did MIA pee on you?

caek, Sunday, 12 June 2011 12:48 (fourteen years ago)

i think it might actually be the first football top i owned. i used to like aberdeen, despite never having been there or having any connection in any way with the city and them also being shite. perhaps i was transfigured by jim leighton's vaseline covered eyebrows. then i started going to celtic games and the rest was history.

Introducing the Hardline According to (jim in glasgow), Sunday, 12 June 2011 13:06 (fourteen years ago)

that is a fine kit imo, umbro were on top form in those days. v natty home too (lazio had the same in blue):

the modern age needs more dazzle ship-inspired kit designs.

WHO THE FUCK READS THE (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 14 June 2011 17:11 (fourteen years ago)

i am, to a certain extent, with nbs. however my shirt nazi policies are different. any team who plays in red and white who aren't the arsenal can gtfo, as well as any team in white because spurs. blue has to be italy blue to work, it is rare anyone else pulls it off although france do well once every other kit. i like stripes tbh but loops can usually gtfo. check designs are usually awesome, although that chelsea one is carrying on a chelsea away kit disaster trend. if you put any shit on your shirt to try and change with tradition, it better be something fucking awesome because usually it looks like piss or shit stains a retarded child has used to decorate your stripe. if it is luminous, you are the fucking worst. stripes have to be chunky and full (wtf barca) unless you are udinese who can get away with looking like actual barcodes on account of not wanting to look like juve. 2 sponsers at most and if you try to hide them, hell i don't care how bad your kit is, i'll kind of respect you. i'm a sucker for the diagonal sash type kit. i'm a sucker for the one or two stripes down the side type kit, although they haven't really been seen since the nineties (except on lyon shirts.) if your shirt is green, your shirt is the worst.

WHO THE FUCK READS THE (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 14 June 2011 17:20 (fourteen years ago)

of course all those rules can be broken, but you'd have to be wearing a fucking awesome shirt to do so.

WHO THE FUCK READS THE (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 14 June 2011 17:22 (fourteen years ago)

i'm a sucker for the diagonal sash type kit. i'm a sucker for the one or two stripes down the side type kit

Yeah, these are both good. Also, I've decided there aren't enough purple kits out there (like Fiorentina). A purple and black striped kit would be good.

Food Processors Are Grebt (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 14 June 2011 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

Neither of your policies address dragons, crucial omission.

boxall, Tuesday, 14 June 2011 17:32 (fourteen years ago)

usually awesome?

WHO THE FUCK READS THE (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 14 June 2011 17:42 (fourteen years ago)

Also lightning type effects - usually well done imo (look at Juve's away kit last year iirc).

I also like when kits try to make the middle of a kit look interesting or use their badge somehow and oft combine these things - look at that recent scotland kit with the large badge fading into the background or the turkey, i think, kit where they used their badge like the sponser.

might buy this but x large in football shirts is like a tent. in normal clothes i buy l but in kits i try for a s/m.

WHO THE FUCK READS THE (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 14 June 2011 17:48 (fourteen years ago)

lastly can clubs check their sponsers first

and plz try not to ruin otherwise decent kits with fucking horrible clashing logos

Terra Mitka was a really fitting logo, I was sorry they lost that

What's happening to di Maria's head?

Ismael Klata, Friday, 17 June 2011 14:33 (fourteen years ago)

since it's the last year of the contract between puma and spurs, they may have decided to not put in any effort, but this is exactly what a spurs home shirt should look like imo

http://www.footballshirtculture.com/images/tottenham_11_12_Puma_home_shirt_leaked.jpg

mizzell, Friday, 17 June 2011 14:55 (fourteen years ago)

Aah, that's lovely. Badge should be in the centre though.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:00 (fourteen years ago)

Can you buy shirts without the sponsor?

Ismael Klata, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:01 (fourteen years ago)

wow that is fly

caek, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:02 (fourteen years ago)

there were some spurs shirts last year without the sponsor for some reason. a better bet is to buy training tops which usually are a different design but are cheaper and don't have a sponsor.

mizzell, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:04 (fourteen years ago)

If you're going to have no fewer than three pumas on your shirt you might as well add a financial services company or w/e. Like that collar a lot.

boxall, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:07 (fourteen years ago)

My local sports shop is selling some crazy Arsenal polo shirt thing with really thin black & white hoops and purple detailing elsewhere. If it wasn't for the badge you'd never know it had any connection with them at all.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:09 (fourteen years ago)

that spurs is ace

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:44 (fourteen years ago)

shame they had to put 3 pumas logos on but yeah

r|t|c, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:51 (fourteen years ago)

Badge should be in the centre though.

― Ismael Klata, Friday, 17 June 2011 16:00 (48 minutes ago)

very very very very rarely should badges ever be in the centre. i didnt think i had any nazi diktats about kits but this is probably one

r|t|c, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:52 (fourteen years ago)

More than MTV, Thatcher, Adam and the Ants or whatever, the first time I saw the early 80s Spurs Le Coq Sportif kit with the centred badge was, for me, the precise moment the 80s began.

Stevie T, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:56 (fourteen years ago)

In fact there is a Carmodic thesis to be written on The Death Of The Admiral Kit era, imo.

Stevie T, Friday, 17 June 2011 15:59 (fourteen years ago)

would be well timed, think i read admiral just got bought by ex-umbro dudes and are set for a big relaunch

r|t|c, Friday, 17 June 2011 16:07 (fourteen years ago)

i see spurs kit designers bottled it once again re having the puma pouncing on the cockerel from behind

I like how it appears to rotate as you scroll down the page.

oppet, Sunday, 3 July 2011 13:17 (fourteen years ago)

one month passes...

I was nosing about in a proper sports shop, where they have individual price lists for each shirt, when I noticed that some of the shirts were available in 'player's version' (or something like that, I forget the term) for £90, as opposed to 'replicas' at circa £45. This was a new distinction on me.

I had the guy talk me through the difference - he brought out two Brazil shirts and showed me that the ventilation panelling was different, the fabric was supposedly a tighter weave (I couldn't tell) and the normal nice embroidered badge was replaced by a sticky transfer to cut down chafing. Frankly, the difference seems negligible, and where you can see it the replica's better.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 23 August 2011 21:32 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah I saw some of those 'player's version' shirts in the LFC shop the other day. The regular home shirt is £45. The 'Player edition' techfit shirt is £100.

I've managed to find some people to have a kickabout with on another forum. I was looking for a nice, cheap shirt, but ended up getting a Barca training t-shirt for £13 instead. It was that or a long-sleeve Sweden shirt for £15, but I don't fancy standing out in that yellow - I've not played for ages and am probably going to be a bit rusty.
