have a kickabout with on another forum. I was looking for a nice, cheap shirt, but ended up getting a Barca training t-shirt for £13 instead. It was that or a long-sleeve Sweden shirt for £15, but I don't fancy standing out in that yellow - I've not played for ages and am probably going to be a bit rusty.

think this must have been a Brazil-only deal, custom-designed for Anderson.

caek, Thursday, 1 September 2011 11:04 (fourteen years ago)

I like how the rays are a continuation of the ones on the badge, though I bet on the real-life shirts they don't align quite so nicely

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Saturday, 4 February 2012 23:37 (fourteen years ago)

the romario, post 1994 win, so with the extra star on the badge, bought in brasil by my dad, was the most coveted. this was before the time when world football strips were that common in glasgow shops.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Saturday, 4 February 2012 23:39 (fourteen years ago)

Fiorucci?!

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 4 February 2012 23:39 (fourteen years ago)

I only know it from the Sister Sledge song, but I doubt a nylon Inter shirt was the image Nile Rodgers was aiming for.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 4 February 2012 23:42 (fourteen years ago)

early 90s. that was maybe 93-94 or 94-95. were the sponsor at least 3 seasons.

note that they're all umbro. none of those teams are umbro anymore.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 4 February 2012 23:52 (fourteen years ago)

haha oh yeah. probably magnified in my mind and such but yeah, screaming "you fucking dirty cunt ye, get it right up ye" etc. at a pre-season friendly.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Saturday, 4 February 2012 23:53 (fourteen years ago)

maybe he was a Vasco fan

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 4 February 2012 23:59 (fourteen years ago)

i suppose it was good to be introduced at my first football game to the prevalent phenomenon of cunts at the football who just piss and moan, never sing a song, never say anything positive. a lesson in football and life, lots of people are reprehensibly negative and should just shut the fuck up and go home.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Sunday, 5 February 2012 00:04 (fourteen years ago)

what ever happened to rtc?
